On a scale of 1-10 (with 10 being best), how do you rate your Overall Enjoyment of this aircraft?
Very nice recreation of the Ford Trimotor, but I’ve noticed a few things and I’m not sure if they’re working as intended. The solenoid switches for the left and center engines stay on throughout the whole flight and can’t be turned off, while the right engine’s solenoid shuts off by itself. The left and center solenoids also flicker between being on and off.
The gauges tend to flicker when the aircraft is stationary, which I don’t know if this is intended.
Another thing I’ve noticed is with the light switches. Sometimes they work fine, but other times they stop working entirely. In some cases, they’ll work for a few minutes and then turn off completely. Also I get constant ‘Incorrect Fuel Mixture’, but the engines work fine.
For context, I spawned using the ‘Fly Now’ button on the runway with all systems started up and used the Wheels variant, which appears as ‘NewGuinea’?.
As far as I’m aware, none of the MSFS local legends/famous flyers have had substantial updates for FS24, although Asobo has indicated they’re at least working on making some of the more severely broken ones useable in FS24.
The developer of the Trimotor hasn’t really updated or fixed any of their LL/FF releases that are broken in that simulator (the 707, Stratoliner, and C-46 all come to mind), so I’d be very surprised if the Trimotor got a FS24 update.
They said on one of the developer streams that they were starting to work on updates for some of the FF/LL aircraft and there have been updates recently to several of them but this is the first time I have heard somebody identify what has been fixed. I don’t know why they can’t have a change list somewhere detailing what has been fixed.
They are finicky for timing and process. Setting your view so you can see prop, floor switches and toggles helps
Set mixture full rich.
Prime 2 or 3x
Floor switch and wait for it to pop up.
Immediately click toggle, get mouse over magneto and watch prop. As prop starts spinning start counting seconds. You should be getting smoke from the engine too
The really finicky part.
At the 4 second mark (not less, maybe a little more?) spin magneto to both. It should fire.
This worked for me 2 days ago. I use the garmin cockpit. Hopefully the avionics don’t matter
