Thanks,
MSFS Team

Only the modern, refitted variant is available in ’24 for me.

No engine sound…

Utter mess EFB dose loads wait to all ‘seats’ always out of MAC%

This DC-3… has some things to be desired with the model.

It looks pretty good from far away and places you look at heaps such as the cockpit windows and cockpit interior, but up close, man is this thing a mess! None of the rivet textures form a straight line and are really janky, multiple areas are very low poly, such as the tail and especially the rudder, and a lot of the belly, and some parts are inaccurate such as the fairing shape where the wings attach to the fuselage.
Let me show you some of them…

That livery looks like an AI generated an approximation of a DC-3. Is that 2024? These are 2020 pics:

I use to fly this with duckworks also in 2024 is very enjoyable

I watched a video that said none of the new features work - preflight/inspection/opening doors, etc. Can someone confirm?

I left dc-3 (xbox 2024) full power with closed cowl flaps on the ground for long time, not a single problem. Nothing has been improved in this plane in terms of systems fidelity. :smirk::smirk:

One way to check is to add a 2020 DC-3 livery to your 2024 system. If it works, then it hasn’t been upgraded to 2024, and it will not have any 2024 features.

I would think, however, that whatever opening doors it had in 2020 should still work in 2024.

@Maxuss1579 … see above…

i alway advice u if u are on pc to use duckworks mod also in fs 2024

I don’t have FS24 and at this rate I’m seeing little reason to get it. The DC-3 is one of my favorite planes and if it didn’t get the pre-flight/wear and tear features then I already can do everything in '2020.

This reminds me of Gran Turismo 5, where half the cars had interiors (i.e. full features), and the other half had a silhouette dashboard. MS/Asobo, how can you advertise features and then not have the features?

Ok, you’re confusing me. Nothing from 2024 is getting back ported to 2020 except for some aspects of scenery, so I don’t understand your original question about confirming pre-flight and other features. The doors have always opened on the DC-3, and the plane is unchanged in 2020.

The LL and FF planes will be upgraded in 2024 in the future with more features, maybe. Being an AH plane, I doubt the DC-3 will get that stuff, but, that’s an unfounded assumption.

From Day One, Jorg said the standard planes would have the 2024 features, and the LL and FF aircraft might be upgraded over time. Being 2020 planes, there’s no guarantee they will be upgraded, and, personally, I think that’s a reasonable business decision.

I do hate that Jorg suggested it would take developers 2 weeks of work to upgrade existing 2020 planes to 2024 status. That is completely false. The format of 2024 aircraft is pretty much completely different from 2020, and is still in development (2024 was released way too easy).

I’m not sure what’s so confusing. I never said anything about back porting or otherwise anything changing within '2020. I am asking about stated features in '24 because I don’t yet have it, and so can’t answer for myself.

I guess I forgot that statement about LL/FF planes “being upgraded post release only maybe” - that’s pretty weak. But, IIRC, the DC-3 is neither of those as it was added as part of the anniversary update, wasn’t it? So I consider it a base-level plane. The more recent C-47 was released separately as a FF. This still smacks of Gran Turismo 5 and I find it simply unacceptable. I am very glad I did NOT buy FS24 at this point.

You are correct. It was added in the 40th and it is included in the Standard Edition of the sim.

I would have expected it to support the 2024 features. I’ve not, yet, bothered to check it out in 2024.

The thing is, systems fidelity (well, wear and tear) is a Career Mode thing and doesn’t seem to exist outside of it. As I am observing, the DC-3 isn’t available in Career Mode, so the point is moot, at this stage.

None on the LL/FF yet have walk around on them in 2024, though the sim still starts you outside on the ground with the aircraft cold and dark.

Map something to change toggle character,
And it will put you in the cockpit as per 2020.

Though in on Xbox so no mods and the DC3 and beech 12 both fly much better that I remember them doing in 2020

So, yeah. I just loaded 2024 and the DC-3 metal “classic”.

• Upon loading into the airport, my back is to the aircraft — classic 2020 aircraft compatibility issue
• No chocks, no protective covers
• One, yes one, interactive pre-flight object — the left aileron only
• I walked anti-clockwise 3/4 of the way around the aircraft and the sim crashed my video driver

Yeah, welcome to the 2024 experience. It’s so much better than 2020.

EDIT:

Thinking on this, what happened?

”Hey, Aeroplane Heaven, we’re going to need you to update the DC-3 for 2024’s feature set.

”Okay.”

Months go by… release nears

”Uh, I only got the left aileron working for pre-flight.”

”No problem! We had so many pre-orders that we made our ROI objectives, so it doesn’t even matter if it works or not, we’ll just stick it in there.”
