Nvidia GeForce Game Ready Driver 581.80 Discussion Thread

i9-13900kf / 4090 / 64GB RAM

Ryzen 9 7950X3D, 64 GB RAM 6000 MHz, RTX 5090.

Smooth as silk with 581.80 in MSFS 2024 in 2D and VR. Nice driver.

RTX 5090. Previous driver was 580.88. No noticeable difference with this driver. Cleared all caches after updating (dx, gl, d3d, fs24 rolling).

Same here, performs exactly like the previous version.

Have been rocking 576.88 on my 5090 since that driver released. Installing the new driver and I cannot unselect the Nvidia App during the custom install? So it’s a forced download now?

I didn’t have any problem needing to install the nvidia app. Just followed the usual nvidia driver option, then custom. Then the nvidia app install option was unselected.

Also no propblems from my side. Espaccially the audio stutters are completely gone. Flew with the Fenix A321 from LOWI to EDDW, past EDDF, with full BeyondATC and no problems at all.

We’ve NV Cleaned and DDU’d the 581.87 Studio Driver and there are no apparent issues with this version.

As we’re interested in stability rather the latest ā€˜Whiz Bang’ gaming aspects this seems the way to go for the best result using our FE 5090.

ā€œSee recent driver stability and compatibility tests for drivers up to and including 581.57ā€

Summary
  • ā€œWindows 11 KB5065789 / KB5066835 / KB5070773 / KB5067036 may impact framerates on some system configurations and gamesā€
  • ā€œWindows 11 24H2/25H2 KB5065789 and later, some games may incorrectly show ā€˜unsupported graphics card has been detected’ when launching on GeForce 20 series or later GPUs with driver versions 580.88 and laterā€
  • ā€œProcess Lasso, depending on how configured, is contributing to gaming stability issues when aggressive process CPU priority rules and/or CPU affinity rules are appliedā€

I’m bored waiting for my IRL flight to Cairo (EPWA-HECA) so I decided to share my thoughts about the latest NVIDIA driver. I installed it without NVIDIA app and removed the old one using DDU. I haven’t noticed any issues with MSFS 2020 SU4 beta so far - overall MSFS 2024 SU4_B runs fine - no stuttering during or after landing, and no stutters when panning the camera either.
I didn’t test whether there’s a CTD when launching MSFS 2020 with DX11.

I don’t feel the same way. In my case, I experience stutters while panning the camera during takeoff, landing, and taxiing. In version .22, it was much better than this build. I hope Asobo will fix the problem with frame generation that is causing these stutters.

Can’t launch mfs2020 with this driver, 2024 all good. 5090 14900ks

What driver is recommended when using MFS2020 DX11 no FG and MFS2024 TA no FG (multi screens)

Stick with 577.00, stable on both MSFS 2020 and 2024.

Not sure what magic they cooked up with this one, but it runs surprisingly better than the previous driver.

MSFS 2020

Ryzen 7 5800X3D 3.4GHz

64GB RAM

RTX 3070 8GB VRAM

Same here - tremendous improvement. Very occasional slight stutter, but mostly smooth as silk.

I updated today. I deleted my shader cache as usual. MSFS 2024 no problem. MSFS 2020 repeated CTD on loading the sim. Deleted Community folder and restarted in Safe Mode… still repeated CTD on loading the sim. So far I can only conclude this driver is somehow at fault, as it is the only thing which has changed since the last time I flew in MSFS 2020. Any advice welcome…

No CTD for me with 2020 using dx12.
