[MSFS2024] De Havilland Canada DHC-2 Beaver

In the real thing for correct CG travel they emtied the rear tank first if at full load to shift the CG forward. This if no additional tanks where installed (as is the case in the sim anyway).

Are you leaning in flight? Haven’t flown any missions in MSFS 2024 and cannot say I am likely to, so no base to work on. The change in pitch behaviour with flaps changes is so ridiculously wrong that I lost interest in this bird a while ago. Perhaps SU 3 addressed it, not holding my breath.

Sorry if an obvious question, but some “experts” here clutch game controllers (after doing homework, before brushing teeth).

Am I doing something wrong? As I understand it correctly you are supposed to fly that beauty with flaps in the cruise position , but every time I‘m trying it I will get a penalty in career mode and my reputation gets a nasty slap in the face. Is there really a speed limit with flaps in cruise? I‘m always cruising at around 140 mph and that’s really nice for cargo missions where time is something important.

Flaps in cruise mode means flaps up. And certainly there are flap speed restrictions on the Beaver as with most planes.

Flaps in cruise are no flaps. Looks like there is some misunderstanding?

Yes, all this is based on a misunderstanding. Somewhere I read about flying that aircraft with flaps in cruise position and I didn‘t realized I actually had them in climb all the time. Me beeing really stupid for realizing cruise is 1 notch further to the right. Thank you for claryfing it.

Gosh, I really love that aircraft. The way you have to 3-wheel land it combined with it remarkable short field characteristics. It‘s so much fun to practice better landing skills with the beaver.

Please make a clickspot or something, to remove the canoe in floats version.

Now I did around 30 cargo missions with it and l‘m really happy with the DHC-2 in MSFS 2024. All that aircraft really needs is a little polishing. Is the dirt acquiring model maybe still from MSFS 2020? Is the mixture control working as intended? I hope the plane will get a little bit more attention compared to others just because it is one used for career mode.

EDIT: There is also a less important issue to mention. In the used Cessna you start your cargo company with you can actually see the cargo you have to transport and the quantity varies from mission to mission. The belly of the DHC-2 always stays empty. All you can see is a lovely little first aid kit. This is a little not important detail but it surely has an huge impact when it comes to immersion.

Have you figured out a fix for this problem? I’m having it too

I’m pretty sure the chocks are stuck and invisible on the float configuration for the beaver, like a few earlier users mentioned above. I can confirm that as of 10/1/25, starting from cold and dark is still impossible because you can’t taxi or move.

You are talking about starting cold&dark with the amphib version on land? That works here.

Agreed. Its been a few weeks since I last tried but it DID work. After months of being broken.

Dang, I must be doing something wrong then?

In the keyboard control settings we have the shortcut to get in and out of the plane, “Take Control of Character” usually “SHIFT + C”, in my case as shown in the picture “SHIFT + <”.

We have another setting to avoid doing the walkaround which also removes all covers and chocks, “Quick Preflight”.

If you assign the same keyboard shortcut to both options you can enter the plane directly with the walkaround already done.

(In some planes the “Quick Preflight” doesn’t remove the cockpit cover when the planes have this cover, so it’s necessary to click on the cover first and then click again to skip the walkaround.)

Another possibility is that you have assigned some keyboard shortcut to the same keys that perform the plane’s pushback, “Toggle Pushback”, usually “ALT + P”, which makes everything more complicated.

Not just the cockpit covers. On some planes (The G111 I think) it also does not remove the wheel choks.

In the case of the Beaver the “Quick Preflight” releases the plane.

Thanks for letting we know, I didn’t know about that case.

That fixed it for me, thanks so much!

While taxying I am able to stear with ailerons just as if I was in a car. Wierd but handy!

after update 4, when you skip to landing this plane spawns at 0 speed at lower altitude which makes him flat spin

Even after sim update 4 the VOR bug is still exist :frowning:
