New release : Aerolite 103

Payload = 0 and Flightmodel = modern.
Then everything should work.

I’ts not the best Aircraft Settings (Landing gear etc…) , but if you edit them a little, then you can have nice flights.

I have also both addon’s.
My experience: No problem in general to fly the Aerolite at Eastfisean islands (also not with VR, Hotas, Pedals, Freeware addons etc…), or somewhere else. But The FS2020 has many(!) other causes to generate combined CTD causes (Partial from Software Programming, Partial from buggy Data at their Scenery - Servers and also partial from bad Timings and Timeouts at the Users Internet connection).

My solution this weekend against (meanwhile too much) CTD’s on my System:

  1. Erase the complete FSim including all M$/Asobo-Downloads of updates.
  2. Complete “Clean” reinstall (New Windows Install, New FS2020 Install, New Bugfix and World updates).

Now my personal CTD-rate is reduced to 1…2 CTD per Hour flying (Independing of Aircraft and actual installed Addons).
Ok for me (12 Hours ow work & downloads), because i know as Developper and Flight simmer of the “first Hours” 1984 , how hard it is to eleminate all theses Bugs and CTD-causes at a so complex Product, as the Flight Simulator is.

So maybe here not the CTD type, that you assume,
but - in combination - (maybe also with Aerolite and Eastfrisian Islands) maybe “only” reproducable caused by any “other” - further - CTD-Causes within your local System installation.

Good luck

Can you do anything to make the sound more accurate?

I have really enjoyed low, scenic flying with the Aerolite but trying to the land the thing is so difficult. It seems to become very difficult to keep straight when you start slowing to descend. I probably just need more practice.

It’s a shame the dev is completely inactive. A few glitches like starting without the parking brake must surely be an easy fix. It certainly makes the craft feel fairly poor value for money but it is nonetheless great fun for some casual sightseeing.

Yeah, look… I have owned this thing since Day 1… I brought up this issue to them on FB - the “no parking brake” on start, some switches are enabled, etc… But we only had one update since release and that was months ago. Everything else has fallen on deaf ears. As far as I am concerned, Nemeth Designs seems to be just like that Kitfox developer - throw something out to the market, then forget about it. No commitment to improving anything. The aircraft is annoying without these fixes and I never fly it as a result. I have basically shoved this one into the “abandonware” bin.

When there are glaring issues with your aircraft, you fix them. Otherwise, I don’t trust you as a developer. You then become a “quick cash grab” kind.

I bought this yesterday and really enjoy it. For me the cost is equivalent of 2 pints and a packet of crisps, but the plane is a lot more fun  Ok so there are a couple of bugs on the switches and brakes, nothing that starting cold and dark with a check list does not avoid. I see the slip ball is rubbish but most are in these sims.

But the view is awesome at slow speed

I’ve been looking online for a pilots operating handbook but nothing showed up so far. From what I can glean

Cruise 60kts
Max 70kts
Climb and descend 500ft per min
Stall 25kts

For landing I am approximately 25-35 knots

Take off seems to be around 45kts

It likes rudder to steer and turns quite quickly.

Still having fun

Flaps seem to make a difference on takeoff and landing speeds but I don’t know how much.

It will fly stupidly slow with full flaps.

Great for very short field landings, maybe 40 or 50 foot roll…

I found this rather good video about the build and at the end the manufacturer/owner says “at about 30-35mph (about 30kts) bit of back pressure and it flies right off the ground…” its about 20min and 5 sec in.

I also have xplane 11 and the Aerolite is a default aircraft but I had not tried it until using this version in msfs2020. In xplane it has much more power and much more response to the power. The handling is reasonably similar but the power makes a big difference to how much control you feel you have. As an example you need to get right in front on the power in MSFS, predict when you need it and apply it some seconds early, whereas xplane it’s kind of on tap at least in comparison.

Would love to know which is more accurate to real life or indeed if two just reflect the different engine types you can put in the Aerolite. While I find it fun drifting around in the MSFS version, if I bought one I would much prefer the xplane version.

I bought the Aero-Works Inc. Aerolite 103 for MSFS and i love it.
Unfortunalety i have some issues when landing on road… (not @ Airport).
It seems that the ground detection is not working correctly. Other planes do work.
I made a short Video to show the “diving into ground” problem.

Any solution for this Problem? I love to have emegency landing anywhere
My Sim and the Plane are up to date (103 is at 1.1.2)
thx in advance TopsiliTV

You are probably having issues with the sim thinking the landing gear is “raised” even though it is fixed and cannot actually be raised or lowered. This is a bug that has been around since the aircraft was first released.

If you spawn in the at at a POI and want to land you need to press the appropriate key to “lower” the gear otherwise the aircraft will crash and/or sink into the ground

It’s been a long time since I contacted the developer and reported this problem, if you take off from a runway or airport you can land anywhere without a runway.
If you start your flight from the sky when landing it will sink to the ground.

Lower the gear. It sounds silly but the aircraft has invisible retractable gear that needs to be lowered if you spawn in the air.

BIG THX - it´s really silly but it works!
Hope that this is soon be fixed.
Sorry for posting it (seemed to be a known bug), but i dont find this information anywhere.

Probably becasue it makes no sense at all that an ultralight would have “invisible” retractable gear. But it does and you need to remember to “lower” the non existent gear if you spawn in the air.

The aircraft has a few other minor bugs like the slip ball working backwards and the way it spawns with brakes off and rolls away on you. Nothing major just annoyances.

Unfortunately I very much doubt we will see any patches after all this time, the developer has clearly moved on and forgotten all about this aircraft. Which is a shame the visual model is great and it is fun to fly.

Agree - for me it seemed not to be so hard to fix the landinggear bug, but if the developer is moved on… I hope some bigger youtubers show this bugs too, so that the buyers think twice before spending their money to this publisher, if there are no more updates planned.
I didnt bought it, if i know before that this is still on beta^^. (sry 4 my english)

It’s not in Beta. It’s just a terrible developer that won’t stand behind their product. They should be ashamed of their lack of support for this product. Out to make a quick buck out of the community and then disappear.
