I had 30 airports purchased on marketplace alot of money. About 28 worked fine but they are disabled. This is a lesson learned buy somewhere else in future. It would be nice if they could allow us to enable them own our own. It appears those who purchased off marketplace are able to install in community folder an use.
Yes, I’m frustrated too, but I suppose we bought them for FS2020, where they still work fine. It was (and hopefully will be again, one day) a bonus yo have them on FS2024.
They made an official statement regarding this. You will keep all your addons. The Sceneries are just temporarily disabled, until they fixed all incompatibilities. No need to fall into rage or panic.
Cheers
Agree. I’m in same boat. What’s annoying is that they removed them (I can see why they did, we needed the option of having a vanilla sim), but they have now made them all unavailable so we now can’t enable them to try them out, and have given no timeline for us to do so (tied to marketplace release). What’s also annoying is you can’t copy them over to community from FS2020 either as the DRM/encryption ties them specifically to FS2020 use only. 3rd party FS2020 (non DRM’d) airports outside of marketplace can easily be enabled/tried out/used via copying into community folder.
And all 30 work fine on FS2020. That’s what you bought them for. None of these airports came with the guarantee they would function without problems in FS2024
The reason not to buy from M.P. still stands though. I now can use all my OWN 3.rd party airports in MSFS2024, EXCEPT the one I had to buy there.
This may well be true but they did promise us that most fs2020 marketplace content would be functional in fs2024. What annoys me right now is that they won’t currently let us even try it via enable/disable toggles, and havent given us a timeline either. There is no logical reason not to give users control over what they want to try out and what they don’t. I do understand why they might want to try to keep debugging any issues encountered with the base sim simple though by removing 3rd party sceneries.
When MSFS 2024 was announced, they stated that all, or at least most, of the 2020 addons will work with 2024 out of the box. So there was around a timeframe of one year where we as customers bought 2020 addons in the belief that we will be able to use it in 2024.
Your statement is only semi correct…
And people really thought that all MP addons would work on day one of release of 2024 especially if you bought 3rd party off the MP. SMH?
They said they should work but did not guarantee anything.
Also true, but what we learn is that it is best to buy at 3rd party stores.
I transferred all my products where it was possible from marketplace and other vendors to Contrail.
In my experience this is the best store, fastest updates, best customer service, and they already have over 200 products marked compatible for MSFS 2024 so you can use them in the new sim.
That is mainly scenery though right? I don’t know but I was kind of referring to aircraft and not aware that Contrail had much aircraft sold on it? From what I understand most 2020 scenery works in 2024 anyways.
Also some aircraft, e.g. the Just Flight portfolio. But yeah, no Fenix or PMDG. Mostly scenery, yes.
I’d rather have fixes to bugs faster rather than have access to airport I purchased in 2020, flooding the game with content will just muddy the water and generate more distraction.
Does Contrail apply any type of encryption to the addons?
Regrettably Market Place has been known to be unreliable, unfortunately it is buyer beware!
Purchase from a reputable vendor where you have full control of your items, spend as little as possible. Put your feet up and start learning to mod your own airports as a relaxation exercise on Sundays and there is always flightsim.to ![]()
Not to mention the slooow download speeds for fs2020 marketplace items. The speeds were horrific and not addressed in over 1.5 years! They used to be fine too.
This is not a reason to not purchase from the marketplace. Those that purchased from other locations will have the same incompatibility issues. So regardless of whether you purchased on the marketplace or not, you still would not be able to use those addons.
But does other vendors apply encryption like marketplace?
Yeah but it’s your choice, all mine worked.
I really didn’t, but then they enabled them for just long enough to determine they did work and then they blanket banned the lot.
