Ah ok i did not know that, the retailer varjo’s website directed me to was “digital river”. I will do some googling to find other retailers and try them, thanks.
Did some looking around, i just ordered one from systemactive in the uk
12-16 week wait
Welcome aboard!
Yup, I’m on the same…um…flight. That’s gonna be a loooong wait and I’m trying to keep hopes low in terms of actual delivery time…
…and when we finally got it, we realize that we based our decision on a handful of Youtubers’ reviews who totally overhyped the headset and that in reality, it just does not deliver
By the way…I just had the chance to try the Pimax 8KX and while the large FOV did indeed give me a significantly greater sense of immersion than the G2, the low effective resolution and lack of clarity are definitely dealbreakers for me. This is even with supersampling cranked up to where the 3090 delivers a flip-book experience. Plus, I find the wearing comfort horrible. But that’s just my 2ct.
Comment from a person who hasn’t tried MSFS in VR perhaps? Or worst, hasn’t tried VR period?
So you are saying folks who do 8-hour flights across the Atlantic on Desktop are ok! …
VR is immersive and tbh is suited to the shorter VFR experiences, you certainly don’t need to be in a headset for hours on end to enjoy a virtual flight.
I have an 8kx (and a quest 2) and i like it, the fov is really nice. But i think clarity is more important and I agree its clarity is not quite G2 (previously owned 1) standard but for me its still decent enough. I expect the Aero will be significantly better (35ppd vs 21 for 8kx vs 24 for G2). Lets hope it wasn’t all just hype from over enthusiastic youtubers lol.
I’ll be keeping the 8kx to trade in for the 12k, whenever that comes out (supposedly Q4 2022), which i doubt will be on time.
That’s a really good explanation thanks. I didn’t realise that was the specific benefit of an aspherical lease.
I’ve just been coming to terms with the upscaling that is done by default for G1, I’ve just upgraded my rig to some top shelf gear and I’m trying all sorts of things to get it working well on P3D 5.3 with much difficulty despite previously having it working reasonably well on my old rig.
It’s pretty good on both MSFS and DCS though.
I’m a Reverb G2 user and I placed an order last month for the Aero. Does anyone have any idea when I may expect it? I’m located in Canada for what it’s worth.
edit I should have mentioned that my confirmation email said 3-4 months but I was curious if anyone has any insight into how accurate this is?
No one really knows yet. When the pre-orders first opened up they were stating “around the end of the year”.
I contacted them this week, asking about the status of my order Oct 27th, and they replied “We will start Aero headset order shipments in the beginning of 2022”.
So that’s good news if it’s literally the beginning. But there may be a lag for later orders, who knows?
I think there will be a lag, i ordered just a few days ago and was told 12-16 weeks which is march or april
Thanks for the replies guys. I’m very excited about receiving the Aero, hopefully it will arrive before spring/late spring.
I find my Reverb G2 is adequate for il2’s old ww2 era instruments but when it comes to DCS and MSFS, I find it can be difficult to read the digital screens. I’m hoping the Aero solves this.
I’m using both DCS and MSFS and legibility of screens is something where in my opinion the G2 does stand out by quite a bit in a positive way. Means - I don’t have any issues with that whatsoever and when compared to the Pimax 8KX it’s pretty much an instinct wanting to switch back to the G2.
So that begs the question: is there something wrong with your G2? Have you (had to) set render resolution too low? Have your G2’s lenses become fogged or dirty for example from contact with your eyelashes? Or do you need glasses?
Even at high resolutions the smaller text on central and distant EFDs is unreadable on the G2.
I think it will, going by youtuber comments and reviews.
Try the F18c in DCS for example. Can you read the map on the mpcd?
I understand the G2 is leagues ahead of many of the current headsets for clarity but there are still many digital screens that one can’t read everything without zooming in.
Hello guys, does someone knows if there is an additional piece of hardware needed to run the Varjo Aero? i had heard of a tracking box but i am not fully sure. Thanks for any feedback.
I’m pretty sure it’s outside in tracking so you’ll need base stations
