MSFS is not longer a fun and relaxing game

Flight was not this buggy. It worked great for me. It was hate-killed by the sim community because of its limited scope (HI and AK), didn’t have tubeliners and didn’t provide them an opportunity to throw their money to add-on providers.

It’s a different thing.

I’m in the industry as well, but this is not a dev being forced to meet a deadline by working long hours.

This is the management being happy to release a flawed patch “let’s just put it in the known issues”.

It just feels awkward, never seen anything like this at this level, tbh.

I was too busy enjoying other platforms of sims, but point taken,
best you stop your attacks on myself,I am allowed to view my thoughts on the testing that was done prior to release, it was tested for some time was it not?

best we leave it there now and move on swiftly.

well said… looks like the roadmap is planned to make money ongoing revenue…

And we are living in a pandemic. So they have to work from home. It’s not ideal.

Your arguments are solid, but… simply, to be fair, they could have put the product on sale as “early access”, as was done by Kunos with “Assetto Corsa Competizione”. At that point, anyone who spent their money knew they had access to an unfinished/full of bugs product.
People would have bought it anyway!

We did it exactly opposite … :upside_down_face:

Yess! It’s early access. So it had been sold like that. I agree.

I have been playing games since the Atari 2600. Are some games bugged, yes. But with the whole online DLC patch component, games seem more bugged at launch now than before. is this because you can patch any old time you want now and don’t have to be finished at ship date?
It comes down to expectations and saying that you should expect bugs lowering your expectations. This makes your money worthless because you will accept a bad product and a promise over a good product.
Game development is releasing everything early to avoid interest rates on business loans, so they can finish the game over time rather than have a completed finish game at launch.
I think the OP has a point, and dismissing it by saying he should expect it is wrong.

I have been a flight simmer since the first release in the early 80s, and I have been very pleased with MSFS so far…but what made this so much better than FSX was the scenery and graphics upgrade that it represents. For the graphics to take repeated steps backwards has been frustrating in the extreme. (I’m glad that many have a performance upgrade, but I have a fairly high end system that I bought so I could enjoy the scenery upgrades.)

I can deal with less-than-perfect. Not a problem. These last two patches have managed to take away the fun of both the simulation and the immersive scenery.

I thought I read that at least 2 of the top guys at Asobo, went out and got a PPL, so they would be familiar with “real world 'flying” – ( I wish I could have got the company I worked for to pay for my Flight Training !!)

What is not known to me is if they actually had any other RL GA / Airline pilots involved, or any professional controllers.
Listening to the ATC, it sound to me as if it is based on a novice VFR pilots comprehension of how ATC works, in Europe. - maybe with a little Vatsim knowledge added into the mix,

I so hope I am 100% wrong, but it sure sound that way.

Based on that, the #1 question I would like to hear the answer to from Asobo, is where they drew their Piloting & ATC knowledge from that got incorporated into their “game”

Unfortunately, now the Q&A sessions seems to be just based on Top user Bug reports.

I would very much like to see an in-depth Interview with the Key Designers, QA, and Management at Asobo, and these questions asked, as well as how their QA lets so many obvious bugs into patches.

But maybe, like the Alpha/Beta testing program, all this is on a need to know basis, and company confidential.

Certainly seems that “What goes on in Asobo, stays in Asobo” and PR spins like a Red Bull’s Extra’s over-revved prop.

Are you implying they’re slacking off?

Because it’s all scrum/agile ■■■■ nowadays. The target is two weeks from now. Don’t expect anything in between.

Yes, to much Scrum and not enough management !!!

Heh I perfectly understand you op. I’ve been a gamer since the early 90s myself, and even my steam library has more titles that I can remember. I’ve played good games, bad games, buggy games, and so on.

But MSFS is perhaps the first title I’ve ever played with so many bugs and incomplete functions that they actually have a voting system on the forum to figure out what to fix next hahaha!

I still cruise around a bit to do some sightseeing, but man, this game needs a lot of work. I was doing a tour of Japan this morning to do check out the new scenery, and I got about 3/4 through my flight that suddenly I just felt sick of it, and decided to alt+f4 out to do something else.

We need them being sharp not distracted. :grinning:

For me, MSFS has never been fun and relaxing. All I have been doing since becoming an Alpha tester last December is testing, bug reporting and troubleshooting…all that continues with added disappointment and frustration after “release” and purchase.

This is an excellent point. What have they said, one million players after the first or second week? I wonder how all those are doing.

I don’t know how many people read this forum, but thank God for it.

I don’t know what I would have done if I hadn’t found out from it that you need to keep APU on during flight after 1.8.3 or that you have to turn on the engine generators even if they appear on so the plane wouldn’t stop shutdown mid-flight (again, after 1.8.3) or that you should restart a few times or set ground density to zero in order to get an A320 that works (again, after 1.8.3) and all the other workarounds or just “yeah, that’s a bug, we all have it!” shown here.

Is it me or is this the first time I’m seeing some alpha and beta testers saying the game was very buggy, they reported all this and not much happened in that time?

As an outsider, I watched a lot of youtube videos before launch (there was about a month when testers or streamers were allowed to post) and everything seemed OK. Not one video mentioned bugs or crashes or unexpected behavior.

Negative. I didn’t open the vrf map yesterday and had no issues. But once you open it and close it, I’m sure you’ll CTD if you try opening it again
