On a scale of 1-10 (with 10 being best), how do you rate your Overall Enjoyment of this aircraft?
I keep seeing this Stab Trim Runaway warning, but I don’t know why or how to deal with it. It displays and then goes out and then displays, etc. as I am flying, including when the Autopilot is on.
I really like this one, too. I’ve always loved amphib flying boats, so I’m really stoked that we have three new ones in FS2024.
I see your issue with the Stab Runaway Trim CAS message as well. I think it has to do with the trim position nearing an extreme and not necessarily the length of time running the trim. I always get it near the pitch trim TO index.
Nothing really show-stopping with the Seastar, although I did have one issue where I paused a flight with the aircraft on autopilot, came back to it an hour later, all was good until I disengaged AP and the airplane dove abruptly. Did an active pause to troubleshoot and noticed that all three trims had run out to full scale.
The other thing that’s goofy is the soft keys on the displays. On the PFD, the right side softkeys select the radios (vice versa on co-pilot PFD, they’re both opposite the radios) and the left side keys don’t do anything. On the MFDs, the softkeys don’t do anything. I have zero experience with Primus Apex, but I’m positive that can’t be right.
My name is Andrey, it was me who was working on SeaStar together with Dornier Seawings, WT and Microsoft. Glad to read quite positive feedback here. Regarding the issues, yes we are listening, collecting and keep polish the project.
Trim tab message - it is the indicator of trimtab position on second MFD and it is a “green” limits for it, going out appears an caution message. Probably the flight dynamic needs to be tuned a little, but engine throttle position (shouldn’t be a 100% on regular horizon flight) and aircraft load affect on behavior a lot, check it out.
Screen softkeys, Honeywell Primus Epic 2 glass cockpit used in SeaStar as well as in PC-12 NGX and PC-24 (not sure) included into FS2024. There are a small difference between the installations, one of them is radio indicators positions on PFD (suddenly) We’ll fix this with future updates.
Spawn behavior, yes kind a tricky because of some changes between 20 and 24, I’ll check it out.
This is a great default airplane. I am also getting the STAB trim runaway message and can’t get it to clear. This is a bit of a nuisance. Otherwise well done.
Also I can’t find how to hide the EFB or scope in and out on the map
Flew this around last night! Fun so far! My only issue was that I could not get the flaps to work. Neither my mapped joystick buttons, nor manual clicking the switch worked. They didn’t budge an inch.
Nothing special about the flaps there, just check the correspondent circuit braker is in (highest row on overhead right in the middle). And switch is not animated if you use joystick or keyboard, this is in “known bugs” list.
Sometimes if I use the EFB to change the plane load it tilts backward, not sure if this is a bug or if there is some special procedure to load the plane.
Another question: Any tutorials on how to use the Primus Epic flight planning?
One more: I get a “Compare fuel quantity warning” in the ND. What does it mean and How to fix it?
I can’t get the trim to even work on this aircraft. It ignores my trim commands and the trim stays firmly in the original takeoff position. I have checked my joystick assignments and the buttons are correctly mapped for trim up and trim down. Does the trim have to be enabled somewhere in the cockpit?
I had no issue with the trim (other than the aforementioned STAB warning). I know that doesn’t help you, directly, but it does add a data point for comparison.
