Nuuk, Greenland: brand new airport (IRL); three MSFS/FS2024 versions coming this week!

After yesterday’s announcement of Nuuk by M’M Simulations, I imagine they’re probably quite peeved to see FSimStudios announce the same airport today…

I like both devs’ work but I think FSimStudios are gonna win this one (theirs features town POIs). Still, I suggest waiting for both in you’re interested in this airport— you never know…

I’d love to see some comparisons of the two.

I’ve just received an email directly from Fsimstudios about this airport. I’d be interested to know where they got my email address from as I’ve never had dealings with them.

Have you ever bought any of their airports from Contrail or another webshop?

We are owned by the same company that owns other well-known development teams (Miltech, for example). We share the same marketing team, among other things.

It looks like we’ll soon have three versions of Nuuk — FSDG have hinted that they’re also releasing a version! I imagine the M’M and FSDG versions will be close but I still think FSimStudios will edge them both. I’m going to wait till all three are out, though.

As someone else said - may the best version win!

In the meantime… we are actively working on the first batch of updates and improvements  Adding a few more POIs to the city.

FSDG just released theirs. Its got a higher price than FSimStudios’ version (£15 as opposed to £12) but also includes city POIs. M’M have no doubt got their hands full but they now have the initiative, being last to release and able to properly evaluate the competition.

I suspect MK Studios will now quietly drop their proposed version…

And M’M’s now released. I think THREE versions of the same airport within four days sets a new record!

Greenland is getting LOTS of attention - both in the news and FlightSim it seems

Happy that’s the case though. Such an amazing place that deserves more attention, and incredibly happy we had the opportunity to visit and survey the airport to capture the small details

I don’t have much to contribute other than I had no plans to get this airport, but now I probably will.

I’ve been pleased with all three developers in the past. Someone make a comparison video already so I can grab popcorn and watch

Here is a very good comparison of the three sceneries (in German but with lots of comparison screenshots).

Just what we were looking for. FSDG really need to better use images to advertise their products — theirs is clearly way better than the limited number of (mostly pretty useless) marketing images suggest.

Between FSDG and FSimStudios, Whichever gets discounted first will probably determine which I buy, since I’m in no hurry to add Nuuk.

The completely rebuilt city is a strong argument in favour of buying the FSDG version. However, I like the terminal building and the ground textures better in FSimStudios version. Overall, I tend to favour FSS. However, I noticed a few details that were modelled more faithfully by FSDG. The wall to the right of the terminal does not go round the corner towards the airside, for example. And I also couldn’t find the boundary to the left of the terminal made of boulders in any photos or videos of the real airport. What bothers me most is the lack of a perimeter fence around the airport. And last but not least, the landside behind the terminal seems to be more detailed by FSDG too. If some of these points are improved with an update, I would buy the FSS version. In its current state, I would favour FSDG because of the city and the more realistic replica.

I think both versions are very good overall. Incidentally, it may very well be that other details have been realised more precisely by FSS than FSDG. However, I particularly noticed the points mentioned above. The terminal interior certainly looks better in FSS version.

I read somewhere that FSimStudios were issuing an update to address a few issues but the store sites still display v1.0. I can’t find that statement anywhere but I definitely didn’t dream it.

Will post the update as soon as its ready, in a few hrs.

But all the above is addressed (and more!). Quite a lengthy changelog coming.

M’M Sims must be feeling the pinch — their Nuuk is discounted already at a couple of stores! I feel for all three devs and there are pros and cons to revealing your projects in advance — however I can’t help but feel the pros outweigh the cons. I generally like M’M’s work but their Nuuk is clearly the least accurate, and isn’t helped by the lack of anything in the city. They’ve issued two updates but they mostly fix bugs that probably should have been caught in testing. I think the only addition is the Hans Egede statue, which I’m not sure is included in the other two?

Didn’t FSim actually stay at the airport for a few days? From what I’ve seen it seems to have paid off.

Yeah, they got stuck there. But there are, apparently, still inaccuracies.

It’s definitely now a two-horse race between FSimStudios and FSDG. The better city certainly goes in FSDG’s favour but it will be interesting to see what FSimStudios’ imminent update offers.
