Bug Report here:
Place your mouse cursor on this, click and hold LMB and drag up or down to zoom.
Thanks Nixon, I will need to try the zoom again. I spent half the night either clicking on that spot or looking for a stray rotary knob somewhere in the cockpit! I didnāt try dragging it up or down though.
Eventually got my controls back. No idea what was wrong, but they were missing on every other aircraft too! So I quit the sim, checked calibration in windows and it was fine, but decided to reboot windows anyway, and fresh sim launch and controls working again. A mystery. Iām really lost for words with fs2024 at times. Been using fs2020 for 3+ years and Iāve never lost the comtrollers function completely before.
Anyhow, I used and flew your flightplan and it was fine and I had IFR clearance the whole way. Itās fun doing something different for a change. ATC still a mess trying to get me to climb to 11000ft on final, but thatās another story.
What I did note was how poor the LOD over CA was from 11000 ft. All the terrain looked soft and rounded, I dont think Iāve ever seen things that bad in fs2020, which was always sharp and detailed. It could be my broadband speed, but Iām really thinking the dialled back LODs are to blame. Landed at Santa Barbara with a low LOD/not fully loaded airport and a ridiculously blurry runway. Not sure Iām really enjoying this whole streaming methodology. The LODs seem to be set way too close in.
Are they limiting/controlling server bandwidth? Same for big airports too. Itās quite a vishal regression / shock after fs2020. I do admittedly need faster broadband (i still have ADSL) though, but itās not available here yet.
Is anyone having a problem with airspeed and altitude not being displayed in the PFD after patch 3 ?
Yes I removed all the covers in the walkaround but still plane flies normally even AP works but there is no airspeed or altitude indicated.
Yes. I even said the same things and wrote up a bug only to discover the static port cover on the right rear flank of the aircraft.
Take another look.
Exploring this aircraft this morning: quite a bit to take in!
Like others have mentioned, I am unable to take off from water. Works fine from land though. I checked everything I could think of (gear up, trim nose up, power OK) but still doggedly refuses to lift off the water. Did anybody find any cause for this issue or am I just missing something? Note that I am not at an āofficialā water runway: just a lake out in the wild.
For such a unique aircraft, a manual would sure be niceā¦
EDIT:
Just to expand: I initially started from a custom point on a lake next to an airport, using the custom starting position, on ground, ready for takeoff. Went backwards & forwards, gear up, sea mode, flaps 20 (first notch), trim quite far up, no go.
Quit the flight, started a new flight on the runway next to the lake and took off no problems. Flew to a different adjacent lake and landed perfectly. Taxied to the end, turned around and tried to take off again, again no go.
Just feels sluggish and not reacting to the elevators. And I did check that the elevators are working, as confirmed with the land takeoff.
OK, after exiting out of the sim and reloading, takeoffs now seem possible everywhere. Assuming it was a āfirst time useā type of glitch.
Now I seem to be struggling with exaggerated ābounceā on takeoff run and landing roll. Even small surface chop bounces the aircraft like 10+ft up in the air. Seeing as this is at a time when you do not have sufficient air speed, it gets raaaather exciting! Anybody else ever seen this?
in autothrottle, the front and rear engines alternate thrusting. the throttles look like they are walking. Left, right, Left, right. they also overtemp in autothrottle. Iām pretty sure thatās not something that a computer controlled engine mgt system would allow in real life. If it did, i would be right upset. am i wrong here? the AT on the PC-12/24 planes do it too, so i suspect itās a code issue with the WT Apex.
What do you mean with Autothrottle? I am quite sure the Dornier has none and I donāt find one either.
If it can be engaged by some key command I am quite sure this is a bug or not really intended; so I would say since there shouldnāt be one there canāt be some thing like a wrong behaviour.
A/T on turboprops is actually a quite rare thing in general - the only I can think of right now are the latest TBM and the A400M.
AT mode does work. I have it using the same bindings as my pilatus and Vison Jet. I have a switch set for
ARM AUTO THROTTLE
Its on the same thumb d-pad as:
DECREASE AUTOPILOT REFERENCE AIRSPEED
INCREASE AUTOPILOT REFERENCE AIRSPEED
So when im in SPEED mode and not FMS AT on the vision jet i can set the target speed.
Its very helpful on descent as it will automatically limit the top speed as you drop gear and flaps. Its Primus Apex, so it works identically to the PC-12/24
I see nothing in their features brochure regarding any sort of Autothrottle:
and yet, when you hit that switch, one starts working. documentation is no match for copied code from different platforms. im telling you, bro, its got one. Promise. (it just doesnt work properly, LOL)
It is, most likely, a bug. There are times when the code exists within the Autopilots that allow for āfeaturesā to be enabled when the aircraft isnāt actually equipped with said features.
If youāve somehow managed to tap into that functionality then I wouldnāt expect it to work correctly.
Itās like elevator trim works for many aircraft that IRL donāt have it.
Edit: aileron trim it is.
or aileron trim.
Right, thatās what I meant. Thank you.
Yeah I get that, as I said, the real aircraft doesnāt have A/T so whatever you might be asking for is missing the point.
Itās a common āFeatureā in flight sims that you sometimes get hidden functionality just because the dev didnāt think about it.
Reiterating this again.
I must be the forumās #1 Seastar fan.
I cannot believe that Iāve fallen in love with a glass cockpit airplane. This is so unlike me.
I hope some of the little issues are getting sorted and will be fixed in a pending update.
This is one of two airplanes that come with 2024 that keep me wanting to come back and battle 2024ās idiosyncrasies for.
I really love this airplane.
We need a manual with some performance figures!
I think the Seastar has the same issue as the PC-24. Inseat of one engine fuel flow, the per engine indicators show 2x the total fuel flow. The total fuel flow becomes 2x what it should be. According to official specification the range should be closer to 900nm, but with full fuel tanks and cruising at 15000ft I can only get around 400nm.
