Not seen much (any?) discussion on the new embedded replay tool - which is essentially FlightControlReplay embedded seamlessly into the sim.
I’m generally really impressed with this so far - seems mostly intuitive to use, and seems to work very well. Not yet been able to assess how it handles some of the complex airliners with coding outside the sim etc (e.g. Fenix, PMDG etc) where coverage of gear, flaps etc can be a little hit or miss in the past.
I’ve had a couple of glitches with the pop up window not appearing etc and needing to resize the windo a little to see all the options, but always works again on restarting the flight.
Replays seem easy to work with and no lags or stutters for me, and the usual ability to change the weather and conditions etc, switch cameras and all that.
Will it ever be fixed? It’s very laggy and unrealistic compared to the MSFS 2020 FCR. My plane still disappears when going too far, the engine sounds stuttering and is not smooth, and the plane appears to be going way too quickly.
Not my experience at all actually - see this video I recording using the tool for example. It’s working well for me - not sure how to fix the issues you have.
Well, I use the showcase camera as if it were someone taking a video on the ground, not following the aircraft. So that could be what the issue is, but it should be fixed.
If I switch to another option in replay tool, I can´t go back to Record option again! It is stuck in the one I did change to!
Not even if I restart my flight.
Its not good. Still does not replay at 1x speed and randomly accelerates itself. Also very stuttery/laggy. Same issues as in the paid 2020 version which I wasted money on
I think this tool is pure genius. The author has found a very clever way to make it not too memory hungry. It’s also a useful tool to make landing practice, you can for example re-start from Base or Final and then take control and land. It’s great.
can someone help me - I purchased the sim last night on xbox and have just completed my first a 320 flight. I recorded the landing, but it seems incredibly slow, and also the flaps and wheels dont seem to have recorded and operate if I move them while watching the replay - is this normal? am I doing something wrong?
For simple aircraft the replay can act as a save flight tool. When you want to save, just record a few seconds and then replay it whenever you want later on and “take control.” You may need to note how much fuel you have and then reload the fuel when you resume the flight. Probably the weather won’t be the same but it’s a start with saving flights.
Is it meant to lock out control inputs while replaying? I had the engine constantly run up and down as the tool kept setting engine power and resetting it based on my hardware input.
I’d expect something integral to the sim to be able to get past some of these limitations.
Also the flyby tool as cool as it is, seems to suffer from the really aggressive Lod range and your plane quickly becomes a blocky low lod model missing landing gear etc or disappears completely.
Instant replay also seems kind of useless, or broken on my end and barely captures a second or so of gameplay.
One thing I noticed is that the version of FCR embedded in MSFS 2024 is not the same as the version of the external app in its latest version. It’s either an old version or a stripped-down to improve compatibility.
I noticed this with the Fenix A320. The embedded FCR is not compatible with the Fenix. If you try to play a replay with the Fenix, all the aircraft animations will appear bugged, even the landing gear. However, the external FCR plays the Fenix replay normally, with all the animations working.
Another thing that bothers me with the embedded FCR is that there is a bug when you either minimize or close the FCR window in the sim after pressing the record button. As soon as you finish recording and want to stop, when you try to open the FCR again, the window remains minimized and I can’t maximize it, even pressing the maximize button several times. Sometimes it maximizes after several attempts and other times it doesn’t.
At the moment, I prefer to use the external FCR app for replay.
