Unable to import a flight plan from the MSFS2024 EFB into the Microsoft 707…such a simple yet completely disapointing issue - needs to be fixed. Are there any QAs or people that test out the functionality of these products to the fullest before you release it out? Or are we just living in an era or purchase the full product and get everything in Beta and we’ll promise the product later?
I put the flight plan in the map like we used to do in 2020 and the garman recognises that. It may or may not work for built in ATC however. It’s frustraiting this plane was released before it was ready and worse, it’s been so many months w/o an update. It’s really due for an update but I fear it didn’t sell enough copies to justify any more attention. ![]()
It’s been broken since the MSFS2020 launch of thr plane.
The 707 is not 2024-native and as a result includes 0 2024 features, just like all of the Aviator Edition-specific aircraft.
Something I’d like to see happen at some point is for Microsobo to decrypt the 707’s major config files so that the community can fix certain things. As an example of something that needs fixing, I’ve noticed that the spoilerons don’t work at all in the air, which I think might be fixable via an edit to the flight_model.cfg… but it’s encrypted, so I can’t do that. Annoying.
I would expect that as long as the 707 remains a payware aircraft it will not be unencrypted, unfortunately.
That is sad, because the spoileron problem is really annoying when I’m trying to handfly the 707… it acts as if the vertical stabilizer has next to no airflow over it at lower speeds, and therefore wants to sideslip instead of turn unless I use a bunch of rudder, and I still haven’t entirely figured out the proper technique to turn the thing without causing oscillation on the yaw axis.
The problem is it isn’t even working in 2020 as it should. I expect even a free aircraft to have the flaps and nose gear working properly.
Yeah, that’s totally fair. I never owned it in 2020 but I only heard bad stuff since it’s release unfortunately.
Is there a way for future updates to include a ground handling option like in other aircraft such as being able to open doors and cargo doors.
At this point, I’m not certain any updates are forthcoming. It’s been nearly 9 months since the plane released, and there’s been nothing at all since then, with the plane remaining in essentially an unfinished state.
Ongoing problems include:
- The leading-edge wing flaps don’t work. This has been resolved by a community mod available on flightsim.to.
- The paintwork is made up of several “tiles” which don’t line up with each other very well. This has led to at least one livery creator on flightsim.to refusing to make any more liveries for the 707 unless this is fixed - and it still hasn’t been.
- The sounds, particularly those of the engines, are very unrealistic. The engines should be significantly louder than they are, and at high thrust settings, they produce a buzzsaw sound that makes them sound like a turboprop.
- The 3D modeling of the engine pods isn’t realistic - they’re supposed to be JT3D turbofans, but they look like a cross between those and the earlier JT3C turbojets, particularly the inlets.
- The side-opening doors for the nose landing gear are supposed to be shut when the nose gear isn’t in the process of extending or retracting; instead, they remain open when the gear is down and locked.
- The real 707 had doors for lower cargo holds, like many other jet airliners; those doors simply don’t exist on Aeroplane Heaven’s model.
This is not an exhaustive list, but I think you get the point - the overall quality of the aircraft is just not good, to the point where I personally think Microsoft should be somewhat ashamed to call it a first-party offering. The lack of any fixes or any other updates since the initial release feels like an extra slap in the face. It feels as if Aeroplane Heaven made some effort to replicate this iconic plane, but then released it in an unfinished state and left it that way.
(If anybody at Aeroplane Heaven sees this post: I’m not trying to verbally assault you, I’m just airing the same grievances that many other users on these forums have previously brought up. I’m sure many would appreciate it if you released a large update that fixed many of these problems, or even simply made a post on these forums addressing these complaints. I know you’ve been blasted for releasing poor-quality addons in the past, and I’m not trying to make that worse, but it would be really nice if it appeared you were actually trying to do something about it.)
and supposedly released a version that wasn’t the final one. According to their flight modelling guy who posted on here way back when it was released (as well as making a YT video about it). Apparently the LE flaps were working before release on their internal versions. On the version released to us all they don’t. (minus the fs.to mod, which is no use to xbox users). Quite honestly there should have been a patch a few weeks after release, but… FS2024 came out, “never mind that, look, we have new stuff for you!” ![]()
If there’s one plane I would have expected MS/Asobo to pay attention to, it was the 707.
I think it’s actually disrespectful to this true icon of the skies to release it in such an unfinished state - and then to abandon it as if it was a cheap toy.
Very poor show all around.
You couldn’t afford the fuel. ![]()
And I almost forgot career mode will spawn you in parking where your aircraft’s wing is through a whole building? ![]()
Don’t forget, they did pay attention. They delayed it because it was so terrible. Which begs the question, if they were okay with it releasing the way it is, how bad was it before??
Asobo and Aeroplane Heaven should be ashamed of themselves for this one…
In fairness, not Asobo. Microsoft. Asobo had nothing to do with the release decision. MS and AE released it.
It is kind of frustrating how we live in a time when everybody can communicate with anyone and yet there is zero communications from AH or Microsoft about the 707. For both parties the aircraft just doesn’t exist.
“Flight model guy” said that the version we got is not the version he had from AH and many of us thought “this is going to be a quick update” yet nothing happened for 9 months and nobody said a word, we posted in these forums the same questions over and over again and nobody from the team took the 5 minutes it takes to say something.
It is just very sad.
I came to the conclusion even back in the days of the beta for 2020 that this forum isn’t actually for feedback. It’s an echo chamber, full of issues and problems, probably the most inefficient forum and feedback system I have seen from a game.
The fact this was made and the devs don’t acknowledge anything is very poor. It often feels like a quick cash grab as opposed to actual decent support and an acceptable level of standard.
I’m so incredibly happy I never bought this thing, but I would really really love to see it in a state where it is worth getting. The constant lack of communication and transparency when it comes to products like these are just so frustrating. Is it too much to ask?
