Now released: Orbx KATL Atlanta Hartsfield-Jackson International

(Orbx Announces Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport for MSFS - FSElite)

I’m so excited for this one! Finally, after 4+ years of MSFS, ATL finally gets the love it deserves. Orbx is gonna kill this one!

Good news but the airport is undergoing some renovation. May consider taking a drive there this weekend.

For me any version of ATL works, even if its the 2022 layout. I just want to be able to fly there without crashing over some runway bump or staring down an AI plane because the Asobo AFCAD is broken.

Excited for ORBX’s take on Atlanta!

Pleased there’s going to be interior modelling, a missed opportunity with Imagesim’s KATL and KDFW.

I hope someone good decides to tackle DFW… and not just because Imaginesim doesn’t do interiors…

Well, from the article you linked it’s supposed to be based on the current (2025) layout.

I hope the don’t model every interior in super high detail, and that LODs are set properly - Atlanta is a big airport. I’d actually prefer if they followed iniBuilds’ lead with their recent larger airports and lets users toggle interiors off in favor of simulated perspective exterior views. Otherwise we’re at risk of getting a better modeled but even worse-performing airport than the existing Asobo (or is it Gaya?) KATL.

Almost a year later and there is no update at all :frowning:

There’s been quite a few updates in recent months. He’s pretty responsive on the Orbx forms and by reading the latest post on this form- this scenery is sounding like it’ll be released before “end of the winter months”. Also there’s plenty of more screenshots on this form too:

The screenshots on FSElite look phenomenal, I can’t wait for this one.

Me too, I hope the delay was worth the wait.

You think so? I wasn’t so sure. The ground textures looked incredibly blurry to me. But that may just be the settings of the screenshot-taker. I understand that there’s a tradeoff between quality and performance, especially at an airport so large, but what I saw on FSElite left me somewhat disappointed.

Yeah, compared to Gaya’s or Imaginesim’s version, it’s a massive improvement. I don’t mind blurriness here and there, given the size of the airport. IniBuilds KDFW also lacks some details of their other airports because of its size.

Oh I agree. We have been in dire need of a high quality KATL. Maybe my expectations are too high, or (what I hope to be the case is) that with high enough settings, the blurry textures I saw will be fixed.

But for what I assume will be a $25+ scenery, the ground textures I’m seeing in the screenshots are not impressing me. The gate numbers are hardly readable.

Whenever I take screenshots I always bump the TLOD and OLOD sliders to the max. I wonder if this was done in these shots… or if it looks like this with T/OLOD 50 (which I like to use while I am fiddling in Dev Mode).

For a moment there I thought this was finally released. I got really excited and was ready to bust out the debit card. Now I feel like I’m all dolled up on a Saturday night with no place to go.

Shouldn’t be much longer. Fingers crossed.

Just watched some of the British AVGeek stream… unfortunately in the last 5 minutes of the stream he specifically says he can’t recommend it. That’s a shame. Hopefully ORBX will continue doing updates to get it right before launch. Even if that means another delay.

Better to delay, and make it right.

Nobody wants a half baked product.
