Fuel - yes,
Repair - no (didn’t know that was an option)…i’ll try that but when I use DevMode to reset the failure value it does NOT get rid of the .5%/s reduction rate…just resets to ‘engine health’ value.
I should have been clearer sorry. So I had the same problem as you, but I was using the keybind for fuel and repair. When I changed it to the specific key bind for ‘add fuel’ on the ground, I didn’t have the same error.
Worth perhaps having a quick check of keybinds to see if any other options. The other option you can try is setting the fuel in the ‘manage aircraft’ section you get before accepting the flight for the final time. It gives you an option to add fuel - it DOESN"T add the fuel when you first jump in, but if you then restart the flight, it added the fuel.
ive never seen what the research version looks like. thought it was only me…
ok, I’ve troubleshooted this like crazy today and determined that the engine malfunction starts with the engine starter. BUT only in some weather conditions. I’ve been trying to fly for 2 days from Visalia (KVIS) to Oakland (KOAK) and the real world weather has been low fog and vis in Visalia. That has resulted in a rapid deterioration of the engine when i turn on the starter…every time. If i turn the weather off of real time and make it clear - there is no problem after I reset the flight. So it’s something weather related with the starter. Current METAR for anyone who really knows the C208 - maybe there is a caveat in the flight manual about these conditions.?.

That does sound odd. Maybe consider doing a formal bug report? I know it’s a pita but perhaps it raises the visibility of the issue?
I’ve got one open.
This is my most used aircraft in the sim so far. Really have been enjoing the updated plane. Once i got used to it, I now prefer the button mapping on Xbox for the throttle detents
Yeah I’m beginning to see the differences in free flight and career.
Career is completely hosed and it will probably be a cool minute before all the ticky tacky issues are resolved.
For instance sometimes the caravan will follow the provided flightplan in nav setting other times it wont. It banks more than 40 degrees for every turn. The new paint schemes are nice because it was just plain white. However my company name isn’t in color on the side like it is on my c172. Lately I get going somewhere on a cargo mission and it just quits with a stop code and just no reason. I have done an additional reinstall and no doubt a lot of issues were handled that way. Now with the stop code thing after the update I’m doing it again. I have top of the line everything on this computer and 5gb service on my internet. 300gb cache on a 4tb drive that I have 2 of so it’s just not me. Anywho it’s still the greatest sim on earth.
My first trip to holland last year and I discovered the hole in the wall Kroketten…
Once you popped your first kroketten, you never go back…
Maybe we should rename the Dutch “roll” as the Dutch “Kroketten” as in, once you pop one, you never go back..![]()

Ok I actually noted some idle prop behavior and Ng numbers from the real plane today. Idle (not beta):
Low condition: 1100RPM, 52Ng
High condition: 1300RPM, 64Ng
Some more incorrect behavior I’ve just now noticed is that when you first load in cold and dark, the propeller will be feathered, which is correct. However, moving the prop lever forward with the engine still shut down, it’ll push to full fine (which should be impossible) and then won’t feather again.
Haven’t tested it in the Sky Courier but I think I saw in another one of your posts that you’re on that bird currently? I wonder if this is wrong in all the turboprop models. Might add it to a writeup if you’re tracking bugs and incorrect behavior on the 408.
Yeah definitely not correct behavior for pretty much any constant speed prop- no oil pressure, no angle change.
So I am on both aircraft right now, I was hired into the caravan and upgraded to the SkyCourier earlier this year. When my currency runs out for the caravan next year I’ll be full time 408.
Speaking of the 408, I actually refunded the limited edition or whatever it was that had the 408 because that was the only plane I was interested in, beyond just the gamepass version of the sim which I already have. Between the 408 being basically an external model only with who knows what underneath and the fact you can’t even use it in career mode was enough for me to refund. If the 408 starts getting some serious love or Carenado takes me up on my offer to SME for them I’ll get back into it. But for now gamepass version only for me.
Totally understand the refund. I did a cargo run with the 408 earlier and for whatever reason it just decided to start making less and less torque at cruise in clear air. Ice vanes didn’t seem to help it at all (thought maybe it was modelling ice for some unknown reason), so yeah, it’s pretty unusable at this stage of things. I’ll keep you in mind if things improve. Like you say, you’ll have some valuable perspective to keep things moving if they really decide to fix it (and the 208) properly.
Back on topic, do let me know if you need an FO on your SME journey! I’m sure between the two of us we’d have enough class material and war stories to build the darn thing ourselves.
Every time i fly the caravan in a career mission, I get ridiculous winds and turbulence
I don’t think the wind and turbulence issue is just related to the Caravan. I get ridiculous wind for every mission. That was supposed to be fixed in this past Tuesday’s update but it looks like it wasn’t.
The ridiculous winds are occurring for many flights and many planes.
It seems the Caravan is more susceptible to turbulence than some of the other planes. It seems like an issue with the flight model that arose from patch 2 and hadn’t been addressed yet.
I love the Caravan, jumped out of a lot in RL and flew it quite a bit in 2020.
Been running some TO/Landing cycles with it.
It seems a bit sluggish or sloppily at low speed compared to the 2020 version, and seems to get a bit of an elephant bum wobble up if you overcorrect, if you know what I mean. Size, mass, inertia. Anyway, a different feel from 2020 which felt more predictable. I’m using the same linear T16000M settings.
It could just be the new flight model is more sensitive, and I need to be more sensitive, is my initial thoughts, not the sim or the plane.
I’ve tried it with default ~47% fuel and no cargo, and also fully loaded on landing final exercises in a very low wind environment ~2 kts headwind on landing, so no wind/turbulence issues really.
I don’t have any problem with take off or landing, it’s quite easy, but I’m just commenting on the flight behavior I’ve noticed as something to get used to. Not a deal breaker.
I’m just flight testing in free flight mode, not interested in career until it gets a few more rounds of fixes and a freeplay/creative mode.
What’s other’s experiences/impressions of the flight behavior in the same type of environment?
The wind was fixed only for missions that use preset weather. So introductory missions (gold icon when you try a new activity for the first time) and any mission before you take the IFR certification. Every mission after IFR uses live weather, so the winds will be high.
Track vector and Select ALT arc don’t work in the Caravan G1000. Strange because these map settings work in the C172.
And the drunk autopilot really must be fixed. Flying with the Caravan is nauseating.
