Nvidia app installed with dlss preset override to latest.
Just installed new driver and so far so good. Didn’t use ddu, but did choose clean install.
Everything on ultra, except motion blur and depth of field off as I don’t like them.
Olod 900.
Shadows 8192.
Cubemap 512.
Vsync off.
Low latency/reflex off.
Frame gen off.
No frame cap.
Dlss set to dlaa, with full res of 7680 2160.
Tlod back up to 200. (:: edit:: sorry, it’s 180, not 200, forgot i was testing 180, as it looks the same as 200, but better on mainthread)
Traffic sliders all half the default values.
Done a few flights now and seems pretty smooth.
Previously I had to lock frames to 40 to fix stutter or cap at 80 with frame gen to keep it smooth, but in all the flights I’ve tried now, seems fine without doing any of that.
Just kept nvidia settings default except for enabling gsync and the dlss override and rtx dynamic vibrance.
No crashes or major stutters that I’ve noticed and it all looks great.
I’m testing new driver 581.29 and it’s working fine (as the previous one) on an Asus RTX5090. Very smooth on 4k with DLSS 310.4 preset K and DLAA. Also in VR it is fine in DLSS/Quality (with not working mouse )
Overall, the new Nvidia driver works fine, but … I guess no one will be surprised when I say that if MSFS 2020 is running in DX11, it still results in a CTD during loading. Hopefully they’ll finally fix this sometime this decade.
I’ve found that on certain hardware setups, MSFS 2020 tends to perform better in DX11 than DX12. That’s why I usually test the sim in both modes to compare stability and performance. It’s not a hardware issue.
You can switch between DX11 and DX12 in the in-game settings, or by editing the UserCfg.opt file.
To do this, you need to edit UserCfg.opt file and modify the line PreferD3D12 0
Well, perhaps you can, but I can’t. I tried adding that line you referred to in the UserCfg file and it looks great until I start the sim. After that, the line gets wiped clean.
Apparently, it is mandatory now to run MSFS2024 ONLY in DX12. So it overwrites/clears any attempts in my system to run it under DX11.
NP. BTW, I just checked my FS2020 in DX11. I verified that in the Developer Mode FPS panel. It started up just fine. No issues. It must be a bug that thankfully, I don’t share.
