MSFS2024 Deluxe/Premium Deluxe editions - 2 questions

I own MSFS2020 Premium Deluxe, and after reading the FAQ, I have 2 simple questions remaining (hopefully the answers are simple).

  1. If I buy the MSFS2024 Standard Edition on launch, can I later upgrade to Deluxe or Premium Deluxe by only paying the price difference, or would have have to pay the full price again?

  2. Are any of the 2020 deluxe/premium deluxe aircraft getting updated with the new 2024 features (e.g. flight model, ground handling etc), and will I need to pay for the 2024 deluxe/premium deluxe editions to get those new features, or will the fact that I already bought them in 2020 entitle me to get those new features for free?

Example: I already own the 787-10 because I have 2020 premium. I understand that if I buy 2024 Standard, I will still have access to a working 787-10 in 2024 (because my content will be brought over), BUT…will I get any of the new 2024 features, or would I have to purchase 2024 Premium Deluxe in order to “unlock” the new flight dynamics etc. etc.?

On MSFS 2024, you will be able to purchase Deluxe and Premium Deluxe edition aircraft individually. I don’t know if they will still sell the edition upgrade like in MSFS 2020 after this change. If they do, it would be like an aircraft bundle and in total, you’ll probably spend more than if you had purchased the Premium Deluxe edition at the beginning, but it won’t be exactly full price.

I seriously doubt MS/Asobo will allow two different versions of the same default aircraft in the simulator, one ported and other with new features. And since this detail is not mentioned anywhere in the FAQ, especially in the part that says that owners of the Deluxe and Premium Deluxe editions of MSFS 2020 will have their content brought over to MSFS 2024, no matter which edition you buy, it’s easy to assume that you will receive the upgraded version for MSFS 2024.

Thank you for your thoughts. Although it seems like you don’t have any additional info that I haven’t already seen, and you are basically just guessing/assuming.

It was mentioned in one of the livestreams that if you have the upgraded editions of 2020, you will get the 2024 versions of all of those airports and aircraft in 2024, but not any new aircraft or airports added to those tiers.

Hmm, ok. So when evaluating whether to get the higher versions, it is literally just down to the new planes and airports then.

Pretty much - though it’s worth noting that what’s said in the live stream has not historically been 100% vetted, so it’s still possible that won’t match. Nothing in the FAQ confirms that.

I think we’ll have some definitive answers on launch day.

There are many topic about this question already. Please find a few embedded in this topic.

If you have 2020 PD it does seem like you get the 2024 version of your existing PD aircraft and the only benefit of paying for 2024 PD is the new PD addons (15 or so ? ) . It is not a huge amount more expensive, I probably will just get it, but if money is an issue you may be better getting standard and cherry picking addons you know you will fly and getting them individually.

With regard to buying standard 2024 and upgrading later, I suspect you need to buy it in full again.

I realise that many similar questions have been asked and answered before, but similar does not equal same. If you read my question carefully, you’ll see that I’m asking about whether the planes that carry over to 2024 will receive the updated 2024 features, if I am NOT paying for the 2024 Premium Deluxe version. I don’t think I’ve seen that specific thing answered in any of the threads you highlighted (although I may have missed it in the weeds of the comments). Also, the MS FAQ does not address this.

From all the replies here, it seems that nobody ACTUALLY knows, as MS/Asobo have not really answered this question anywhere. It’s all just conjecture and assumption. It would be nice to have an official statement or updated FAQ, but I guess that isn’t going to happen, and a few people will have to take a risk and find out the hard way tomorrow. That’s not going to be me. I will wait and find out.

I just think that if there really were two versions of the same default aircraft in the same simulator, with the best version being exclusive to those who bought the Deluxe, Premium Deluxe or Aviator editions of MSFS 2024, it would be too important a piece of information to be left out of the FAQ’s.

Jorg has already mentioned that you will receive the upgraded version and we can take his word as official.

That has been answered in one of those threads. The answer was yes, this has been confirmed by Jorg. So Jorg has answered this question, and I think that it’s even in the faq.

I think OP wants there to be an official written statement from MS/Asobo explicitly stating this.

This is Jorg

In the Twitch Q&A about a month ago, Jorg verbally said “yes,” if you own the PD version of 2020 and you buy the Standard version of 2024, the planes would be upgraded to 2024 version. But like I said in other threads, he answered it very quickly and did not talk about it further in detail.

Based on Jorg’s answer, I would say it’s very likely that your 2020 PD planes will be upgraded to the 2024 version, but it’s not 100% guaranteed. It’s not 100% guaranteed because the FAQ doesn’t use the word “update.”

Anyways, I am in the same camp as you. I’ll just wait for the release tomorrow and then ask around, and I think we will get the answer pretty fast. We only need to wait 1 more day.

I got an official written response from MSFS support regarding this:

Hi, the word “update” is not in the FAQ. I think we should use precise wording, because “update” has a whole other meaning. And the last I checked, “update” was not used in the FAQ for 2020 PD owners who buy the 2024 Standard version.

Oh nice, that is the first time I have seen a written response from an MSFS employee using the word “update”! That makes a difference. But it’s still only 1 day anyways so I don’t mind waiting until tomorrow.

Did you watch the video in the second post above? There Jorg says “yes”

Yeah, I am the one that posted that video of Jorg saying “yes”

Anyways, it doesn’t matter. We’ll know the answer today after it’s released.
