Only took you 1 hour to fix? I spent all day most of two days getting my controls and keyboard back to where I had it nicely set in 2020. Half of that was deleting all the default assignments they put in. And they won’t let you rename your own control profiles. WTF.

Working better now and MS responding to my criticism of the visuals:
Apparently, Jorg and Sabastian are saying they’ve been completely taken by surprise at the amount of people trying to launch the sim on day one! WHY??
Why were they surprised??? There are c15 MILLION FS2020 users. They had ALL the info needed to get an accurate idea as to the network/server requirement! Pre-buys etc etc. So they think it was ok to just use 200,000 as a simulated trial!! What colour is the sky in your two numpties world?! I, and I can imagine most simmers, would have told them that a 200,00 test was nowhere near representative as to how many would want to log in and download, and a COMPLETE waste of time - OURS!!
AS to the rate that they fixed the bugs in FS2020 (still a bug fest four YEARS on!), this was/is MONTHS away from a ‘proper’ launch. Wake up numpties - you failed, in a BIG way.
There is some confusion about this.
They didn’t test more than 200,000 so they never encountered the cache issue and the freezing at 97%.
And the only time that really could have caused a problem was at launch, when many people were just downloading the sim at the same time.
So yeah, they should have tested more in hindsight, but the problem was quickly fixed.
It didn’t arise because they expected fewer players, but rather because they just didn’t ever test max capacity beyond 200,000 and therefore missed catching a bug before release. Seems they just assumed if it worked at 200,000, it would keep working at higher counts.
Continuing the discussion from 24 hours in, any positive stories now?:
We did not pay full price for eventually, do you go to a car dealer and buy a car with the promise you’ll get an engine eventually? Do you go to the grocery store and give them money in the hope’s that in a year or so you will be able to eat?"
MS only sold lies and wont ever sell me anything again, not on any platform or store.
Well I had yet another great flight today. This time (still in the C152 and it will be that way until we can download the planes because it seems unwise to me to constantly change planes to force redownloads of different planes parts and their liveries) – this time from Nelson to Wellington into the morning sun…which was incredibly realistic - even down to the bright sun induced slight headache and wishing for the trip to be over! hah! gotta love it.
and then I saw the jetway trying to dock with…
I hate the ■■■■ thing. I tried to see if I could get a refund as prev nothing works apart from Free Flight (but even that is extremely temperamental). Career just won’t load - at all. Ever. And the others won’t load either. None of my previous FS20 marketplace purchases are there either. The whole thing is an utter and complete shambles. Gotta be THE worst bit of software released in the last 10-20 years. What a mess.
Finally was able to boot into the game. Wish I had tried one at a time but didn’t, changed/did 2 things.
First- I booted up my xbox series s and installed the game to see if it would work. It actually worked better than I thought it would. Took a test flight just using the controller and quit the program and shut down the xbox.
Second- Booted up the PC and just before launching the game, checked the system tray and QUIT Navigraph Sim Link.
The game loaded, and I was back in.
Leaning more to the installation on the Xbox as the solution for me but can’t rule out SimLink. Haven’t seen any complaints about it.
I’ve got around 5% of my 2020 stuff transferred over, but none the aircraft don’t boot up and most of the liveries don’t show either! None of the airports I bought are there either. But, that’s the very least of the FS24 issues! I think I’ll put it away until the new year now as its just not fit for purpose right now.
Maybe 1% of my marketplace purchases have transferred over.
None of my Premium Deluxe aircraft are showing up either.
I sent in a support ticket and all i was told was restart the sim…what do they think ive been doing? Must have restarted at least 100 times.
Back to 2020 for me
Sim has froze twice in a row now with the A400 plane or at least been very slow to load and become fly able at larger airports
Exactly. Their answer is lacking of the situation and disregard for the year long promise of items being virtually all ready and in your library at launch.
Ridiculous
Fired it up again this morning here in AU, started my stopwatch and it took a total of 57 minutes to load into the initial menu screen, more than 39 minutes in I was still on 14% activating packages, I have no idea what it’s meant to be doing at this time, looking at my router’s activity it’s not downloading anything at all, am I just stuck in a queue here because the only time the router starts to download things is when I load into an airport which is another 5+ minutes so yes all up it took over an hour and then it’s still
When I eventually loaded in everything is still blury when loading, cockpits, the tarmac, the runways and all the trees are minecraft blocks.
And since that last patch when I am in a flight wanting to go back to the menu it CTD’s. I’ve always appreciated the efforts and passion from Asobo over the years in giving us an amazing flightsim experience but the decision made here to force cloud streaming to this extent has proven that it’s simply a solution looking for a problem and if this can’t somehow be adjusted to function similarly to 2020 I fear the worst for flight simulator as a product all together as it seems broken beyond repair at a base level. After seeing all the footage there clearly is a decent sim underneath it but their cloud push that nobody asked for has made it inaccessible!
Hope to be proven wrong but to say that my initial disappointment then turning into frustration and now into anger is putting it mildly!
This morning fired the sim up to check if any of at least PD content would start showing up. It took 3 mins exactly to get in.
Seeing nothing still i went and restarted the sim…this time 62 mins to get in timed precisely. It was stuck on 14% activating packages for most of this time.
And still no PD content or more 2020 marketplace content either.
This only makes me more convinced im doing the right thing by staying with MSFS2020.
Ill keep checking MSFS2024 now and again though in the hope a miracle happens but im not holding my breath.
there are too manny issues with this sim.
to name abasic list of things that i have encounterd in the last few days besides being a member of the 97% club
-in career mode the sim lets me start on helipads with GA aircraft for no reason…
-cant cold and dark start B737 Max BBJ in Career mode
-Pusbck only pushed back 5m ion carreer mode
-in freeflight atc randomly dies
-Some airports that were suposed to be in Premiumdeluxe are showing as Autogenrated airports
-there are photos of planes on taxiways and runways at some airports i have visted like EHAM
-i have spotted Floating or flying jetways at manny airports like faro at southern portugal
-Real life air trafic is not working
-Player name plates are not showing
-the sim freezes up aftet trying to stop a freeflight with the following aircraft
-a330
-b747 all variants
-Beluga
(this is what i have tried and experienced)
- When using the MCDU in the A330 i found out that we cannot enter sids and stars so fligtplans are impossible
- in the boeing 737 the fmc does not care about what is in the FMC it follows its own path somethimes even entering a too steep bank that causes the plane to crash
- the boeing 737 max overspeeds
- boeing 737 max ggoit stuck manny times when climbing at FL300 while i had set altitude ofr 360
- got 2 instances in careed mode that i was spawned in a building and that caused the sim to think i colided and failed the misison, reputation went from A (almost S) to D… i stopped playing Carreer mode since then.
- Pilatu PC24… ust does nto work, sunshades are stuck.
- pilatus pc24 thrtoole and all other movable parts stuck (including Landing Gear)
- In career mode i found out that there are a few missions wirth the Cesna 208B Grand Caravan wich makes you fly 4 hours to deliver cargo… but you have way too little fuel in the plane to make it to your destination…
-somtimes certain airports in free flight are not spawnavble and sometimes they are. Makes Literaly no sense
And these are just the few thing that come to my mind now, i have spotted so manny bugs and issues that i have decided to go back to MSFS2020 for the tiome being becasue that actualy works and is less frustrating.
i have no clue how this has been released like this. it realy does not live up to the hype.
the only real imporvements i have seen to this new sim is the weather and lighting and wind effects.
besides that there is nothing ground breaking.
it could just as well been an upgrade fior MSFS2020 sold as a DLC to make the lifespand of the sim longer, They realy did not need to bring this out in iuts current state.
even having said this i still dont mind having bought it, but it should have worked just fine out of the box… they had 4 years to improve uppon 2020 and i just cant understand how they have did exactly the opsite,
just a small example but they said that choosinfg a plane would be easier in the new sim…
they made it worse.
in 2020 we could choose as an example from the follwing
-jet
-rotorcraft
-turboprop
-airlines
and ect
in 2024 it has become worse now we have
-plane
-helicopter
-lighter than air
-other
how is this better and more straight forward???
its literlay a step back
and im not even going to talk about the way we have to setup a flight in the world map it has vecome worse and more complicated.
like manny here i think that if Asobo would have said to us the following -
Sorry the sim is not finished! but we haev a product in our hands that is a Beta version wich we like to release to the people that have preorderd since they were expecting a product, and release this as a closed beta so that we can reoprt issues and Asobo can trouble shoot and fix some major isues before official release somewhere in teh near future. i would have respected them more for being honest and supported them fully
i know i said a lot but this is literlaay how i feel now and had to get this out somewhere
I saw a post with 25 hours of playtime and a successful refund, but it was a ‘manual’ process and not via the automated route.
Saw another with 10 hours mentioned too. Hope this is of use.
Im going to try get a refund on Steam as its to much.
Playtime showing 16 hours and thats from just trying to get in the sim and try to get my controllers working which by the way they still are not!
First time i load the sim 3/5 mins max which is great but when i do a restart like this morning over an hour to get past 14% activating packages. (My Internet is 1GB)
So I waste hours everytime i restart the sim to check if any marketplace 2020 purchases show up or my PD aircraft FINALLY start showing up…but of course nothing so far yet!
Havent had one flight since release because of all this.
Its ruined my excitement for the sim.
Too much is too much now.
Honestly the worst 140 Euros I have ever spent. So disappointed.
If I don’t get a refund i won’t be surprised. In that case ill keep checking MSFS2024 now and again but thats it. Thank Heaven for MSFS2020.
Completely agree. Also, some of the planes are way too sensitive to control inputs. One example is the P-51 that comes with the game. You can pitch and roll like an F-22, ffs.
The whole game just feels very rough around the edges still, and needs some serious patching in the coming weeks. Until then, I’m not going to bother with it much.
Hello
At home I have a CDT at each launch
CDT between 50% and max arrival on the track.
I couldn’t make any flights from the beginning
I tested with MS 2024 alone and also with MS 2020.
