This is my view also… I have the Seminole which is a great little plane and this new Seneca just isn’t different enough to justify spending another nearly $50 AUD. Also it would be nice if it was available to purchase outside the simulator.
Maybe I will rethink purchasing it after it’s had a few updates to fix things that have already been reported with it.
Just bought this plane, my first impressions are that I like it. Didn’t expect much, because I own the Seminole, and it is unfortunately unusable for me in VR. Way too taxing on the FPS. But the Seneca, even though still more demanding on VR performance than other planes, seems to be much better optimized for VR than the Seminole. However, it seems to lack the VR focus functionality that all other planes have, making reading gauges and displays really tough in VR.
Hopefully people will make some tutorial videos for this bird!
Just tried my first serious IFR night flight in it. One question, is there any other cockpit lighting besides the tiny dome light (which seems to do nothing as far as being able to read instruments at night) and the “pilot literally holding a flashlight in his hand” mode? I was under the impression there was usually backlighting for the instruments but I haven’t been able to find it. Where is Carenado’s documentation (if any) located?
It’s hidden in the SimObjects folder inside the installation folder, which in turn is inside the OneStore folder. You’ll find that in the same location as your Community folder.
Don’t have the Seneca yet but the Carenado C182T had (and probably still has) the exact same issue. I had raised this as a defect with them several months ago and they acknowledged that they would pass this on to their dev team and mentioned something about light mapping or whatever. In any case it made night flying impossible without you turning on the flashlight every now and then.
If that bug is also valid for the Seneca, then I won’t be buying.
Behind the pilot’s yoke are three rotatable switches for the lights on the panel switches, panel lights and avionics. In addition there are dome lights on both the left and right side.
There are some screenshots further up the thread that demonstrate the cockpit lighting, of which there seems to be plenty.
Good for @ScorpionFilm422 !! So good to see a dedicated 3rd Party developer having such potential success, after all the work he initially put into the FREE GNS530
The knobs did it, thank you. I’m used to the “A” key cycling through all the hidden parts of the panel (including underneath the yoke), but I guess they missed that one.
This is curious as IIRC other 3rd party devs such as Aerosoft or Just Flight provide full documentation of their aircrafts on their website for free (e.g. CRJ and Piper Arrow III). You don’t even have to own the aircrafts to download the PDFs.
You say “THAT spot” because it is right in your line of view? Then yes, that is exactly where it is supposed to be because when the windshield is covered with ice, you will be able to see only out of THAT spot. Oh on a side note, I do miss hearing the term wicked used in general conversations now that I’ve moved south.
