Multiplayer do you use it?

Not that I have noticed, I’m sure it’s a possibility during events though where there is a ton of traffic. Weather or not you use model matching and the models themselves possibly could too.

vPilot does have the above option to help with performance if you have issues.

I tried FSLTL the other day with its traffic injection, but man it shaves off about 10-12 fps when I turn that on.

If I just use FSLTL for model matching with Vatsim, any performance drop there?

I like multiplayer. But the combat jets are annoying to me lol if i could remove only them it would be perfect. Also some jets buzzing every major airport lol ugh

Most of the time, yes, I do! I don’t care if people do aerobatics as long as they do not mess my plane. I appreciate even more that there are traffic options to suit my mood of the day.

I love to see a well populated world out there, and a good interaction between player / multi / ATC / AI but I know theres still stuff to fix to actually achieve that properly, if possible. I am too lazy for VATSIM or other VAs.

I think it’s going to depend, if there are like 20 or 30 aircraft in your vicinity then it might. I’ve flown during very busy events and quite frankly performance is rather good, dunno if there has been a significant drop in FPS though. I personally can’t notice it it does and I don’t really care for FPS so I never check it. As long as my sim is smooth I’m happy.

I don’t have an Xbox anymore, and I’m not aware of any way to import flight plans or weather presets from outside of Xbox. There may be one, I’m just not aware. EDIT: Looks like you can, but only if you have a pc too? lol. Load Simbrief Flight Plan on Xbox - #17 by Topher420247

That said, you don’t really need to use any specific weather preset to glide in ridge lift. You can just select any weather preset, and then set your ground wind speed to 6 knots, and set the wind coming from 90 degrees to your direction of flight. In other words, if soaring along an east or west ridge you set the ground wind to blow out of the north or south at 6 knots. If soaring north or south along a ridge, set the wind to blow out of the east or west. Then just soar along the downwind slope, because the ground wind will rise up that slope and give you tons of lift. Enough to pass 150mph in a DG-808, maybe 170.

Now, certain clouds types in MSFS DO currently produce thermal activity, Thermals, Up & Downdrafts - Realism Update/ Airmass Simulation - #422 by ANRI8496

All in all, soaring in MSFS is a serene experience. But it’s not just peaceful, it’s challenging. You’re constantly making decisions in a way that you don’t have to in powered flight.

You just need to find the right group, then I promise you it’s 100% worth it. I like to fly bush, so I joined a bush group. After I got to know the guys and spent some time around them, I found out that I was simming in a group of mostly real life fight instructors and professional pilots.

I could be flying along with them in a group, and then one second later I’m asking a RL 787 pilot how to fly the 78. Same guy also flew 737’s, and flew DC-3’s for Buffalo Airways. One of the guys is a retired Australian bush pilot. Those guys would answer my stupid questions in heartbeat, and they’d tell some outrageously funny stories.

The other factor which I enjoyed, was the international nature of it. We had regulars from every continent. Some of them could barely speak English, but I really enjoyed their company. We had a cat from Japan who was a regular. They were all fun to be around, though.

Sure, there was some clowning around. But those guys had some serious stick skills and the bush flight were fun.

I think multi player is one of those features for game playing. My guess is that Simmers unless they are in a serious group wont use it. I never do. I find it disrupting.

Oh it’s quite fun trying to soar with live weather as well.

You can ride thermals over towns pretty well, it generates them based on the colour of the ground I think, but it’s hit and miss everywhere but over towns.

Ridge lift works great and the added gusts and wind variation makes it quite interesting

Puffy cumulus clouds also give you a nice bit of lift, the taller and more billowy the better.

I honestly can’t wait to see the improvements in su11.

To be honest, I never thought of doing that.

I always spawn in at the gate. The only time I’ll spawn in on the runway is if the game crashes enroute. Then I just want to get back into the air ASAP.

Ever since FSLTL came out I’ve turned off multiplayer only had it on so the sim wasn’t as empty, turned it off because I like to sim realistically, so stopping for other traffic using the right runways etc. But it always annoyed me with people racing around the airports, not waiting for the plane currently waiting to take off to take off using the wrong runways. I know people can do what they want but I prefer to keep it realistic

No only vatsim

I’m working up to trying VATSIM.

I signed up and took the initial test.

Just need the confidence to give it a try sometime.

In the meantime, no, I don’t use MP.

Yes, i think it’s fun to goof off and watch the shenanigans in multiplayer. It tends to be focused around big airports, like JFK, LAX, ATL, HNL. It’s also cool to stumble on a big flight group and see where they go.

You can spawn in the air too after a CTD - just select a waypoint from your flight plan (or any custom point close to where you had your CTD) on the world map.

You might need to hit active pause right away to configure the aircraft (eg if flying the 737 or CRJ with cold and dark default start profile) and you may not be at the right altitude, - you can fix this with slew mode…which can take a little time but is generally still faster than starting on the ground again.
