Hello, I’m the new guy on the block (or runway, as the case may be). I came over from X-Plane to see how MSFS 2020 works.
-I’m using a new Windows 11 Game PC with plenty of power, three 27" mon. and Honeycomb Alpha, Bravo controls, and Logitech rudder pedals.
-Had some flight training out of Maryland Airport (2W5), but no PPL.
-I’m new to flight forums (X-Plane & MSFS), but an oldtimer on fishing forums.
-I have loved flight from childhood, did the rubberband balsa wood models, U-Control, & RC.
-Hung around College Park Airport, (CGS) Md. as a kid in the early 60’s, doing whatever I could to earn a flight. There’s a lot of aviation history there.
-Was a cadet member of the Civil Air Patrol.
-Anyway, now I’m flying a Sim and enjoying it.

Question: (please move this to wherever appropriate)
While doing the Flight Training Tutorials, or just free flying, with the 152, I can’t get the Bravo trim wheel to move the 152’s trim wheel correctly. The 152 wheel action doesn’t match the Bravo wheel, the 152s moves very very slowly compared to the Bravo; all of the bindings (Trim-Up/ Trim-Down) are set correctly to the button numbers. I’ve resorted to using buttons on the Alpha yoke but don’t like the work-around. I’m not into using the keyboard and mouse while flying, it’s too distracting.
Any suggestions?

5 posts were split to a new topic: Stuck with the first lesson when it says ‘save a custom view using ‘LB + C’’

Michael from Oklahoma here. A simmer of many years. Did some private training but became too expensive for a financially strapped single father. Anyhow my experience in the US Navy as an Operations Specialist gave me the rudimentary and very specific knowledge of ATC process, navigation, in all it’s elements, etc…
I am a study level intellect as a very fun and loose personality type. Very little is above my understanding or capability and even less is below my standards of behavior at times. All in the focus of fun never in the realm of disrespect or dis-courteousness. This is how I have approached flight sim. over the years. I quit as a fleet manager with a well known VA in 2014 to write and perform music. That did well for a season and now I’m back. Just put together a $5,000 system and although Ultra was recommended I get 30fps in the most taxing weather and scenery. So I just laugh that one off because after all that’s what M.S.F.S. has always been. I’ll make a few minor adjustments. I would certainly invite suggestions as I search through the forum knowledge base. I love where the community has gone so far in all it’s varying factions. Indeed there is a place for everyone in this community and isn’t that as well what flight sim has ultimately been about. Alright well I look forward to seeing what all we have on here and if I can be of any help to others, I will certainly try. Tootles

Hi @Psycho1227, and welcome to the forums and MSFS!

I’m also a musician and a Flight Simulator enthousiast.

30 fps seems a bit low for a 5000 dollar system, maybe you put the render scale slider to 200?

Anyways, welcome aboard

Hey buddy, right on, I’ll give it a shot. Yeah 5 grand is a bit indeed and it does seem I should get more out of this. Maybe paid too much for the items…lol… Thats a possibility with my I want it and click menatlity…lol
Right on, about music. Do you read, write, etc? What do you do with it currently?

also basically I have a 11th gen i9 cpu, 3080 ti and rog strix mobo. 32 mb ram everything rgb’d out of course honey comb everywhere and logitech pedals. So not sure maybe I need to tweek instead of just max everything and leave it. My GPU is tasked 97 percent at 70 degrees C. CPU seems to do really well. So i may need to move up a notch on my GPU. Get the next gen. It’s a good start but not done thats for sure. Appreciate any and all suggestions.

Welcome Psycho to msfs. Former student pilot. Started using sims since fs95. Currently using XBox s. My Hanger consists of a320 Airbus,
Honda HJet, XCub, F-18 Hornet.

Hey buddy. Right on thanks. Yep any one of those aircraft would be awesome in real life. However that nimble and quick little Honda Jet i bet would be an absolute blast. Very cool. Well when i get my chops back offline ill get online. Trying to find my old CID for vatsim. None of the info i had at the time exists any longer and so im working with Vatsim to see how else we could securely verify and regain my old CID. Lots has changed in the flight dynamics from 2014 so practice is the word right now. Thanks again for the welcome.

Cool! I’m on XBox.

Hello, I fairly new to MSFS 2020 and use a PC with Thrustmaster Joystick, Throttle and Rudder Pedals. I have used x-Plane 11 fairly extensively. I am a private pilot and use the sim for training and staying current when not at the airport. I decided to start MSFS 2020 by going through the Flight Training just to get comfortable with the planes and control settings to get comfortable that the planes and controls would adequately manage the plane with maneuvers, take offs and landings and navigation. I did run into a bug in Flight Training VFR Navigation Landing which is at the end of a VFR flight to Flagstaff. I tried to land and the instructor kept saying “sorry you are too low, let’s try again”. I was not too low and the PAPI was showing all white light, indicating too high, but I played along and after 3 or 4 attempts, I started final and maintained altitude until I got over the threshold and then started to reduce altitude and the instructor again said “too low, lets start over”, so I could not finish this module due to Instructor bug. In the previous modules, I landed with no problems so it is in this VFR Navigation Landing module that there is a bug. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks and glad to be trying out MSFS 2020.

Sounds to me like there is a bug also.

Forgot to mention I was flying the C152 that is default in Flight Training. Obviously, it would be an improvement if the “virtual instructor” would allow you to try to land and see the results and then provide comments for improvement in necessary. Also, it would help if there were more helpful responses that aided learning, but I know there are limitations here, so best improvement is to let the pilot fly the plane and finish and then add comments. Would like to finish this module so I can finish all the training and get that done. thanks for any comments.

Thanks Rich. Nice to meet you.
