NeoFly: fly missions as a bush pilot in MSFS

Hm, not too happy with this version because of the db. I downloaded the db-editor as posted on Discord but I can’t manage to get the Caravan in the game. Somehow NeoFly always comes up with the default C172 no matter what. Editing the db is a chore too because you have to copy data cell by cell because the order is different compared to the aircraft database? I like the previous txt file setup more.

Furthermore: the app doesn’t show the money you can earn with a mission? And I don’t see more or longer trips? And it’s still very cumbersome to check which flight you can actually fly with the selected plane: as said I am stuck with the C172 and it can only do just one or two cargo missions…

Think I’ll wait until this has evolved a bit more.

The pay for each mission is shown in the mission table, under ‘pay’.

To search for longer trips edit the filter dist(ance) next to ICAO at the top, by default it is 50.

You only need to know, the max Payload and max Pax number of the aircraft.

Just a suggestion while this is in development, why not play in sandbox mode and buy the aircraft you want.

I’ve been using the past few days. Misunderstood the need to add the cargo weight within the simulator, but I’m finally completing missions. I really appreciate all the work you’ve done on this.

I will check again tonight but the entire column wasn’t there…

EDIT
Pay is there alright! Don’t know how I missed that yesterday…

Good idea. Do I actually need money first or can I buy it right away? Ah well, I’ll see that when I’ll start NeoFly tonight.

EDIT
I started a sandbox game, got the Caravan, opened the db, started a non-sandbox game and copied the Caravan data over the C172 date in the new db. I also changed the qualifications. So now I finally can play the career mode the way I want to. NICE!

Found it!

Liking the longer distances, but I can’t fly them with my c172 because of the payloads. Would be nice to see lower weight limits so I can keep using the same plane for long trips.

A small request to the dev: let the app remember the last window position! Would be convenient. I always run NF on my 2nd monitor and always have to drag it to it and then make it go full screen. Not a real problem but for instance LNM does remember the window position so it should be possible, I suppose.

Another request: a filter option that will only show jobs you can actually fly with your current plane.

Regardless of my wishes: NF is working fine here and a real nice addition to MSS! Makes flying a lot more fun!

EDIT
While I am at it: postal deliveries with a time limit keep on having the same time limit regardless of what time it is. There was a job wich had to be delivered before 15:59 and half an hour later that limit still was the same rendering the job useless because that had passed in the meantime. So my request is a time reset everytime you press Search. It seems that right now time only is reset when you quite the entire app. (?)

Maybe youre unlucky with the random generator but I usually get options of 400+nm trips with under 500lb of cargo.

If you have a desktop shortcut on the 2nd screen it will open on your 2nd screen. If wont remember size though.

Regarding planes and missions, Neofly doenst know what plane you are going to use (if you have more than one) so thats the logic behind it. So its select a mission. Then select which plane you would like to use… I understand your reasoning for mentioning it though. Maybe that will change in future

The reset thing… You could try searching another ICAO and then search at the one you are currently at. That may reset it. I cant remember off hand. FYI - once the deadline passes, the mission will regenerate.

I see those but mine are secret passenger missions which require senior captain rank.
Edit:going to use sandbox mode for now.
Edit 2 : An option to choose the amount of cargo would be great. Pilots of small planes would then have more missions to choose from.

Hello!

Wouldn’t it be more appropriate to calculate the pay depending on the distance traveled rather than the straight-line distance.
when you do mountain missions with a small plane, you have to follow the valleys and it takes a lot longer.
Or maybe add a distance bonus in%?

I saw my engine indicator in the hangar was orange after only about a dozen flights. Is this based on running at too-high RPMs, or is a dozen flights about what you can count on between overhauls?

Its just a very basic implementation in the current version based on time flown.. Its on the to do list to enhance it.

I can see merit in the idea.

Neolfy doesnt look at flight plans though. You would also factor in pilots flying around for no reason too.

A couple of things I’ve noticed today, after taking another look at Neofly:

When sorting columns such as cargo, it’s sorts by the first number rather than the whole number, so 864 sits above 1300, for example.

Is it possible to take on two missions at the same time? If I see two missions going to the same location, and are within my carry weight, can I pick them both? When I selected one, clicked fly, I noticed that when I picked the second one it replaced it. I did not click the other button to actually start the mission, so maybe that is how you do it?

Something else I’ve had twice now, that didn’t happen yesterday.

On sloped runways, with fragile cargo, I get a report that the cargo is damaged, and I’m still on the ground. I think it is detecting my descent along the runway, and considering that a hard landing. Oddly, it reports the mission as a failure, but it is not removed. When you get to your destination, the mission then fails after landing.

Going to experiment with slew mode to get in to the air on sloped runways.

Slew mode works perfectly.

I am correct that new missions always centre on the initial base? When I fly 100 nm east of my initial base, the one I chose when starting my career, and look for new jobs at my new location almost all of them are in the direction of my initial base. There are no missions 100 nm further east. I’d like to start a career on the US west coast and work my way to the US east coast but it seems NeoFly wants to keep me in a smaller area centered arount my base. Is that correct? Anything I can do about it?

In the latest version, if I crash, is that plane taken out of my hangar and you get a 152?

I just crashed my original 172 now there is a 152 in my hangar.

You have to do an edit of the NeoFly database. Not hard. There’s instructions how to do it via the NeoFly site or Discord.

New missions center on the base you’re currently at, as far as I can tell. I’ve wandered kind of far afield from my original base, and it’s taking some time to fly the missions that bring me back closer to home.

That’s what I’d expect but it doesn’t seem to work like that on my PC. There are only just a few missions I can actually fly and they usually bring me back in the direction of my base. I find it impossible to work my way east from where I started. Maybe you can only do that when you have a bigger plane and more jobs (at a higher level) you can fly…
