Too bad Im obsessed with the simple way you can alter colors etc in GF Experience.
I also stopped using ReShade for the same reason, but just reinstalled it again. Seems ok for now, and discovered a new patch tweak as well.
Iām using 531.41 and have not seen any issues, everything running fine. Not using GEForce experience filters though. RTX3090, DX11, DLSS.
No issues with 531.41 since upgrade (4 days ago) DDU clean install.
RTX 3070 Ti
Hags ON
DX11
TAA
No shaders
Default nvidia ncp settings except GPU max performance tweek.
No issues with it on DX11 either.
Soon as I switched to DX12 it was constant.
Same here on a rtx2070
Since 23/03/2023 I have not been able to make a flight properly without having a ctd.
Have downgraded to 531.29.
Had to also roll back to 531.29 after 4 unsuccessful flights. RTX 3070 Ti and i9 12th gen have not tried DX11 mode with newest driver to see if it would fix the issue.
So, HAGS on! Have you experimented and found that its better, or is it ājust onā ? =) So many opinions on both HAGS and Game mode. Not sure what to think really. 3060 Ti Here.
How is reshade to use vs GF experience filter settings? I really dont want to have that running in background, but i get much better colours. Can reshade do that for me in a simplel (!) way? ⦠and deos it take less resources than GFE?
Whats the LATEST general opinion regarding:
- Vsync settings on/off (at all) or in NCP vs āin gameā ?
- Vsync settings āin gameā regarding percentage of refresh rate
- Difference in which settings to use with gsync/compatile screen vs not.
- TLOD and OLOD ?
- HAGS and Game mode in Win 10 resp 11 (if different)
- Using OC on GPU in Afterburner (ok within limits or not at all?)
- How much of stutter etc is caused by āoverwhelmedā MS servers?
- Latest Nvidia (or AMD) drivers vs earlier drivers (DX11 or 12 difference?)
- DX 11 vs DX 12 in game over all (cons vs pros - and problems at the moment)
/Previous Sim pilot, now more of a engineeer at the Black Mesa research facility. (omg).
For me (5950X + 3090):
Thank you so much for your input! I guess we all have different experiences with FS2020, but this is a really good help, exactly the type of answers I was looking for, short, informative and clean! Thank you once again!
Just wish I could get rid of the flickers in fine textures as fences, antennas etc with both TAA and DLSS. Using DLSS-DLAA now since it gives me crisper graphics at same fps as TAA. But to get 60fps+ I need to use DLSS Quality. (Ive played around with the different .dll - versions of DLSS, but so far not a big difference in SU12). Rolled back to standard version again.
Not tried switching DLSS versions at all just usnig sim defaults.
for what itās worth I think some flickering seems to be add on related. I see quite a few flickers here and there (GSX has one or two forexample), also some bad transparency issues (some airports have buildings that have āblack texturesā that you see stand out through clouds when on approach. I donāt know if itās a sim thing, a DX11/12 or AA thing. You do have to learn to live with some quirks though with this sim.
Thatās very system specific, so advise you test it out yourself.
https://flightsim.to/file/20557/finallight-reshade-preset-realistic-colors-and-tone-fixes is a good lightweight reshade preset, and can be tweaked nicely adding ContrastSharpening at default settings.
Good luck.
Well the only problem is that for 4 series you have to use DX12 + HAGS On if you want FG so, I guess weāll pray for the next one to fix filters !
I dissabled HAGS a few months ago due several crashes and GPU device warnings.
I just read in other topics that some people tried to enabled again suscesfully one month ago or so.
I just upgrade my 2060 super to a 3070 Ti and tried to enable HAGS again and have no issues and a smoother experience in the sim.
My GPU and CPU loads and temps are the same with HAGS on / off.
If you use OBS for streaming or recording MSFS I recommend dissable HAGS, otherwise you can give a try enabling to see if you have performance boost or not.
I often record 4k 60fp lossless with OBS using the gpuās NVENC, 2.64 decoder (rather than putting more pressure on an overburdened cpu). For this HAGs is pretty much essential. rtx3060(12GB).
Mind you I havenāt yet tried the software 2.64 encoder since upgrading my cpu to a 5800x
Edit: On the new cpu the (low cpu usage) software 2.64 encoder works well with no framedrops as long as I keep multithreading enabled.
Good info! I will try it again and see. But Game mode shall be off, right?
Nope, game mode ON HAGS ON.
