MSFS2020 requires an update, but I'm not on the beta

I’m kind of afraid to launch it now…

Can anyone in the know shed some light on this please?

If you haven’t started it for a while, there’s a new monthly AIRAC update.

Regards

I just used it yesterday, and I am familiar with the AIRAC updates. However, those updates are much smaller in size and also have a different popup. This is clearly not an AIRAC update.

The release notes:

Also note the new game version in the top left corner… Previous version was v1.39.9.

Hi folks,

As always, please check the Official Microsoft Flight Simulator > News & Announcements section of the forums. The details about today’s MSFS (2020) SU16.1 release can be found there.

Thanks,
MSFS Team

But Seedy, I am not enrolled in the beta.

I am experiencing the same. I wonder if this is the Sim Update 16.1 patch? I haven’t seen any official announcement anywhere. If it is, I didn’t do any prep with my community folder, I hope this doesn’t mess it up. When that first download finished, another popup with a manditory update, this was less than 2 MB, it was so fast I didn’t get to see what it was. I’m launching into sim now.

This is not the beta. This is the final full release of SU16.1.

Thanks,
MSFS Team

Well that clarifies it I guess… thanks for the info!

Does it fix the horrible ground textures from SU 16? A rollback to SU 15 would be great. But does it fix them? Otherwise I’ll stay with the other FS from a different company. Thanks.

So the sim just updated to build 1.39.12.0.

Now it wants me to login to my MS/Xbox account, but the email field cannot be opened.

how do I sign in if the email field refuses to take any input?

Try unpluging any USB peripherals (other than mouse & keyboard), ending & restarting MSFS. I have no idea why, but sometimes, on my PC, USB peripherals stop one from entering text in sign-in windows.

Once on the forum I mentioned that if you have, for example, a Honeycomb yoke, try disconnecting it from the PC, enter your login details and then reconnect it.

@Halconfenix0

It should update when you start MSFS 2020 (at least it did for me on my PC).
