I would like to know when Nvidia is going to produce an update for MSFS 2024 specifically. there never seems to be a mention for the 5000 series and this game specifically - given there are so many issues with this series with CTD’s so you’d think MS/Asobo would have had a chat Nvidia about this.

Until there is an optimized driver for MSFS and MSFS2024, it is recommended by many to stick with version 577

Nothing but problems with this driver on my side.
Problems I have seen with this driver:

  • FS2020 sometimes loads fine but then freezes on the main menu,
  • If I disable DX12 i can get into a flight but then my sim black screens
  • I get a 1B0_E658703.dll crash to desktop
  • Entire PC freezed up 1 hour into a flight

My specs are:
CPU - AMD 7800X3D
GPU - Nvidia RTX 5080 Founders
RAM - Corsair 32GB 6000mhz

I have tried with no community addons and the same happens. Rolling back drivers to 580.88 had no effect, my sim crashed on start up.
I have cleared my shader caches (DL and GX cache"). Windows 11 is all up to date.

100% my recomendation too (3070 Laptop here, windows 10, MSFS 2024). I’m losing FPS over time while on the dev FPS monitor everything looks ok. And that doesn’t happen with 577.00

With drivers newer than 577.00, there will be CTDs if MSFS is running in DX11 - even without the Nvidia app.
If you want to use the latest Nvidia drivers starting from version 580.88, DX12 must be selected in MSFS 2020 settings.

If you use driver version 577.00 or older and want to play DX11 in MSFS 2020, the Nvidia app should not be installed.

Hmm… I got driver 580.97, Nvidia app installed and DX11 in MSFS 2020. Everything works normally. Go figure…

You probably just forgot that you already have DX12 - I remember suggesting to you some time ago to switch from DX11 to DX12.

I have 581.15, DX11, and no Nvidia app, I am getting the best performance I ever had in VR with a RTX3060ti graphics card. MSFS 2020

Stable so far. (FS2024, Nvidia 4090)

Yes, that worked and I thank you for that. But after that I changed back to DX11 and my sim works normally. Just checked both from the sim and user.cfg.opt: DX11. Never mind, at least the sim works, that´s the most important thing :+1: :airplane:

I just installed 581.15 from 581.08

MSFS2024, DX12, Windows 11

I have a RTX5070 card , Intel i714700, 32GB

This update is awesome! My VRAM usage went down 10% , my FPS went up more than double (average 130 now). The colours look more vibrant, more details and water looking better.

This driver is great for my system. :+1:

Ex: Flying over London City from

Heathrow , VRAM 66%, RAM 49%, CPU 24%, FPS 125

I am on the sidelines for 6 months using 577 or until ASUS tells me to move on….

I have been locked onto 577 for some time and have had decent performance in both MSFS versions in DX11 and/or DX12. Of course I am not an FPS hound, either. I presently have mine capped at 35.

Anyway, I am curious if other more conservative flyers have noticed any graphics quality improvements with the latest driver versions or were they primarily updated versions for other games?

Someone here alluded to that scenario.

I am also wondering if 577 was an upgrade specifically aimed at us MSFS jockeys?

It’s so ‘iffy” messing around with these drivers…

Does anyone know which version of Nvidia driver last mentioned MSFS in the release notes?
