No, Nvidia release notes list stuttering in MSFS with this driver and HAGS off as a known issue.
My gpu is practically idling, I had 120% rendering with TAA last night.
It’s as if they moved a lot of work from the gpu to the cpu with the UK update. All into the same thread.
I have a feeling there is much more juice to squeeze out of this sim through optimization.
That’s why I’m in no hurry to upgrade hardware.
Its already showing that my 1080ti/8700K combo is more than enough as I’m running some pretty high settings smoothly now.
I have an RTX 2070 with 8700k and had been using the 457 driver. This one seems good, at least as good as 457 and I plan to keep it. I did a clean installation of the driver which I recommend.
As a non-VR user, I noticed an improvement by disabling HAGS, a not-insignificant 5fps increase, so I would agree that this is likely a VR thing. But something that will be fixed in a future update I assume, so disabling it may be possible in future versions without this issue.

With 465.89 in both VR and none, I have seen good improvement. To the point of resuming flying in VR after taking a break from it following the latest sim update
I’m still with 457.30, still the best by far for me. And also Blender renders faster with 457.30 than with 465.89. That usually tells me something.

Updated to 465.89, updated to latest vBios and motherboard bios, enable resizable bar.
Same settings as before, but now it feels almost as smooth as AeroFly FS2 in VR.
Turned up the settings a little, still very smooth.
PS. I’ll never look at FPS again… it was driving me crazy chasing performance, but with this combo of drivers, it’s all working as it should.
While I only live in the mundane no VR world…this update made no observable difference…just like the last half dozen updates.

I tried 465.89 last night. Everything was updated as it should be. HAGS switched on. I noticed much worse performance than 457.30. Lost about 6/7 FPS. Things of late have been much better with the older driver. Averaging about 35FPS in GA aircraft with OXR 70 and TAA 80 with mostly high settings.
BIG improvement here - HAGS off though. Best performance I’ve seen in VR since release.

I just posted this on another thread showing my results from about 3 hours of testing last night, the new driver has been amazing for me, check out the post to see my results.
Do you mean disabled? It is enabled by default.
Sorry, I should have said, I had disabled it previously during some previous testing. It’s now enabled again.
I`m very happy with this new driver. GTX1080ti, i7 7700k. Oculus Quest 2 and Virtual Desktop SteamVR.
Ah ah even if I agree those new drivers are better for us RTX 30xx users, and MSFS is more smooth, don’t compare it with Aerofly FS2 that I adore as I can run AFS2 at Ultra settings in VR and SuperSampling 200% and keep in all situation (steam gauges or panels, light or heavy airliner, in the desert or between New York buildings) ) my native 90Hz on my Oculus rift CV1.
That will be a dream if MSFS can reach those performance! ![]()
I hear ya, but really for me, at the same settings I was running for the 457.30 drivers and my system, when I did all the updates (including re-bar etc) it really did make me think, “This is very close to the smoothness of Aerofly”. Of course I can crank up the settings and tank the performance, but if you were to “match” the visual settings of Aerofly it’s getting very close to that level of smoothness. For me, on my system… today… tomorrow it might be cloudy and everything will change. ![]()
Cheers!
What is the function of the resizable bar and how does one find it? Is it worth updating BIOS for this? Does it improve performance?
For MSFS 2020 right now, no.
