New Release: Pilot's Boeing B314 "The Clipper" Flying Boat

I’m pleased to announce that PILOT’S B-314 - The Clipper v1.5 is now available!

For all those eagerly awaiting release on the MSFS Marketplace, this is our Marketplace release candidate, and as soon as we have a more precise idea on when it will be available there, I’ll make an announcement here.

The focus on v1.5 has been to overhaul the exterior detailing, some of the screenshots below illustrate this, and of course ready the Marketplace release.

The pitch bug on the Captain side attitude indicator has been addressed and fixed too.

Thank you again for all your valuable feedback, we hope you enjoy this very latest update, our 5th since the initial release 5 weeks ago.

An awesome plane, getting better and better. Bravo Pilot’s.

Love it so far, although a sim bug ended my first flight prematurely…

One nitpick: why are the quickview cameras set down in the anchor compartment? I’m used to having my hatswitch mapped to the quickviews that are the left and right pilot views, which isn’t the case here. I look left or right, and all I see is… wall.

I posted a “fixed” cameras.cfg above. Granted I made some changes (I’ve also linked the co-pilot to my num+ key, not sure why it doesn’t have a default binding), that change the way it works, so make sure you review it and pick and choose which changes you want.

I’m not sure why they haven’t made changes to theirs, given there’s so many glaring mistakes in it. For instance, they have two views linked to “co-pilot”. The SDK specifically says you can’t do that. (Not to mention what you noted about the “quick-views” are totally broken in their file)

In case you’re not already aware, we have now released another update, PILOT’S B-314 - The Clipper v1.55 is now available!

The PILOT’S B-314 for MSFS is now also available via Aerosoft, JustFlight and simMarket. The B-314 is now in the Marketplace cue, I’ve been pressing the Marketplace Team for a release ETA, and at present they are unable to commit to a specific timeline.

I would like to extend a big thanks to FlyingsCool5650 for the suggested overhaul of the camera views, these how now been incorporated in this latest update!

Through much trial and error we discovered that there is a bug with the Center fuel tanks. I have now recoded the fuel tank logic and replaced the two Center fuel tanks, the B-314 engines will now no longer suffer from any sudden fuel starvation due to the Center fuel tanks not feeding the engines correctly.

I have also modified the Fuel Tank Gauge logic, for some reason these had originally been coded to a percentage value instead of a gallon value and thus behaved incorrectly.

Many thanks again for all your valuable feedback, I trust you will enjoy this very latest update, our 6th since the initial release 6 weeks ago.

I leave you with some shots of the B-314 moored at the magnificent Hamilton Island.

Those new camera presets are a god send!

Side note: Hamilton Island looks like a potato for me, where’d you get the scenery??

I’m ready to buy it from the marketplace as promised. Keep pushing that queue! MSFS is going to release the Oceania World Upate and the B314 is going to feast on those airports!

Glad you like them, all credit to FlyingsCool5650 for those.

That is the new Hamilton Island scenery from a developer called AUscene.

It would be great to have the option of following a gps flight plan on autopilot, despite not featuring in the original aircraft. The Asobo Hercules H4 has such a feature.

You forgot to apply the changes to the B314A model. It still has the old flightmodel.cfg and cameras.cfg files.

For those updating the flighmodel.cfg for the B314A before the next release, make sure to also not change the LeftTip fuel capacity, like I almost did…

Ah yes, proof that I should refrain from putting together a release version at 1am with tired eyes.

Thanks for the heads-up, the ZIP has been replaced and now has the correct files for the B-314A.

Odd issue I had yesterday - don’t know if it’s a me thing or a plane thing… When I started up the engines, the fourth engine to start wast starting at minimum RPM. I was able to fix it fairly easily via the flight engineer’s station, but it was a bit odd.

Also, I may be dead in the grave before I figure out the Sperry autopliot…

@PILOTSdev Wow, are you guys going to get to take advantage of the stuff of the new local legend that’s coming? The tug in particular, and the beaching gear which it looks like Blue Mesh got working

(I’m still more of a fan of the B314, but it looks nice, too)

What new local legend? Was a new first party addon announced? I couldn’t find anything about it…

BlueMesh who also did the Hughes Hercules, Spirit of St Louis and Wright Flyer did the Latécoère 631 for the next Local Legend update. It looks amazing…well weird, but the amount of detail looks great =) I never thought we would have so many great Flying Boats in the sim!

What an interesting looking flying boat! It would be awesome if Pilot’s could use that tug, like you said.

I love that the sim has a healthy number of old big planes with radial engines now.

Right!!?!! I was SHOCKED when I saw the B314 was released. Extremely happily shocked. One of my favorite planes ever.

Just bought it as promised  In a very strange turn of events I’m going to read the manual first and fly it later.
Thanks for the quick release!
