Not enough default small airliners

We don’t have enough default smaller airliners

  1. The large aircraft category is incredible with the Boeing 787 10, Boeing 747 800, and the upcoming a310 and the only aircraft brining up the default small category is the a320 neo

  2. did any notice that we just get Boeing and Airbus for default airliners and nothing default from other awesome manufacturers like Fairchild, dornier, BAE, and Embraer

Microsoft needs licensing agreements with the manufacturer’s, I can imagine this being a rather time and cost consuming work. By having agreements in place with Airbus and Boeing they cover the largest manufacturers.

Third-party developers typically fill in the gaps for other manufacturers and for more in-depth renditions of Airbus and Boeing planes.

when you fly to the smaller airports it just feels dead with just a a320 neo or nothing there at all just try flying to Block island airport and look for any ai traffic

you can download the FSLTL Life Traffic and Livery infusion tools. As far as I know it is adding tons of extra custom generated traffic models…that should make the small regional airports look much more populated. You can download that for free through the Flybywire downloader.

Add a traffic app like FSLTL

Well, the only manufacturer not dead in that list is Embraer. For BAe there is the 146 from Just Flight available, just like there is the Aerosoft CRJ series and the Twin Otter.

Upcoming is the ATRs, one from Milviz and one from Asobo/Hans Hartmann.

So I don’t get your point? Do you want everything for free on top on what already is there? I’m against that as we have enough pretty basic aircraft.

There are small regional aircraft available for you to fly. Other than that there is AIG for ai traffic available as being the most complete set and a upcoming payware ai solution from Just Flight.

Not everything has to be current  , there are some aircraft that would help smaller airports have ai aircraft like if they did a default Embraer Emb 120 and a DO328 jetliner and that’s just enough to bring life at smaller regional airports and island airports that are just dominated by the default Cessna Caravan on the tarmac and nothing in the sky plus I don’t want to have to pay for everything

Also, Synaptic Simulations is working on the Airbus A220. There is a section for it in the Flybywire downloader. Even so I don’t have any idea when that will arrive. That would be a nice regional plane…

The FSLTL is completely free…

You should buy the 737-600.
It´s so cute, but already used to humans so you can try bottle-feed it Kerosene without shoo-shooing it away:

Like the md80 I didn’t have the right payment method for those aircraft so I couldn’t buy it so I have to wait longer for it as a result unfortunately, however the 600 looks cool

Are you playing on XBOX?

Because there are FSLTL and AIG out there to really fill the airports with jet traffic.

Here is what we have right now:

  1. Large Airliners:
Salty 747-8i, not exactly proper, but doable for a full flight
    HD787XH 787-10, same here
    HWA339 A330-900, better, but borrows FBW’s A320NX systems - still not proper
the upcoming iniBuilds A310, the first “proper” widebody airliner for MSFS

  2. Small-medium Airliners:
    FBW A32NX - A320NEO of CFM LEAP-1A variants only
Fenix A320-200 - A320 of CFM-56-5A without sharklet variants only - very proper, very complete
    PMDG 737-600
PMDG 737-700, including the cargo and private jet versions - very proper, nearly complete
PMDG 737-800, including the cargo and private jet versions - very proper, nearly complete
Leonardo Fly The Maddog MD-80, very proper
JustFlight BAe-146, all variants (-100,-200,-300, its QT or “Quiet Trader” alias cargo variants, and the VIP ones)
Aerosoft CRJ, 500,700,900,1000 and its variants - ok for full flight
    The upcoming ATR-72-500 from Asobo

In the development is plenty:
Synaptics Simulation A220
Ouroboros E-jets
The rest of A320 families by Fenix and FSLabs, maybe?
iFly 737MAX
MilViz ATR families

There are a lot of things going on in this community, you can follow the likes of FSElite or ThresholdX or MSFSAddons to get the latest news.

I’m a pc user and I have most of the airliners mentioned except the PMDG 737s and md I just wish there was more default small airliners to go to after taking a break from flying the payware ones because I like to balance flying payware with flying the default ones

hmmm

X Plane 11 Default Airliners: 738, 744, md80

P3DV5 Default Airliners: L049 Constellation (But no modern airliners because Lockheed doesn’t have any)

FSX Default Airlines: 738, 744, CRJ7, A321

FS2020 Default Airliners: A32N, 748, 78X

Someone mentioned it earlier: It’s all about licensing. Airbus and Boeing are household names pretty much everyone who’s ever flown commercially has at some point flown one of those two manufacturers.

And lets be honest. Lets say Asobo adds say an E175. You’re not gonna get more than working batteries, APU, Fuel Pumps, a half made FMC, an inaccurate flight model and loads of INOP buttons. It won’t be anything close to “study level” and my crystal ball is telling me we’d see “cmon get it together Asobo” threads complaining about adding planes that dont work. Shoot give it 9 days and we’ll see em after SU11

Honestly, the default airliner selection isn’t too bad. The one mid-range airliner that I wish they had included however was a default Boeing 737 though to give an alternative to the Airbus A-320. The reason I wish they had included the Boeing 737 as a default aircraft is because it is probably the most popular/used airliner in the world over the years and historically it has been an included aircraft in the MSFS series going back at least as far as I believe either FS2000 or FS98. I was disappointed to see that the Boeing 737 was not being included in the current version of MSFS when it was initially released. I wish they would have included both the Boeing 737 and the Airbus 320, especially since I would have thought that Asobo would have already had a licensing agreement in place with Boeing to create the 747 and 787 aircraft for the program.

I think what small airliners would have been perfect are the Boeing 717, Cessna 408, DO328 jet and Embraer e120 to balance out the traffic, the 717 is replacing the md 80, the Cessna 408 is a good alternative to the dash 8 100, the DO328 would be awesome for smaller Canadian airports because of their frequent use in Canada and the e120 would work for Caribbean ai traffic and help out the freeware panel builders having the older instruments plus the do328 and 717 are basically the same 737 800 style cockpit but different aircraft

An Embraer E190 would be cool

it’s a pretty close match between the a320 and 737 in terms of popularity imo. I think they chose the a320 since it’s a lot easier to learn than the 737 when you compare cold and dark start-ups.

It’s hard to say why they chose not to do the 737. Maybe it’s because they could only get licensing for the 78 and 74. Maybe some suit at Microsoft said “lol nah” on the 73. Maybe they considered the 73 but decided to use the extra licensing money on an airbus.

On the other hand, maybe they knew exactly what they were doing and decided to let 3rd parties take care of the rest of the boeing line?

Asobo is in France, and they decided to finally bring a good-looking Airbus into the flight sim world.
Fenix got inspired by this and decided to bring a photorealistic-looking Airbus with accurate systems and FMC to the flight sim world.

But they are not small. An A318-100 is

Theoretically there are no smaller airliners than this average size - smaller jets are Learjets and Gulfstreams and other private stuff.

There is only one real airliner that is very small, the Fairchild Dornier 328:

Those two aircraft would be really fun to fly add a Boeing 717 200 to that (because they didn’t do the 737) and it would be a really fun fleet
