New to pilot to flight simulator xbox series s

The increase in realism with adding pedals is small so if cost is a factor, hold off, its nice but not essential. For me the difference between the stick and a yoke for the Cessna was big so i justified it dont forget that with something like the VF1 yoke, you get the throttle quadrant and you use the throttle a lot in a cessna

For takeoffs, keep it simple, always full throttle, the Cessna is rated for no-flaps take off, this will naturally mean a little more time on the runway before you can rotate but thats no big thing most cases. When you hit the magical 55-60KIAS, pull back very gently and it will lift, then aim to get your speed to 70KIAS max, no more, that will then set your climb to the best possible rate in the Cessna.

Once you have some altitude, like 200’ maybe, you need to trim for the climb, then you can almost let go of the stick/yoke - just use it to keep on course.

Turn the wind layer off at the beginning too, it just complicates things a little. Once you get your height, level off, reduce throttle to maybe 2200-2300rpm for max speed cruise, level off and trim again. In this condition the plane is almost on autopilot at least for altitude.

If you are bobbing up/down on takeoff that would likely mean pulling back too much, then it will stall a bit, so you push forward, then it will dive so you pull back and so on.

Make sure your sensitivity settings are not at default - mine are about -70% for pitch, roll and rudder as the Cessna is a light and twitchy plane.

thank your your advice - i was thinking of only the thrustmaster for now or my birthday next month (march) and use the controller. As when i use the cessena 152 i get mixed up with it says push throttle - i tend to push it forward instead of back and i go crashing down lol

those are some good tips - i been reading and need to get back to it tomorrow = as i was studing the basic controls of plane the different gauges and what they do ,

i have changed my pitch settings followed a guide

okay to buy used thurstmaster hotas x? or new be alot better - as almost $20 - $50 price difference

For me and a $20 difference, i would buy new, a $50 difference could change my mind but bear in mind that these things can take a thrashing in some cases so the condition is important - buyer beware

Wouldn’t it be great if Rod Machado made a flight school for MSFS like he did for FSX? Here is a thread that talks about it.

Upvote this thread if this is something you would be interested in!

Here’s my Joystick pick for XBOX.

Get a wired mouse and keyboard it helps. Then get a Yoke. Honeycomb is coming out with xbox version soon.

I have been using the Thrustmaster T.flight HOTAS One for several months…and love it! It is paired with my Xbox S.

Agree with this, a stick/yoke will make a world of difference in your immersion and enjoyment. I have the T Flight Hotas. There is a fix to the loose throttle someone mentioned and I’ll post that.

Hello Sugar.
I’m new to MSFS. I’ve flown other Sims. Mainly Combat. Switched from PC to XBox s. I’ve got a Saitek X52 Hoyas. Not able to set it up in the Sim. Any suggestions?

Is that an Xbox compatible peripheral? I’ve not heard that it is.
