New release : Aerolite 103

Bought Aerolite on SimMarket last month. I don’t have any of the above mentioned issues. It flys perfectly. It’s my favourite in VR because I’m outside with little obstruction of forward view. All gauges function correctly and I can trim it beautifully with trim wheel. Never had tire sinking issues. Could that perhaps be because my gear is in down position on switch panel?
Also have Power Solo, with it’s engine in front and tail-dragger which obscures view somewhat. Love the huge tires and it’s power, great for bush and beach exploring.

I like the plane, the reversed throttle is a bit weird, but it doesn’t really impact functionality in my opinion. The sinking below ground is really annoying though

OK, so you know the drill. Yeah, the Bleriot is fun but it does take a lot to keep that pile of scrap in the air! Fiat, by the way, is SimSkunkWorks, not AT Simulations. THAT one is around on SimMarket. AT Simulations, unfortunately, only sells direct. It’s also my least favourite vendor to buy direct from as you can never log into their website with your account or anything else. And they don’t notify you of updates most of the time. And when they do, they ask you to find the original purchase e-mail with the download link (as that link never changes)… It’s a pain. They really need to make it better.

I agree with all of your other comments too.

Is there any mod to have the pilot visible in VR in aero103?
I saw mods to have co pilot on other planes…

It would be better if it came from the devs though so it was a proper part of the aircraft. It does feel weird in VR flying a ghost plane, but it happens a lot in flight sims, I’m starting to get surprised when I look down at my real body and see actual hands and feet.

I actually like the plane it fills my need for something that looks good and can fly low and slow with great visibility perfectly.

I am just frustrated that so many very minor glitches (like the phantom retractable gear which causes the sinking below ground) , which if fixed would make it perfect, are still around many months later.

With regard to showing the pilots body it has always been problematic as firstly people will get upset it does not look like them, but more importantly it blocks the view of various controls in a way that can only be encounter by making the pilot semi-transparent or able to be made invisible the way the yoke can be.

Sounds like an ideal candidate for the UK update today. (crosses fingers)

yep … despite all the annoying little glitches and bugs this crazy little thing is absolutely awesome for low slow scenic flight, I love it.

This video demonstrates exactly my point:

What does it take to stall that?

Steep turns at less than 30 knots will definitely do it. Straight and level maybe 20 knots ? never tested it.

That video was done with live weather and there was a pretty hefty wind over the cliffs. If you look at the ASI on that landing it is actually coming in with an IAS around 40 knots, just looks to be going slow.

Also anything below 40 knots has you in negative command so you do need to be careful not to box yourself in.

great job from the MSFS team

Great picture of that motor !

I like going slow.. this one can. Just bought it, and I do like the view outside.. and the sound of it, no objections.. you can tune the volume down a bit.. In real life its little motor would sit just behind your ears, you’d need a headphone..

Scale of Aerolite 103 feels a bit weird. On the runway, it looks like it has the size of a model airplane ! I landed it, which was very easy. It has no real speed.. and if you put up landing flaps it goes even slower.

Only issue I found, maybe this has to do with the type of airplane, was performing a stable curved flight and then pull it straight in one go. Difficult ! I tried curved landing, aligning late to the runway, that failed because it keeps going left and right, whatever I compensate with the aelerons. Maybe rudder should be used to compensate as well ? The safe way (logged 1 on landing) is to take some space.. and approach straight.

Did they still not update it? A pity. I wanted to buy it, but honestly almost 20,-€ for a glider with a lawnmower engine is a pretty steep price. IMHO it should at least be without glitches.

Agreed it needs an update, they are losing sales on a great looking little aircraft and the gear bug in particular probably has a lot of people wondering why they crash on landing.

It flies fine, going low and slow it will stall and drop a wing in steep turns and you need a fast dab of opposite rudder to recover but that is probably realistic.

For my use case, flying low and slow looking at scenery, the cockpit oddities are irrelevant because I never look at the gauges in this thing and the gear bug and spawn rolling are just annoyances.

If you are after a “study level” ultralight, if there is any such thing, this is not it, but for something to toss around for fun it is probably a bit pricey for what it is but does the job.

This clip I just did (messing about buzzing cows at the marketplace Brindas addon airport) is pretty typical of what I use it for:

  • Quicklook camera not fixed
  • Camera preset not fixed

Sad =(

Okay. I made small mod with little fixes.

  • Fixed QuickView camera L/R
  • Fixed ‘Switch’ Camera
  • Added instrument lights (not realistic, but now can flight in night)
  • Removed last broken LOD (red aircraft)
  • Added better thumbnail to all livery.

The instrument lights are a welcome mod.
I have many hours of fun flying in this plane and feel it has been worth the $$
