I agree with you on this but want to add that in my experience this longer delay at “checking for updates” has been the case for the past week or so (definitely post MSFS2024 release but that may be a coincidence of course). The server issue last night (UK time) is solved but the delay is still longer than was normal. This could be indicative that the underlying server problem remains?
