It’s not funny anymore. None of the five attempts to complete the mission on the Caravan in Career mode reached their goal. In the first one, I ran out of fuel 10 miles before the airfield, even though the plane was refueled for the distance. In the second one, I tried to add fuel with a keyboard shortcut and got an error after 2 minutes. In the third, at low wind speeds (5-6), there was such a shake as in a powerful hurricane, I was simply hit by the runway and thrown, which is why I crashed. In the fourth, because of the bombing by the Russians, my power was turned off (MSFS is not to blame))). In the fifth one, I got an accident right when I reached the red speed zone… there is not even any minimum margin. Is it negative karma or a bad airplane model???)))))
Exactly my point. If you have a detent and a lower range you can use, cool, go for it. I don’t so I should be able to configure it so that I don’t have to go into reverse and move my throttle “backwards” to taxi. There’s absolutely no reason I couldn’t have it set up that way, which would make complete sense and still be just as realistic.
How do you think my sixth attempt ended? It was over before it even started.
It’s just parked on the roof of the hangar.
UPD: Alt+N
UPD UPD
Attempt number six is an unforeseen error.
Three hours wasted. How can such an incomplete product be released for sale. I’m just shocked. Six attempts, Carl. Six attempts, that’s almost 18 hours. Am I supposed to keep trying to do these missions? I don’t think so.
The plane nose dives at idle thrust.
The autopilot seems to be broken. Aircraft sways left to right while on LNAV and aggressively pitches up when FLC or just AP in general is turned on.
That might be Dutch Roll. Did you have any crosswind? Even a slight one? It seems to be aggravated after the last patch.
Turn on the Yaw Damper to ease it a bit, but it is believed to be a bug.
I’m not a rael pilot, but flow many 100 hours the default MSFS Caravan. The new one has a lot of bug and makes flying to a challenge
Dutch roll on A/P is now a known bug that has been reported. Maybe search out that thread and add a vote?
Dutch roll, never heard of this, learning more each day. Is it a cheap version of a normal roll? ![]()
Damping it properly, especially if it is now dynamically generated in MSFS24 due to the improved aerodynamics, requires a pretty advanced autopilot if the result shall also be realistic.
I prefer a Swiss Roll myself, or a yule log for the holidays!
Swiss rolls are good. Boston creme rolls are good. Even dinner rolls are good. Dutch rolls are bad though.
What would be worse? Double Dutch Rolls or Dutch Oven Rolls?
What was worse was a rushed descent and botched landing approach in the 35A LearJet last week in 2020. Was carrying too much energy on descent and disengaged the Y/D too soon. The dutch roll that resulted was something I had not been treated to before LOL. IRL one would have abandoned that landing attempt and tried again after stabilizing the aircraft. For whatever impatient reason (was done with the sim for the day or whatever) I pressed on to see if I could get it on the ground. Wound up along side the runway albeit wings level but it would have resulted in a broken airplane IRL. That’s how real world pilots make history, one bad decision after another goes unrecognized until it is too late, or they just give in to the urge to press on.
Not very relevant to the topic but I still want to ask. I am the only one who when flying a Cessna Caravan at medium range, the simulator puts very bad weather. Constantly bad weather. The wind speed at the runway is huge and at right angles to the airplane, I crash all the time
I had a flight with reported VFR conditions that made me fly through a storm within 7nm of the destination airport. Luckily the cloud layer was high enough that I could see the airport and land. No RNAV, no arrival procedures, not even ATIS or AWOS at the airport.
If you are talking about Career mode, then it’s a known and logged bug.
It’s not the weather alone in career mode. Something in the flight model is messed up.
I had no issues with the paragliding caravan in career.
However I crashed the cargo caravan 4 of my last 5 flights at least.
I did calibrate my throttle with the extremity deadzone so that 0% of my hardware throttle corresponds with the notch of the plane throttle before the beta range.
I also deleted the streamed packages from the caravan, so it can redownload it.
Firstly compared to the free flight cargo caravan it does not decelerate nearly as good with throttle at idle.
Then the flaps 2 generate too much lift when you deploy them.
Third the landing feels like there is zero gravity.
Maybe it either calculates with a negative weight because it does not manage to load the fuel you select in the efb or it is some sort of malfunctioning ground effect or other lift coefficient. Even with raised again flaps it does not stick to the ground with approach speed of 60 kts it should fall to the runway instead of floating limitless.
Edit: Workaround for me in the career cargo mission is to switch to ground idle on approach instead of flight idle, deploy flaps 15 instead of full flaps, pray ![]()
Free flight issue(s) - I’m having engine malfunctions on EVERY free flight now. I went into debug mode and there is a wear/tear tool where you can see each item on the aircraft in real time showing how it’s degrading (there’s a LOT being tracked). In my case my Turbine Engine was degrading at nearly .5%/second - see the attached image. I can reset the % of health value but it keeps going down…and I don’t know how to “fix” the engine in Free Flight mode. I can’t find any parameter in the SimObjects folder even in the VFS that is encrypted…I can’t see the aircraft.cfg file because it disappears (goes hidden) too quickly from the VFS…even with show hidden turned on. Anyone have any ideas? I guess I should delete the aircraft from the streamed data to get it reset (redownloaded). Has anyone else seen anything like this in Free Flight?
And to answer some questions before they are asked.
- This happens on EVERY Free Flight now…multple liveries tried - no impact.
- I fly using normal procedures keeping engines in the green and never got a warning until yesterday.
- I’ve been flying this aircraft since launch…just started with this problem yesterday.
- No mods added that would impact aircraft (BATC, FSUIPC, Navigraph and an airport or two but i’m not at those airports)
Did you attempt to keybind Fuel and Repair? This may have caused it.
