Sadly, I had my first CTD with this driver. I came from 576.88, uninstalled it using DDU, and installed 581.80 via the NVIDIA app. Performance is greatâno stutters, everythingâs smooth⊠until my MSFS2024 froze during landing on RWY 09L at LFPG. Just at the moment of touchdown, the sim froze, and then I received this error message:
Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 Your graphics device has encountered a problem and the application will exit. Error: DXGI_ERROR_DEVICE_RESET (0x887a0007) This error could be due to either of: - a driver fault - an application bug - graphics card overheating - graphics card overclocking For more information see: https://flightsimulator.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/6422969348508
My specs are: AMD Ryzen 9 9950X3D, RTX 5080 64Gb RAM.
If you removed your NVIDIA driver with DDU, there shouldnât be any NVIDIA apps left on your system. When DDU is set up correctly, it wipes out the driver and all NVIDIA-related software.
DDU also clears your nvidia cache as well. It also clears your registry so if you use the ShowDlssIndicator mod youâll need to redo that. You may still want to do a win disk cleanup to clear the DX cache.
Are you Undervolting?
Nvidia should optimize the next driver version especially for FS2024 !
I have had stutters with the newest nvidia drivers, didnt update for 6months and they still cause stutters. anyone else?
There are already threads for nVidia drivers, and the newest one has a very good performance regarding to the posters.
Are you on the SU4 beta? Lots more stutters in those for me since .22, although .25 seems to be doing better.
What exactly is your issue? 581.80 is peachy on my end (in SU4 Beta).
I ran 581.80 on my recently retired 14900KF/5090 and am currently running it on my new 9800x3d/5090 system. No issues experienced in sim, during web browsing, video playback on Youtube. Like Maki said, itâs been peachy on Su4 Beta
Not updated to SU4 yet but otherwise it works fine for me on a 4070 Super 13700KF, 64Gb RAM.
A dozen flights over 9 flight hours in 24 SU3 on 581.80 and it is super sweet on my PC (specs in my profile). Nice progression from earlier drivers.
Hotfix 581.94
This Hotfix addresses the following:
- Lower performance may be observed in some games after updating to Windows 11 October 2025 KB5066835 [5561605]
I tried it - 581.94 in both MSFS versions. No problems. But then I was also not experiencing any issues with 581.80, either.
In the past few days I have gone from the âofficially approvedâ 576.40 to 581.80 and today 581.94.
Reason?
I was beginning to get intermittent screen flickering, particularly when moving around in the glass cockpits of various aircraft. Since I moved away from 576.40, there have been no more flickering incidents, while I continue to see no stutters, CTDs or other immersion-killing incidents.
I have no idea if 581.94 did anything for my system but will closely monitor it for the next few days just to be sure.
I have a modest system, both PC Store sim versions DX12, I7-12700 CPU, RTX 3070 8GB, maxed out RAM.
Settings: RTSS capped FPS - 40, TAA, mostly medium graphics, but Iâve implemented the registry hack that allows me to separately control image sharpening in the NCP (makes a big difference in my eyes even for the steam guages). As itâs not the purpose of this thread, Iâd be happy to provide more detailed info about my settings, in the appropriate one if anyone is interested.
Also, I use the simple and direct nVidia default installation technique that they package with the driver, updating the driver while retaining previous driver settings. Iâve tried the DDU thing previously with clearing the shader caches, etc. but I see no value added on my system.
I know u guys play with 20fps and stutters but I used to have drivers which had no stutters at all. but now I updated and dont remember which they were. Any ideas? In msfs2020
Gtx 1660 super
Try 566.14
Thanks sir will try!
Since the last drivers, Iâve been having startup crashes in FS2020. If I stick with DX11, DX12 doesnât crash, but in VR itâs a disaster with the DX12 beta. I have an RTX 4060 8GB that worked fine with DX11.
