MSFS: Live Dev Q/A January 26th Discussion

Doesn’t much matter at this point if former players are happy. Current players drive the subscription and 3rd party business model.

New to me but even better then.

DLSS however is not compatible with my RT6900

It was surprisingly simple. There were a few communication issues on our side as we’re in contact with so many plane makers and we didn’t understand the question originally as it seemed so simple. Other plane makers had resolved it. The issue was basically how to know when the sim loading is over, but the sim is always loading since it’s streaming in something. In the SDK for a year or so there is a camera status to let developers know if the sim is interactive. There’s also a sim variable if you have input or ran by AI. Nothing really to do with complex aerodynamics and more to do with loading. It took us time to understand the question since it seemed simple. The answer was in the documentation, but once it clicked, it was immediately resolved.”

So PMDG guys are just stupid boys who do not read the doc ??? :upside_down_face:
Roadmap… 1 aircraft every month

FSR is an AMD technology. Rather than using dedicated hardware to upsample, it uses software. That’s why it works on all recent model nVidia cards as well.

DLSS is a proprietary nVidia technology that uses the AI cores on the GPU to do the the upsampling. That’s not AMD compatible.

None whatsoever. They haven’t even really made a public acknowledgement that a water physics update is a thing they could do. I wouldn’t expect any action on this in 2022.

Could be they are so arrogant. I loved it when Jorg mentioned the Concord, lol

Personally, I found the propellor / aerodynamics video from Seb to be impressive. You can’t say they are not trying to build a complex simulation.

Let’s try adding this question about water physics for the next Q&A in february. Hopefully, we can get some clarification. It would give the sim a whole new dimension having proper water physics.

Agree 100%

Just wanted to clarify that some very wrong info was given in the q&a – the daily weather outage bug WAS NOT fixed, and as we’ve seen here, it’s confirmed to be client-side since you can fix it by changing the system clock.

I guess we then turn to what available evidence there is. Like the Navigraph survey. If there were high turnover of users as you suggest, the base would not grow. But it is. Happy to consider alternative evidence. BTW, a QnA session is a lot like a shareholders’ meeting. Big numbers turnout when value is down in order to grill the board. In good times, smaller numbers attend as satisfied shareholders normally remain quiet.

Thank you! Yes, unfortunately it looks like Jorg/Seb/Martial weren’t aware of these. However, I can confirm there are many in our system that the greater dev team is aware of, sometimes not all bugs go up to these three.

I’ll be sure to go through all these threads and confirm there is a corresponding bug report. Thanks!

No. That’s nvidia technology.

Can you give us the source for the 60 to 80 percent attrition? I always put the brakes on when people claim ‘analysis’ or ‘research’ says this or that. I provided my evidentiary source. The latest Navigraph survey. Your turn.

This is good to see, thanks Jayne (and @Broseph4245 for compiling the list). It was very interesting (surprising) that Jorg said there is a rigorous testing process related to achievements, as Xbox takes them very seriously (and by extension of Xbox as a company, I assume it equally applies to the PC version).

Given how broken so many achievements have been, I wonder how it reached the state it did, failing those rigorous tests. I guess we’ll never know.

Sadly, I unlocked several achievements that should not have triggered yet, but as nobody can remove them from my account/profile, I will never get to to enjoy the surprise on the day when I actually do/did taxi for 100 miles in total (‘Road Trip’ triggered after about 100 metres total, not miles), or enjoy some other moments like that for achievements you earn just by playing the game.

I wouldn’t mind if the player statistics were at least reliable but those were equally bad on release. I think many improved later but I still don’t trust them. I mostly ignore them now, but statistics can be fun to look at, so that’s also a shame.

Wasted potential. At least statistics are only a ‘nice to have’ than a core part of the sim. Logbook excepted, but there too we have issues. The list never ends

Anyway, it was a great Q&A and I love the new info and Seb’s presentation!

There are several, on Steam the current numbers look like this, for example.

This doesn’t speak to the claim of 60 to 80 percent attrition, but you mention there are several other sources. Back to you.

+1 100% Agree , Was gear to see Seb so enthusiastic …

I’m not looking for them anymore, I mentioned them here months ago. Of course, nothing can be found for the MS Store itself.
on Steamdb you can display the number of users with times. Sales were around 260k by November

Here you have a monthly chart

@Jummivana I mentioned this again months ago, but these streams are still lacking lower quality video options for some reason (only 1080p is available), making them nearly unwatchable for those of us with slower connections. If this cannot amended, could the bitrate of the stream be slightly reduced? Since we are mostly looking at static slides, it could be reduced to 3-4Mbps and still look good enough.
