No smoother or less smoother than any other driver for me, as I would expect, because Nvidia gives no attention to this title.
Nvidia’s marketing will be sure to mention it after Asobo does all the work to add DLSS support though.

I had to go back to 472.84. The new driver gives me huge stutters on my 3090, in VR and in 2D. 472.83 in comparison gives me butter smooth performance on highest settings :o
Well it makes perfect sense to me that newer Nvidia drivers may not work as good with flight simulator, for the reasons I gave before. However some people are apparently unable to activate DLSS with old 400 series drivers, so keep that in mind if you care about that sort of thing and run into trouble with that.
thanks for letting me know.
I didn’t have problems running DLSS on quality. Smooth performance all the way.
That’s good to know but be aware you may run into problems (probably missing features) further down the line. I always recommend downloading the latest stable version but you are probably right that 516.59 isn’t it. For me Hags on sees the return of the dreaded blue tiles that often precede a CTD.
I think DLSS 2.0 started with driver 445.xx … but in meanwhile are newer DLSS specs…
It doesn’t. it’s dependent on hardware and settings and maybe on graphics driver. I got much better performance with it on. I’ve got a RTX 380ti and a Ryzen 7 5800x with 32gb ram and had a lot of stutters and bad performance in general because I was heavily limited by main thread. With everything on ultra (apart from LODs, usually at 100) and render scaling nearly maxed out, my card was idling about.
So apparently what HAGS does is pass on some of the heavy lifting from the CPU to the GPU relieving some of that main thread work. Naturally this won’t work on an already maxed out card probably making it worse. My card still doesn’t reach 100% unless there’s very heavy cloud, but the main problem here is bad optimisation in the sim. I think Asobo is working on that. We can only hope.
HOT FIX DRIVER…
The hotfix addresses the following issues:
Open Issues
NVIDIA Display Driver Installation Error - “An unknown error has occurred”
If you run into an installation issue with NVIDIA GeForce Game Ready Driver 516.59, please download and install the previous Game Ready Driver 516.40 driver first and then proceed to reinstall the Game Ready Driver 516.59
Here is the skinny version of the Nvidia 516.79 Hot-fix driver. Much lighter download with unnecessary bloatware removed. Ge-Force experience is removed too…
552.22 - Clean Version | guru3D Forums
As a reminder, CptLucky8 shows you how it is possible to create your own ‘skinny driver’, it’s so easy all you need is to edit a file in notepad and delete a few folders from the Nvidia driver folders in the .exe file before running set-up!

Driver works fine, thanks for notice. I updated ‘just because’, not expecting anything about MSFS to change really.
10 series must not be updated

Studio driver? Can’t see any benefits by using that…or?
As with many of these things, some will claim its faster, some slower, and others still will say it makes no difference. Best bet is to sit back, relax, and take a Pirin tablet. ![]()
…I took a Piña Colada instead a Pirin tablet ![]()
Haven’t seen a good Birdcage reference in a while. +10 Internet points for @hobanagerik!!!
Last time I took a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug it nearly killed me so I think I shall pass on the idea. (full on anaphylactic shock caused by a single ibuprufen), my only allergy too which I find a bit strange.
I always use the studio driver, I may be completely wrong but i think it goes through more testing than the quick-patch “new game ready!” versions
