No way to solve the problem. It happened yesterday before I use Windows update. The problem is still present after Windows Update. The thing is that, even if I solve this problem, I am no longer be sure when playing this game anymore, it is unreliable after 3 times experiencing similar things related to Microsft Store absurd behaviors that forbid me to play until I discover the “unlogic” solution with absolutely no clue about what is going on.
I am going to wait until Update 10, to see if that update solves the problem. But…, maybe the update also is not possible. I put this game away until I am really bored to try to solve this stupid problem.

Have you followed the troubleshooter checklist?
I have just applied “restore” (I tried with “repair” and did not work), and now FS 2020 has dissapear of my list of applications installed in Windows 10, so I can not even uninstall to install again.
MS Store shows me 3 entries:
- Microsoft Flight Simulator: Standerd Edition
- Digital Ownership
- Microsoft Flight Simulator
The 3 of them show me a red marker (1st time I see a red marker in MS Store) saying that “there has been a problem from our side” (it is a translation into english). I clic “try again” button and none work.
Right now I don’t have FS 2020 installed apparently, even though I did not uninstall and still I have 185 Gb of FS 2020 data occuping my H: partition.
Nice. I have NEVER experienced something like this.
Verify and Repair with the Xbox app is the only method that work for me, thanks for the suggestion!
Today, I have the issue. Every time I click the FlightSimulator icon to play it, it showed the Micosoft Store no matter what I did. I tried checking several things until I saw the icon of the “Library” in the bottom left corner (on top of the help icon) in the Microsoft Store App that has a dot.
That opened the apps Library and it looks like the Sim had some problems when it tried to update. I just click back to update it and start working.
Hope is useful for someone else

This one worked for me.
- In the Windows search bar, type Windows PowerShell
- In the menu, select “Run as administrator”
- In the Administrator: Windows PowerShell screen, type the following command and press Enter:
get-appxpackage Microsoft.GamingServices | remove-AppxPackage -allusers
- In the same window, type the following command and press Enter:
start ms-windows-store://pdp/?productid=9MWPM2CQNLHN
- Click Install** to install Gaming Services (select Yes if you receive the User Account Control (UAC) prompt)
- Restart your device.
Ridiculous, but expected. Good Flying All!

I have solved this problem 2 times in the past reinstalling windows. This is the 3rd time, and I am not going to spend so much time again. This game (or MS Store) is a coplete bug…, no matter if the game has a lot of effor if creates so much pain.
None of the methods mentioned work here. If you are lucky you can play, and if you are not lucky you desire not to have bought this piece of pain.
BTW…, 10 euros if you decide to change your gamertag in XBOX app. Money money money… everything you do is money.
That worked for me. Just experienced this issue today.
After nearly a week of unsuccessful attempts, reinstalling Windows, and many hours spent with Xbox consultants, I was finally able to find a solution to my problems on the Internet.
I will include them here for other people with similar MSFS installation hang issues to take advantage.
Here’s the FIX for anyone in the same boat as me:
- Open Settings —> System
- On the left column, choose the Storage tab then choose “Change where new content is saved”
- Change “New apps will save to:” to whatever drive you want (in my case, M: Drive)
- START → SETTINGS → APPLICATIONS. For this app: Microsoft Store, XBox, Game Services, Application Installer → perform an action - RESET
- Wait 2mins, then restart the PC (???)
Microsoft Store has now created the required folders for Xbox app to use.
Repeat steps 1 to 3 to change your location back to default if you wish.
It does not work. Impossible to launch this game.

Have setup a new windows10 and tried to install the MSFS from scratch, but no chance.
From the Store, I got redirected to the XBOX App were i can klick on install. The Download goes into quene but it abort with a errorcode 0x00000001 at 0%, so it isn’t starting at all to download.
Could it be anywhere at the system in the registration a little bit of the last install?
I see you’ve re-installed windows 10, have you got all the Window’s updates installed?
Are there any outstanding updates in the MS Store library that haven’t been installed?
Update system via windows update.
Also install optional updates.
It is impossible to launch this game. Everything is up to date. Always I launch the game it opens MS Store window. I think nobody really know what is going on.
