News for SU15

At 2019-2020 timeframe, 16gb was considered adequate, and that’s reflected in what PS5 did with memory as well, they also use 16gb, heck, ps5 pro is rumoured to be using 16gb. So it’s not really penny pinching, it’s what’s considered adequate during hardware development stage.

May be MS did a bit of penny pinching with Series S as in it should have more memory for sure.

What this statement ignores is that MSFS is not your run in the mill game which are made for console from ground up, it’s a PC title, period, which was scaled down to run on console, and for what it’s worth, it did run beautifully so when you don’t consider the plethora of complicated addons. Other AAA games do just fine with the memory it and PS5 has.

Going forward, i hope these memory issues will be less pronounced, since whatever rewrites they did on the engine side, they must have considered Series X as a target platform.

Regarding the delay of this release, it’s better delayed than broken. For example they did a wonderful fix in yesterday’s build which resolved a key DX12 rendering issue on PC. I am sure they are trying to squeeze in as many fixes and enhancements as reasonably possible, considering this is going to the last SU for a while at least.

What’s the problem?. At the moment everybody can fly and enjoy the game. IT IS running. And it’s running well and stable and smooth on Xbox Series X. I don’t need SU15 in order to enjoy the game. If it would come in one month..i don’t care. Dear Developers use your time and don’t rush SU15. Lol. …

What people on Xbox were getting frustrated with mainly, was getting black screens at third party airports, especially on approach. This would normally be followed by a CTD!

I’m encouraged by the fact that they’re taking their time. It tells me they’re determined to get it right.

The developer of Black Square already thinks about/works on a way to release the Dukes without SU15. If he manages to find a way Asobo can do whatever they want with this unfortunate update.

Does anyone knows how can i join BETA?. I use xbox.

Download the insiders hub app on the xbox. Then go into that and into previews. Find msfs, select beta 15 and press join. Once it’s done it’s thing, restart the xbox and you’re on. It will do a big update on first load - worth restarting again after that and clear rolling cache. Needs 8Gb rolling cache to avoid stutters

remember the hoo-ha of the first japan update? …the graphical and performance rollercoater upgrade/downgrade with each subsequent update? the vapourware promised “full DX12 support”? if you’ve been here since day 1 of MSFS2020 release… you’ll know that “delays” are par for the course. i’ve since learnt to ignore all their hype and temper expectations - they’ll release it when they feel like releasing it - or not.

■■■■. su15 is still broken. when are they going to fix it? I cant wait! I will buy msfs 2024! -another way of seeing it

It certainly is unfortunate, I completely agree and understand. Especially for users who may not be affected by the issues holding back SU15 - it makes sense why delay after delay can seem endless at times. We all want the same thing - a stable game/simulator to play whether you’re ATP licensed or have your first landing on MSFS. A quality product is far more valuable than a hastily made draft. If SU15 is really the last update for 2024 in MSFS, I hope that stability, reliability, and universal access are among the top priorities as the last thing we want is to get stuck with an unplayable version of the sim. So to the developers who worked so hard to even give us a game to complain about - I thank you for making sure that what we are getting is what we are all eagerly awaiting for. In the meantime, I am going to enjoy the very simulator that we all cherish so deeply and fly the same way I would when I was just as excited for SU14 to release! Happy flying everyone.

Broken how?

Yeah some of the comments have been unbelievable. Such entitlement. Mainly, dare I say, from those on pc who must never be kept waiting. And I guarantee they’ll be the first ones to start moaning and ■■■■■■■■ about the release and how it’s not up to their standards.

XBox doesn’t necessarily need double the memory. It’s needs to split the shared RAM usage between the GPU and CPU. It’s a powerful platform, but as games like MSFS will become the norm, it will drastically help to stabilize the system. A few other games have had similar CTD problems and the consensus is that the combined RAM usage is what’s usually causes these issues.

I’d gladly take more memory too though since it guarantees a more powerful console.

I am on PC, but I am never in a rush for an update.
Experience thought me a rushed job is never fast because it needs improvements later.
So, take all the time you need! Especially with the many improvements you are doing.
I would rather you polish SU15 and wait a good 2 weeks after most bugs/problems have nearly completely disappeared before releasing SU15.
I appreciate the courage you have to rewrite memory allocation: this is a courageous path to improvements, rather than small, quick fixes.
Thank you.
In the end, Slow is fast.

I agree. For me it is just a blackscreen by now :frowning:

What does the community really want,

(1) Asobo to release the current beta version of SU15, forcing everyone to update to a version that has known issues with WASM, and other issues.

(2) Asobo to continue on working on fixing these know issues, before releasing SU15, no matter how long it takes (and Costs them), AS RELEASING A KNOW BROKEN VERSION WILL KILL MSFS FOR SO MANY ?

I really do not understand why so many seem to want an update , with such URGENCY, that is known not to work correctly.

A little to must entitlement and “I DON’T CARE HOW, I WANT IT NOW” ?

For some it will be SU15 leading to the Dukes being released, though I have read they might be releasing them for SU14 now. Personally I wish they would wait.

One of the cold, hard facts about communities such as this is how they mirror real world crowd behavior.

Many different voices, some louder than others.
Some patient, some impatient.
Some complain about everything, some are grateful for what they have.

And of course there are many (in fact most) in between.
Life is ruled by the bell curve.

It not just WASM, its also other things in SU15 Beta that are not working, or have had to be disabled because they do not work, or worse, cause major issues, and there is no time to fix them,

ie Ground handling
