A shame this never panned out as we hoped - I’ll definitely not be buying a Pilots product based on what has happened here. Totally done with devs who makes sales with promises which go entirely unfulfilled.
They claim they were frustrated with development of MSFS flight model, systems, visuals and water physics… well isnt that your job? Like a pharmacist getting frustrated with dispensing and then not making up prescriptions. If you cut your losses on the water physics (which is an MSFS problem, almost all devs would agree), at least make the rest of it not-rubbish?
Apologies for the rant but it is a shame to see a promising product never get fleshed out and paying customers left with a buggy, unfinished product (as they roll out more products to sell). I’d say I purchase maybe 90% less of the addons I used to in the past, thanks to the ‘pay us now and we’ll make it good, we promise!’ mentality that is becoming more and more prolific. I am convinced a large chunk of devs will start coming up short on sales as this method continues to be used over the years.
It definitely makes me appreciate the devs who really do give it their all and have passion for their creations.
In the years since FS20 released I think it is now crystal clear which devs are enthusiastic, push boundaries and continually support and even improve their products and which devs only very rarely or even never provide support for their addons after they are launched.
I honestly don’t think it’s that difficult to spot the ones to avoid and the ones to trust for a day one or very early purchase.
The best devs may not get it entirely right at launch but you do know that they will continually work at the project (and keep it updated) until it meets or even exceeds their customers’ expectations.
Thankyou for your work on this. It is a disgrace that independent parties such as you have to do what the developers should have done a long time ago. I remember the initial release being accompanied by much fanfare, followed by two quick updates. Then…nothing. All sizzle, no steak.
Nice, thanks for taking this on! It already held altitude ok… Usually… With a true heading hold now, long DR / celestial flights are a lot more doable!
Pilots has a selection of seaports included with the aircraft that have “parking” spots you can select to start C&D from.
If you bought it from outside the Marketplace, I believe the seaports are in the aircraft’s directory and need to be moved directly to the Community folder. If you bought it from the Marketplace, you need to download them separately from Pilots website.
Airspeed indicator seems to reading in mph but should be knots. This seems like an easy fix.
The only way to set the altimeter is with the B key. Adding a (generic) altimeter with an adjustment knob also seems like an easy fix.
In the 314a, the left hand (Captain’s) compass works while the right hand (First Officer’s) doesn’t. Again seemingly easy fix. I mean… the left one works. Why doesn’t the right one work?!
The fuel flow guages at the FE station pretty quickly peg out at 100 gph. The manual references 30-70 lbs/hour normal cruising fuel flow so somethin aint right! Seems like the numbers in the manual might be a good baseline but the measurement should be gallons per hour and not lbs per hour. Watched a video of the P3D version which was registering about 65 gph in cruise (which would jive with what the manual states if the manual’s units were gph and not lbs/h.)
Ideally a dev would fix these very basic details (I recall reading something about striving to be “study level” on the store page!) Maybe the community could make a mod. These 4 items seem extremely easy to fix for anyone who knows the basics of modding/developing in MSFS (but what do I know? Not much or I’d try to fix them myself!)
I don’t meant to be negative, but I wouldn’t get your hopes up. This addon received a few quick patches right after release, and that’s it. Soon after the last patch, they announced their partnership with SWS to make the Dash 7.
The developer moved on, despite the fact that this was supposedly a passion project that would receive enough support that it would become as study-level as an addon based on a nonexistent plane can be.
At this point, the addon’s only hope is that someone dedicated comes along and makes an overhaul improvement mod. Even then, I wouldn’t recommend buying a $35 addon that requires a community mod to work right.
I totally agree. I’m definitely late to the party and I find it amusing seeing all the drama from posts soon after release. Really unbelievable responses from the devs. I guess I consider my 4 points as the most basic fixes that any developer should have been paying attention to prior to release or at least the subsequent patches.
