Certain aircraft such as the C172 and others have no avionics screens and no way to turn them on. Other aircraft such as the TBM and even the A320 have everything working correctly. I understand from reading other posts that it was due to a patch released around Sept. 2020. Is there any way to re-install a patch or see if it was ever applied? Does Microsoft check? As all I want to do is fly with a cockpit I can control or even see I’m wondering if there is simple solution or any solution. I’m tired of tweaking
Thanks
Are you using the Working Title G1000 mod? If so, is it updated to the latest version?
I interpret “tweaking” to include keeping mods updated, so probably not. But his statement about the C172 having “no avionics screens and no way to turn them on” has me really confused – pretty much my normal state of mind on the forum these days. ![]()
I don’t know what he means by tweaking either.
In any case, the unlit / black G1000 avionics was an issue that popped up after an update in the fall and was affecting users of the WT mod. They quickly released a fix for it a couple of hours after the patch dropped and to the best of my knowledge (I could be wrong here) it hasn’t been an issue since.
I think you’re right, and if I remember correctly, wasn’t it a bug with the default A320, too. Something like the brightness was turned all the way down by default. The first mods fixed it, but then they had to un-fix it when Asobo corrected their issue.
I don’t fly airliners so never experienced that personally, but I remember reports a while back of there being an issue with black screens on airliners. Both the A320 and 787 were affected if I’m not mistaken. Not sure about the 747.
But OP says that the A320 and TBM screens work fine. Based on his post and that info, I suspect he hasn’t used the sim in some time, still has the old version of the G1000 mod installed, and is seeing the issue now.
Although unless he actually comes back and replies to this thread, we’ll never know.
I have installed all of the patches and updates. I’m not sure where to look to see whether I have an up to date version of the G1000 as I do not remember installing any mods. As to tweaking, maybe only oldtimers know the meaning.
I’ve been ‘flying’ since the eighties and believe me I’ve spent a lot of time tweaking.
Look in your Community folder. That’s where the mod would be if you have it. If you see a folder called workingtitle-g1000, delete it and see if that helps
When I install updates to the WT Garmins and the performance mods for planes like the XCub and Diamonds, I rename the folders to include the current version #. That way, I can easily see if I’m up to date when I check the file sources for newer versions.
There was an update sometime in December. Some users, including myself, found after that update that the G1000 on some aircraft wouldn’t work at all and some (the DA62 for instance) it would work, but not correctly. I believe the problem was caused by the sim thinking that the update was completely installed when in fact it wasn’t. There is no way to make the Sim re-download the update because it thinks you are up to date. I ended up going through a very tortuous complete ununstall/reinstall procedure (Aerosoft Disc edition which may be harder than if you have a Store or Steam Edition). Another clue to this issue was that the “Market Place” tab was greyed out. Check out this link, this is where I first read about the issue
The update I am referring to in the above post was to 1.12.13.0
What are the contents of your Community folder?
We all know the meaning. We’re just curious about what you mean with tweaking in this context. If you state you’re tweaking, it implies you’re installing mods, etc. Since blank screens were an issue of the G1000 mod from working title, the source of your problem might very well being an out-of-date mod instead of a problem with the game itself.
All solved, removal of old G1000 and addition of new zip worked perfectly. So yes that is a mod and yes I was tweaking. In the old FSX and somewhat in P3Dv4 I spent more time computing than flying.
Thanks for the solution
