New Release: Just Flight PA-28R Turbo Arrow III/IV

He’s saying he had a switch mapped to engage the starter. Unmapping it fixed the problem.

It’s common for many controllers for the driver to be designed to constantly send the switch position instead of only sending a signal when the switch is activated. The MSFS controller interface was not designed to manage this situation. The Bravo also has this issue as I understand it.

Starters are problematic in MSFS.

If the external starter switch only sends a single pulse than realistically modelled aircraft that need the starter held on until the engine fires will fail to start. Logitech switchgear has this issue and I think that may also be the Bravo problem. (Hitting the external starter multiple times a second will sometimes get a start in these situations but you risk wearing out your device switch if you do it that way too often).

If instead, the external starter switch sends a stream of pulses you get other issues such as sending the battery flat as pointed out here.

Yet it works perfectly fine with my TCA switch on the Arrow.
There clearly is a way to configure it correctly , I wonder what is causing the difference.

Maybe he had two assignments…

Has anyone experienced any bizarre behaviour lately with this? Starting off on the runway is now weird with how the GNS acts, it powers up but for some reason won’t go past the ok prompt to continue the booting process, the enter button is unresponsive. I have to go to the EFB and cycle through the avionics to get it working again only then to have the world map flight plan wiped.

Well-known behaviour which affects other airplanes as well! WT GNS 530 issue which only occurs if you start your game ‘ready for take-off’! Workaround: Start ‘cold & dark’!

Yeah thanks mate, I figured that’s what I’d need to do. Very weird this behaviour has started only recently.

hey there, guys!
Does anyone know where can I download a livery for this awesome airplane? I am looking for the livery that allows you to change the call-sign on it

Use the custom livery that comes with it. The reg number you use will be displayed.

flightsim.to has tons of liveries to download

I have only seen a single one that allows you to put a custom call-sign on it

Here is an excellent overview of the real deal:

Best was: “I do not fully understand how to use these …” at 19:23 into the clip.

Is it possible to “state save” door in opened condition? It looks like it can be done with editing “… StateSave.ini” file, but it is not that obvious which line to edit inside the file.

Aren’t you worried about evildoers stealing your radio? Or raccoons ripping up your upholstery? I keep my doors closed!

Hmmm… Does HSI need calibration during a flight? I had 2 hour flight today and I noticed a deviation on my HSI. It had like 9 degrees deviation from GPS.

If the slave switch is in auto and it’s not malfunctioning, the HSI should show the correct magnetic heading. If you set it to manual, you’ll have to move the CW/CCW (clockwise/counterclockwise) switch to align it as the magnetic variation changes.

As far as GPS, make sure you’re comparing GPS magnetic heading to the HSI and not TRK/DTK or true heading.

If you’re comparing VOR course selection to GPS DTK, there’s a longer explanation there, but it has to do with most VOR 0° radials being calibrated a long time ago and the magnetic variation changing since then.

Thanks for the reply! What is a slave switch?

You may have to disregard. I just realized this model may not have the switch. It should, to be accurate, but I don’t think it does and I’m not near my computer to check into it.

This is what it looks like on a real Arrow:

Note that it can be placed anywhere - often on the full right edge of the panel, sometimes left of the ignition switch, etc.

In the absence of that, perhaps try pressing the “D” hotkey like you can with a normal directional gyro?

The autopilot is so confusing on this airplane.

I try to make the autopilot to follow the flight plan in GPS mode but it doesn’t work.

I’ve searched for tutorials, so I found this video. On 11:05 the author activates the autopilot in NAV mode and the airplane starts to follow the gps track.

Here is my video.

I do all the same. The GPS mode, Autopilot ON, Heading ON, Autopilot mode is NAV. The airplane doesn’t react. It only reacts when I switch to Heading mode on a coupler. It starts to follow the heading bug, but nothing more than that. What am I doing wrong?
