Not sure if it was in the release notes, but 576.52 may have been a milestone around the time SU2 released, as that’s when I switched from TAA to DLSS/Quality.
580.88
After some time, they removed MSFS 2024 from the release notes.
JayzTwoCents video comparing NVIDIA drivers - data shows trend that newer versions are decreasing performance instead of improving it:
“Aging like fine milk”
He didn’t really discover anything new, but it’s good that he brought attention to it. I’ve been saying for a long time that, in my opinion, the last stable NVIDIA drivers was 566.14 (and for some people 566.36) - anything newer is just garbage. Glad to see I’m not the only one who thinks so. And I’m saying this from a global perspective, across different games and players.
The newest drivers have all been working well for me with my 4060ti 16gb so I really do suspect that the problems really lie in the 50 series cards. It is interesting that these cards and drivers came out during the AI coding hayday. As a long time programmer having been numerous times exposed to so called code generators, they were all abysmal failures. For simple tasks no problem. Add in any complexity and it takes a human mind to get to the bottom of things.
Well, he did test methodically to get and publish comparable data showing the clear trend across game titles, which isn’t nothing - it’s a lot of work. And it does help to validate what a lot of people experienced.
Perhaps more importantly, NVIDIA might notice (the recent amount of negative press…) and eventually make some improvements.
Exactly. Microsoft announced that 30% of code in Windows is now AI generated… what could go wrong?
Exactly, that’s why I said it’s good he brought attention to it.
If I came over to your place, reinstalled the driver and launched MSFS 2020, I can guarantee I’d force a CTD during loading
The driver issue isn’t limited to the new 50-series GPUs - it also affects older models. This is a global problem, not just something tied to a specific GPU.
Ah, I’ve uninstalled 2020 and only flying in 2024.
I’ve got both sim installed - that way if something goes wrong with one, I can always jump into the other
The important thing is that 2024 it’s working fine for you and I hope it stays that way for you all the time.
Because of all youtubers/content creators perform mostly non-FS benchmarks:
can any geeky-nerdy-freaky guy here in this forum perform a benchmark comparision between 577.00 (the official driver with all security fixes until July 2025) and 581.15 for FS2020?
Maybe also “the best one” 566.14 should also get into the comparision (but it has security vulnerabilities …
) ?!?
I think there’s someone outside here who’s doing such benching sometimes …
Would be very interesting for all of us if there’s a real measured benefit running “the older one” instead of the newest …
Thank you!
I’m currently doing general benchmarking of my new PC (built over the summer) with a fresh clean new install of Windows and all the latest BIOS, drivers, etc. I spent a couple of weeks just messing around learning the Windows vs NVIDIA graphics settings, the MSFS 2024 Graphics and controller settings, and decided to do a fresh clean start for SU 4 Beta.
That means I’m using the current GRD 851.15 … I’m not going to roll back to an earlier version, but if there is a specific test on the current driver, I might be able to do it.
I’m testing stock BIOS vs CPU and GPU under volt in a few benchmarks, and then also just loading in to 787 at KJFK at various MSFS presets to get an idea - not comprehensive.
I really appreciate every test you do - it’s a huge help to the community. I’m afraid, that you might not be able to test the latest stable versions, 566.14 and 566.36, because they aren’t compatible with your GPU.
EDIT
@DeMaFS2020 asked for testing 566.14, but you won’t be able to run it.
New driver available

Thats true, the 5000 RTX won’t run on this driver, but all previous ones will
… I think the minority in this forum has a brand new RTX 5000 card …
Agree, and that makes sense since they are only out a few months now. With a 5070Ti, I find I need to read through most posts realizing that most have earlier cards and will have different experiences with the latest drivers. OTOH most of the latest drivers are working just fine on my 5070Ti, so we just need to be patient around here and try to communicate clearly and fully about our gear & experiences. All my 581.15 flights have been satisfactory in DLSS 310.4.0/Quality preset K.

Cool. Maybe post your findings on the new thread too?
I second this. I am using 566.14 and .36. Especially for 30x cards
Good morning guys, I don’t know if anyone has tried it, but by disabling HAGS on my Windows 11 PC with the latest update, I can use 2020 in DX11 with the Nvidia app and the latest driver… of course, I lose frame generation, which is not a big problem for me as I have been using lossless scaling for months… maybe you have already tried it, and in that case, I apologize for the repetition, but I thought it might be helpful… have a nice day and have fun!
