On a scale of 1-10 (with 10 being best), how do you rate your Overall Enjoyment of this aircraft?
The Cabri was a gem in the last sim. It seems a little bit more refined and the governor fighting the throttle when assigned to an axis has been fixed from 2020.
I had some trouble starting from cold and dark. following the checklist. The engine did not go above 580 RPM and engaging the clutch did not work either.
But on a very positive note, the Cabri now supports force trim release! Map “set helicopter force trim release button” to a button on your cyclic. When in flight and in a stable attitude, press the button and more your cyclic to the center. Release the button and this is your new stable center position. You even hear the trim motors working while you do this.
Not sure if this is realistic in the Cabri, thought it had more of a beep trim (forward/back/left/right) instead of FTR, but hey it works very well so I won’t complain.
It’s barely flyable for me. The tail rotor is stupid twitchy, preventing fine control. Using an Xbox controller, barely pressing one of the triggers to yaw left or right will gently turn the heli. Pressing the trigger a frogs hair width more will send me spiraling out of control. Other aircraft are not this bad, so I highly doubt it’s a controller sensitivity issue. I have also tried it with the Xbox controller assist off and on with no change.
The tail of my G2 also vibrates.
I wasn’t sure if the problem was with the controller settings so I tried installing the MSFS2020 G2, but the FS2020 version was stable with no vibration. The screen doesn’t shake either.
I’ll have to check that out! If it’s vibrating now in 2024 that is a realism improvement!
I don’t have direct experience with the G2 IRL, but every other helicopter I’ve been around on the ramp, the tail slightly vibrates and bounces a little when running due to the vibration from the tail rotor drive shaft spinning inside the boom.
That other X sim has had this since V9 with the dreamfoil R22, and now the default one in V12 as well.
It’s pretty much what I said the first time. There’s either yawing way too slow or spinning out of control. There doesn’t seem to be any middle ground despite the trail rotor being mapped to the analog triggers. FS20 isn’t like that.
Sorry, I was responding to the other post about the tail vibrating. I visualized that completely differently than what you are describing as an overly sensitive axis.
Have you tried adjusting the sensitivity to see if you can get the controllability where you want it? not a permanent solution, but it could help towards solving the issue.
Nothing like getting wires crossed now and then. Lol
I may go try to adjust sensitivities at some point, but the indicators on the adjustment screen are broken and so not show results, so would take extra time to dial it in. Other aircraft don’t have that issue, which tells me it’s something in the G2 coding. They have a lot of flight model and related bugs that should be getting fixed, so I may just wait until then.
