In flight engagement of beta is a big no no in the caravan. It disrupts airflow over the stabs/elevator. It’s only for use on the ground and reverse only for landing rollout.
I figured based on the way it responded haha! The first flight I did with it was for the turbine engine rating in career mode so I wasn’t expecting it to go into beta. I need to figure out a way to add a physical detent or stop for the throttle.
Hello MS
It seems to me that your last “career fix” completely broke the caravan - probably one of the most used aircraft in career.
Not only do you introduced the “wobble on approach” and “wobble on breaking after landing”, now you even introduced:
The never shutdown engine!
I had now 3 out of 5 flights with the caravan where at the end of the mission where it says “wait for engine shutdown” the engine would not shut down.
Tried everything - even letting it run until no fuel, CTRL-Shift-E, you name it.
This breaks of course the whole mission and makes you loose HOURS OVER HOURS mindlessly.
I would suggest to put a dev to the caravan asap and hotfix that trainwreck asap. It’s getting ridiculous over here.
Thanks (probably for nothing but hey - we can try at least to speak up)
I hit this bug tonight… tried to run the initial Medivac flight. Bonus wackiness, the default flight plan gave me a 18 kt tailwind…
I have encountered this issue twice now. I had it in the Beechcraft Bonanza. Will have to add that to the blacklist of planes to never fly again in career mode. At this point, I am just left with a Pilatus and a Cessna 172…
I had this happen, and was guessing that the wind is causing the prop to keep windmilling. If it happens again, I’m going to try turning 90 degrees in the parking spot.
Also check to make sure the starter motor isn’t still on… I have a feeling it may not automatically switch off after some time like in other planes.
That sounds likely in my case. Might have been a flight where I just hit CTRL-E and then didn’t follow up to make sure that wasn’t still running.
I even let it run until no more fuel…
There is a problem with the fuel it starts you with. It is believed to be a bug. The current work around is to map the ‘Add Fuel’ command to your controller, flightstick, or keyboard.
I am on Xbox and assigned it to LT+RT+X. Before I start the plane I give it some fuel. Usually one combo button press is enough.
I also recommend finding and downloading the Pilot Operating Handbook (POH) for the plane. It has recommended cruise settings charts to help lower the fuel usage during cruise at various altitudes and temperatures.
I try to find the POHs for all the planes I regularly fly. I find POHs to be an invaluable resource for flying and they have increased the level of enjoyment I receive from the sim.
Prop goes into an overspeed condition as throttle is reduced.
Flying it now for the first time since the 2 patches have rolled out. Possibly the Dutch roll tendency is new since the patches? I did not see this before, shortly after launch. It is definitely less with the Yaw Damper engaged, which I had to do manually [Y/D] but it is still there. Has someone filed a bug report yet?
Ground handling turning radius is waaay too big like on alot of other GA planes of MSFS2024. With full rudder and differential braking it should be possible to turn the aircraft “around one wheel”.
Plus brakes are super weird and slipping the tyres causing waaay too long braking distances at low speeds. But that’s also not caravan specific as all the above also happen with the C172
Yes, I filed a bug report. I observed the same behaviour as you say. See the link below.
Thanks for sharing. Voted for it. Thanks also for doing that documentation. Cheers!
I was experiencing that on my last flight. It got quite severe. It happened with a 10knt crosswind that had an 11knt gust. Hopefully it gets looked into and resolved soon.
Yeah not sure I agree with this. I have integrated reverse with my throttle. I can’t get it to drop below Flight Idle with my throttle, let alone into reverse. I’ve been playing with the settings and make no difference.
Will not follow a nav plan in missions.
Massive pull to the left on takeoff power that’s not there in free play mode, regardless of weather or surface tilt.
Seconding this, the autopilot can’t follow a heading or a track or fly an approach without that oscillating… making me motion sick just thinking about it lol
