Imagine you want to put yourself on 2 wheels for the first time to learn, what would you ride first? without previous experience:
Probably because its pretty much the standard trainer plane.
I had two lessons back in 1995 as a gift, it was a 152, Iām now using FS2020 in the 152 and flying circuits around the same airfield
Its a sturdy plane with high-wing which helps visibility for learners and has good stall characteristics, the instrument are basic so less to distract the eye as well.
i was flying it yesterday and went i took off - it was getting the proper height and it kept going up and down and crashing - as i have no trouble with the cj4 - i guess having bad day with that eh?
omg that been great gift flying lessons and using fs2020.
Iām really bad at landing, still trying to learn proper ways to land or what buttons i need to press for smooth landing
did you do the tutorial flights?
they all handle that form basic standpoint.
Landing is pretty much the hardest part, iām only just getting it now, 3 weeks inā¦

wow man such nice smooth flight - and landing - my flying is still shakey and the plane always drifts apart from the purple line
what plane are you flying - i use the cj4
i havent fully done all the tutorials - just the basic so far how to fly/take off/the gears but still need to work on landing
Its the Cessna 152, the only one iāve used so far.
I gave up on the lessons pretty much, i followed along until the first solo flight, but there are so many failings in those lessons, I found it better to watch videos and just practice.
To do landings only, choose your airport as the destination only, no departure, it will spawn you in, mid flight facing the approach/final.
Make sure to set/check the NavLog first for altitude etc. As soon as you spawn in and press āFlyā hit active pause, then wiggle all the controls - throttle to almost max, probably flaps 20, move the trim etc the un-active-pause.
If not done the sim does not know where the controls really are and as soon as you fly it literally goes mad when a control like trim is touched
How were you able to post this topic? I just joined a bit ago and cannot find any button to click to add my own post! All l can do is browse the threads, and replyā¦
i will try the settings as you mentioned
i forgot what i did - i think i just followed/and liked different posts then posted introduce yourself then found new to pilot - game me option to new topic and posted -
i would suggest those tips and make your own topic for your help/questions - the people on here very very helpful friendly
Thanks dude. I guess thatās all l can doā¦lām not sure if lām missing it, but l swear lāve clicked on every menu and optionā¦
Wish theyād just have a simple button thatās obvious.
I think starting in a GA airplane is the way to go when first starting, as has been suggested in other posts. The c152 is great to practice with and get the hang of the basics before moving to faster planes where decisions come more quickly.
I also am on Xbox and use the thrustmaster hotas one with a wireless mouse and that setup works great for me. I would add one other thing for practicing landings, not sure what view you use but I would use the cockpit view when landing and not external view, some use external but I personally found it harder to judge when landing. Welcome to Xbox simming! Enjoyā¦
i used the 152 - only issue is that when taking off its not smooth for me and it keeps drifting down and crashes after take off - or maybe not enough climb ?
how do you like thrustmaster hotas?
when i land i use the external view - as my plane keeps bopping up and down hard to see runaway so i go external view
The 152, isnāt a jet, so be more conservative when performing your initial climb. Start with a real safe 500 ft/min.
After you take off, youāre going to want to build up airspeed. Since you have the flaps set for takeoff, you want to raise those to reduce drag as you gain airspeed and altitude after youāre airborne.
The flaps are extended a bit for takeoff to increase the surface area of the wing to provide more lift for takeoff. The trade off, however, is increased drag, which is why they need to be raised shortly after take off as airspeed builds.
Airspeed is flying. No airspeed is falling.
The reality of flying a simulator is it really does require you to learn and/or have some basic understanding of aviation and how to fly.
I like the Thrustmaster quite a bit, I havenāt had any issues and for price I feel it is perfect for use with the Xbox.
I completely agree with you. It works great and I still prefer it to the yoke for flightstick-based aircraft.
wow really is that better then yoke? - i think people on amazon either making stuff about like i read 4 bad reviews about dont buy/cheap quality etc about the thurstmaster for xbox
Well, a yoke is significant enough in its feel and distinct separation of X &Y axises to that of a flightstick.
When flying a plane like a trainer jet or military aircraft, the flightstick feels far more natural to me. Especially given my background in military sims.
As far as quality. Reviews on any website are highly subjective. Of course, there are people who think it isnāt well made and there are those who think it is.
For what it cost, and given it is designed for spacecraft flight as well as flight sims, Iām ok with its design.
I wouldnāt come here and give it praise if I didnāt think it worthy. Iāve been pretty critical of the TFRP pedals Thrustmaster makes, for example.
I trust your recommendation wasnāt doubting you - was just saying what people were saying on amazon. Do i really need both (pedals also) or thrustmaster
As i fly regular planes like cj4 and 152 - so still good for it right?
The yoke looks really good about out if my budget - as iām an xbox gamer
