Can you help? I logged in for the first time in over a year, and I don’t see any button for starting a new topic. I only see this one link to reply. I logged in my MS account just fine. So I don’t get it.

Hi @PatrickBatty,

Welcome to the forums and to the flight sim community! I’m curious, are you flying with the PS5 controller or are you using a Thrustmaster HOTAS 4?

It can certainly be challenging as a new simmer and gamer, but there are so many helpful users here, so I hope you won’t be shy with your questions.

Cheers,

Jayne

Hi Jayne. Thanks for the welcome.
I’m just using the PS5 controller.
Because the playstation is connected to a tv, I don’t have a desk in the room, and would have to just have the Thrustmaster on my lap.
Does the Thrustmaster make things easier?

I don’t know if it would be easier if you had to set it in your lap, but it would add some greater immersion to flying GA for sure, as well as the rudder pedals, if you were able to get it set up! Happy flying.

Maybe put a book on your lap, the Thrustmaster on top of the book …. that would work.

Hello world! I new here and don’t understand how to create a posts here. Can someone help please ?

Hi, you can call me: whereswally86

I’m playing Microsoft Flight Simulator on: Xbox

I started flight simming because: iv always liked the look of MFS and really wanted to have a good.

In MSFS, I’m most excited to learn about: learning from the beginning and getting used to using more technical controls.

Will be investing investing in a joystick and throttle (budget one) to start with an moving on from there.

Any suggestions on threads for beginner’s to get help with hardware please let me know.

Thanks

Welcome aboard! There are lots of threads on hardware already, so why not start searching these to see what other suggestions folks got, and what they bought and why? Happy holidays and good flying!

My name is Marius and I live in Rome, Italy. I’ve been using Flight Simulator since version 98 and would like to take the plunge by buying a new PC for Flight Simulator 2024. I am looking for updated information on the hardware requirements for my new PC (the tables I see are stuck at 2024 and Windows 10…). Where can I find them? I would also like to write in the forum to ask for help from more experienced users but I can’t find tread for novices where I can write. Can anyone help me? Thank you

I can’t seem to figure out how to make a topic. As of today (new problem) I went to fly in msfs2020 and I and load a flight but all I can do is sit on the runway (can’t look around the cockpit control the plane or anything) I can’t even pause. In order to get out of the flight plan I have to use the home button and exit that way. Btw using Xbox.

Hi @marius1956 and @tuffy94 and welcome to the forums! :slightly_smiling_face:

@marius1956:
No new official hardware specs for MSFS 2024 have been published since the release of this version.
The best place to get information about hardware for a new PC is to look in the User Support Hub > Hardware & Peripherals category. For example, have a look at these search results:

Search results for 'New PC"

“I can’t seem to figure out how to make a topic.” - This probably was because you were at Trust Level 0 at the time. I’ve checked & you are now at Trust Level 1 and also see you have created a new topic in the User Support Hub, so hopefully will get some replies to your issue soon.

Hello Simmers, you can call me Rick.

I’m playing MSFS 2024 on a simming PC (i9, NVIDIA 3090, VR headset, PFT Puma X helo control, which is a great stick & rudder for GA).

I started flight simming after doing a lot of iRacing & Asseto Corso auto racing. I did a lot of IRL racing with SCCA, but since retiring haven’t the $$$ or interest anymore. I switched to MSFS 2024 just after SU3 and I’m really amazed at the realism.

I put in about 110 flight hours in Free Flight, just getting to know the Sim and all the planes, before trying Career mode (now about 30 hrs there, level 135). The realism got me searching online, where I discovered VFRSectional maps, and learned about getting around the local Class Bravo airspace, local MOAs and how to use VOR-DME and IFL landings. I’m amazed that all Sim freqs are the same IRL. My favorite is the Piper Dakoka that came with the Sim, a close 2nd the Bonanza. The sim inspired me to go to a local fight school and book and “Introductory Flight” in a 172, so I simmed many hours in that prior to the lesson. I found the realism just amazing.

I’ve got a Cargo Company, with three 172s and a 208B, and I’m close to buying the PC-12. Any advice there would be very appreciated, as well as where to find plenty of profitable missions.

I’ve spent many hours on this forum seeking tips, but recently decided to join.

Thanks in advance for any and all tips & advice. You seem like a great crowd!

Hello, I am new here. My nickname is Cpu8088 because I’m rather old. Actually I should have called myself as Cpu6510 if you know what I mean as I’m playing MSFS since the C64 days… Now I’m on a PS5 which is much cheaper than custom build PCs. Unfortunately with dual sense controller it’s much more difficult than I thought but I’m improving and waiting for available devices. Bugs or missing features are there but those don’t prevent from the pure pleasure of flying for fun.

Hi everyone, I’m Andy.

Been looking forward to MSFS24 arriving on Playstation. It’s a couple of decades at least since my last flight sim (also MS) and my earliest experiences were on an Amiga…! In other words I don’t know much at all and I’m loving it so far.

Have been sorting out my setup to improve my network connection. Picked up a new headset and repurposed a keyboard and mouse too. Enjoying working things out.

I now have a daily local flight before and after work, and I discover something new each trip. Taking it slowly. I now realise that my playstation setup isn’t enough to fly with Vatsim but I’ve started on their ATC track. In the meantime I’m loving the learning and flying and gaining confidence.

Glad to be on the forum and looking forward to taking part.

A very warm welcome to those of you joining the MSFS community to kick off 2026!
