Hello folks, I’d like to post this here for anyone experiencing some issues with the new sim - a lot of folks from my community have been finding work arounds and solutions for a number of bugs/issues so it might be helpful to pop them into one master list. Feel free to add to this
Slow Loading Time at startup - thanks to @Spac3Rat
Sync your PC clock Right click on windows clock > Adjust Date/Time > Set or select automatic Time Zone > Scroll down to Sync Now and press Sync Now
MSFS2024 Fast Launch
MS Store Version: Copy this cmd.exe /C start shell:AppsFolder\Microsoft.Limitless_8wekyb3d8bbwe!App -FastLaunch then go to desktop – right click on empty space – create shortcut – paste the above code into the target
For Steam Version: For steam → open properties of MSFS24 → Launch Options, add -FastLaunch in that field Community Folder location %LOCALAPPDATA%\Packages\Microsoft.Limitless_8wekyb3d8bbwe\LocalCache\Packages\Community
Change location of Community Folder
In the “My library”, there’s a settings cog next to the search, it shows the location of the community folder, BUT it also lets you set a custom location, and it will populate it upon restart.
Screenshot Location %LOCALAPPDATA%\Packages\Microsoft.Limitless_8wekyb3d8bbwe\LocalState\Screenshot
Disable Marketplace items – auto install
Locate the name of the folder belonging to said item here %LOCALAPPDATA%\Packages\Microsoft.Limitless_8wekyb3d8bbwe\LocalState\StreamedPackages If you have the Steam version it should be %APPDATA%\Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024\StreamedPackages Create a new folder in your 2024 Community folder with the same name and delete the original folder in StreamedPackages. Make sure these new folders are empty (delete the files inside) This will stop the content from being downloaded. Delete the empty folder you created in the 2024 community directory if you want to change it back to normal
Tobii
Go to Settings > Controls > Tobii. Click the cog by “General controls” and choose Duplicate.
Create a new profile with the name of your choice. Quit the sim and follow the Save Control Profiles - locally instruction to find the corresponding XML file. This process works for MSFS2020 so my advice is to copy the details from your 2020 Tobii settings located in the xml file.
Right near the top you’ll see entries for “Axis” with "AxisName"s running from 0 - 6. You’ll see numeric values assigned to each “AxisSensitivy”. Make sure to change the values in the 2024 xml file and replace values that like
0.0000039 to 39 . The 2024 version just wants 2 numbers.
The only numbers you need to edit are highlighted below:
They should look like this:
Don’t forget to reenable Tobii Experience if you need to, then start the sim. Also don’t forget to map keys for reset & toggling disable head tracking.
Save Control Profiles - locally
FS2024 has a similar file structure for your inputs.
Navigate to: Windows Store App: C:\Users"yourname"\AppData\Local\Packages\Microsoft.Limitless_8wekyb3d8bbwe\SystemAppData\wgs
Steam App: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\userdata\119889245\2537590\remote
Inside there should be 2 folders. “t” which is empty - then a load of numbers. Its the one with all the numbers you want.
Copy that folder and paste it somewhere safe. Inside are a load of other folders, each containing an XML file - if you open this file with notepad - you will see your profile name
Remove HUD
Settings>General>Flight Interface Cockpit Camera > HUD in cockpit – turn off External Camera > HUD in external – turn off
Fix no aircraft sounds
You need to delete the streamedpackages folder Located here:
For Store App: %LOCALAPPDATA%\Packages\Microsoft.Limitless_8wekyb3d8bbwe\LocalState\StreamedPackages
For Steam: AppData\Roaming\Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024\StreamedPackages
You can also try launch the sim in Admin mode - right click the flightsim.exe and run as administrator
A400M not moving
For those trying to get the A400 rolling, there is a bug, you have to use the plane EFB (not the MSFS one) to remove the chocks.
Zlin Aviation Norden – Livery flickering
liveries switch is linked to “beacon lights” switch, so turn it off if you have a physical switch for it – or create one and make sure its off
