On a scale of 1-10 (with 10 being best), how do you rate your Overall Enjoyment of this aircraft?
On this B2 version is missing the tailweel lock lever, the trims and flaps indicators doesn’t works, beta range in flight is impossible to engage. Too bad…
In MSFS 2020 I loved flying the Blackbird/Milviz PC-6, which I bought on the Marketplace. No luck yet in MSFS 2024, so I figured I would try the “new” native version. Well, so far I have not been able to start it up from Cold & Dark, in spite of following the checklists religiously. Did the walkaround, removed the chocks and covers, checked all the boxes for Before and During engine start, no dice. The torque and ITT are stuck at zero, setting the controller to Low Idle has no effect… Any ideas? I started the Blackbird PC-6 hundreds of times, so I think I understand the proper startup sequence.
I would second all the critiques above/prior, but also add that the entire reason I fly this aircraft is the STOL capability enabled by the Beta Range propeller brake functionality, and the reversible propeller which allows for ground handling( three points turns) in tight spots (one way remote strips). I cannot figure out how to get these functions to work (despite using the same Saitek yoke/throttle quadrant hardware I’ve used with the same aircraft/powerplant combo in FSX and MSFS2020 ( where I eventually got a reversed range below “0” on the throttle axis for reverse thrust and a Beta Range set up below “0” on the propeller axis. It just doesn’t work yet here, in the awesome new version…
Elevator trim gauge shows “full nose up”, trim controls don’t work. Refueling “works” if the refuel function is mapped to a keyboard stroke, but still no luck with a cold & dark start. Fuel valve is in “off” position after a runway start. This plane is an unholy mess.
The classic MSFS2020 PC-6 finally got its ADF indicator in a patch. So I am kind of surprised that it was now removed again for the 2024 version.
The ADF radio is there, but it has no way of displaying what it is receiving.
Not sure if it is replicating some real panel from a bird that got the indicator removed at some point in its life (and not the Radio?), but it certainly seems a bit silly.
Seconding that this aircraft is far from being in a finished or acceptable state for release.
Elevator trim does not work and the respective gauge on the dash is stuck in the fully nose up position.
Taxi is stupidly unrealistic because you can’t feather the prop or use Beta range. As such there is far too much power causing drastic over-speeding with regular foot brake inputs needed to control it.
This is frankly an embarrassment, especially given it was in msfs2020. What happened to the concept of simple playtesting prior to release, or were these missing key features just considered as acceptable for release? Shameful.
Same here. Does not start the engine from C&D, Elevator Trim not working , Tailwheel lock missing, didn’t find a way to map the prop feather command or reverse thrust command to the Bravo Throttle… I hope the Milviz PC 6 will work in FS24 soon because the Asobo version is a huge mess.
I just tried the Asobo Porter for the first time and had the same issue. It loaded very slowly with blurry decals and gauges for minutes and it started to be a stuttery mess shortly after that, with 97% VRAM usage (I have a 4080 Super with 16GB VRAM!). No such issue with any other aircraft I’ve flown so far.
The FS2024 Porter seems to be very poorly optimized. I gotta try and see if the Blackbird PC-6 works in FS2024 already.
EDIT: for comparison, I just loaded up the Blackbird/Milviz PC-6 Porter and it has a VRAM load of 65% sitting at BELP. Everything is set to Ultra or High.
Been flying the Blackbird analog PC6 in 2024 in Papua (a lot) and am generally quite pleased. Flies better lands better. Avionics are bugged but not necessary for short hops anyway. Anxious for a completely upgraded 2024 version and willing to pay as needed. The Porter is an unbeatable all around plane.
