Q&A 1 MSFS 2020 Questions
12:07 Can Asobo re-allow zoom level above 18 and the 512x512 textures that have been supported by 2020 up until SU16? Even if Asobo directly does not leverage the higher quality this is then allowing community and developers the scope to use such quality. Thanks
13:40 The resolution and colour quality of aerial imagery has dramatically decreased in many parts of the world in MSFS 2020 since SU16’s update to the latest Bing maps. This has been validated on the forums with 214 votes on the corresponding bug/feedback thread and over 1450 replies of users voicing their disappointment on the SU16 feedback poll too. Can you please provide some insight why this occurred and whether it will be resolved? There are still many devoted users of MSFS 2020 that would like to keep playing this sim at the high quality that it has been.
15:30 What is planned for the future of Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020. Does the team plan a Sim Update 17?

Q&A 2 MSFS 2024 Features
23:40 Can Seb go into some details about some of the work Asobo have been doing to help improve the performance in Sim Update 4?
32:20 What’s the status on features like bush trips, reno air race, red bull air race
33:05 What is the status of the world hub for MSFS2024? We were under the impression that the last hurdle for The World Hub being re-released was the SU-16 release that brought FS-2000 up to the same image data as FS-2024. What’s next?.
33:45 With night lighting being addressed by the team in SU4 beta, are there any improvements we can expect in terms of the atmosphere and clouds next?
- Night lighting demo video.
39:45 Prior to MSFS 2024 allowing users to locally download/install content via My Library, Seb talked about how the fully local size of the sim (to be on-par with MSFS (2020)) would be between 1-2TB, however even users with the largest edition of the sim see that it’s less than 500GB. Is something still in the works to be downloaded locally, like an offline version of the terrain, or was this number off previously?
41:30 Since 2024 was released, what is planned to fix the overly bright POI issues at night? What is causing the overly bright lighting of POIs?
42:15 On the World Map, you need to zoom in too much to see POIs in 2024. I know they can clutter the screen so maybe you can have a toggle to turn them on or off? I like flying to POIs but it is impossible to find them in 2024.
43:40 Q: How does the team decide between releasing a hotfix or waiting until the next beta for testing?
45:40 Many users are reporting stutters on landing, or loss in FPS when quickly switching/panning camera views at airports. What is the status on the investigation for this?
- -
Q&A 3 Aircraft
48:55 Is there going to be an Update to the EC-135 T1 by Nemeth?
49:30 How is Hans doing with ATR updates?
50:30 What’s the status about fixes for the aircraft in the Aviator Edition? Some Aviator Edition aircraft have features that are buggy or non-functional in MSFS 2024.
51:35 In a recent stream you mentioned that the community shared a comprehensive list of glider-related issues, some of which seem weather-related. Do you have any updates on the glider topic?
- -
52:45 Famous Flyer 13: Northrop T-38A Talon from Blackbird with special guest Colin Pearson.

Q&A 4 Marketplace and Career
63:15 First off, congratulations to iniBuilds on the A340 release, it’s an exciting addition to the sim and clearly a lot of work has gone into it. That said, one of the key points of community discussion has been the Marketplace exclusivity, with some users speculating it may be related to piracy concerns. With that in mind, will iniBuilds (and other developers) have access to a more streamlined process for delivering timely hotfixes and updates to their marketplace items?
66:00 I’d like to ask if there are any updates or if there is any information you can give about adding in heavy cargo jobs into the career mode?
67:35 Why does it still take years for new developers to get accepted to the Marketplace? Can please you elaborate on how the application process works, and why developers don’t hear from MS years after submitting their application.
- -
Q&A 5 PlayStation 5
70:00 Will MSFS 2024 have cross play when it comes out on PS5 so I can play with my friend who plays on Xbox?
70:10 Which peripherals will be PS5-compatible at PlayStation launch?
70:55 Controller (gamepad) support is still problematic in MSFS 2024, with issues like an AI pilot intervening during Cursor Mode and various UI problems for players without a mouse (EFB, flight planning, clickspots, etc.). With the impending release of the PlayStation 5 version, are you working on fixing and improving the user experience with a gamepad, for those who don’t use a mouse for the sim?
71:45 How will add-on support and the Marketplace work on PS5? Will all available add-ons work on the new platform, including WASM support and the same pricing?
72:40 Can add-on developers expect additional work and QA on PlayStation, or is everything expected to be compatible out of the box?
73:45 Q: Will PC/Xbox Marketplace purchases be in our library if we buy the PS5 version?
- -
73:15 Red Bull Air Races Update
- -
74:10 Famous Flyer 14: Boom XB1 with special guests: Marwan Gharib (FlightFX) and Chris Burnett (Working Title)
- -
91:00 Roadmap 2025
- -
92:20 Q: Is there any update regarding the H225 development? According to HPG, they shipped an update before SU3 already which has not been released yet.
93:15 Q: There are some aircraft that aren’t compatible with the Flight Planner. For example, with the A320 and A330 models, as well as some other aircraft, I can’t simply transfer a planned flight to the MCDU like I can with Simbrief. Will this feature be added later so that all first-party aircraft will eventually be compatible with the Flight Planner?
95:00 Updates to aircraft in SU4.
98:50 Q: Joby S4 battery dies after 20 mins.

My biggest takeaway from today’s Dev Q&A (2025-10-08) is that there are updates including artwork and systems coming for as many as 70 of the 130 default planes - some will be updated in SU 4, apparently. Jorg said they had a problem with a contractor for artwork, but that other teams (like iniBuilds and Working Title) have been making updates. That’s a relief - I really thought they had just forgotten all about maintaining the large, growing, aging fleet of planes.

I have no idea which planes are “2024 Native” (meaning, were reworked with the new LOD object SDK stuff, and systems updates, etc), and which are just 2020 planes that are flying as-is in 2024. It would be nice to know, for testing purposes…

Thanks for the stream, all. I missed the first 30 mins due to RL but will rewatch it later.

Some interesting parts, though definitely a lack of time for Q&A from chat this time around, though given the venom of some people in chat I am almost grateful they were ignored.

I have a lot of criticisms of 2024 and some lingering ones about 2020 regressions that still haven’t been addressed, but the entitled nature of some users is shocking. Good job to the moderators for their selective clean-up of messages

Hello,

Thank you for the stream. However, unfortunately this question hasn’t been answered properly:

With this question I didn’t mean PS5 controller features like haptic feedback. My question was about the bugs with controller support and the virtual cursor, more specifically THIS BUG, with an AI pilot intervening every time cursor mode is engaged. This makes flying with a controller nigh-impossible.

Please, can you forward the clarification to the devs and follow up on this? This has been a critical issue for controller players ever since release!

Again, nothing about Career mode.

When is this mode going to get some attention, some bug fixes, more available aircraft for use in missions, attention to the maintenance section, why the NAMC YS-11 was removed from Career mode within a few hours, a rework of the costs involved in maintenance.

Not even a mention to say what might be upcoming in the SU4 update with regard to Career mode.

Glad to hear that there are updates to some 70 of the now 130 first party planes coming. I’m not holding my breath for much improvement, but at least they do seem to be aware that many if not most of these planes are not working well in 2024 almost a year after launch…

I also think (hope) Jorg is starting to recognize that having so many first party planes has accrued a large “technical debt”. All of these planes require regular ongoing maintenance to fix bugs, regular updates to keep up with changes in the SDK, and hopefully further completion of missing features and capabilities to bring them to a more consistent level of quality, functionality and enjoyability.

1 plane requires a lot of work to do that - but they’ve now got 130 of them. He did say “some just don’t make sense” (to work on, I think is what he meant). But this list of planes is the “marketing bait” in the poster - so they all should be in good working order and optimized for the 2024 SDK. It’s an astonishing fleet of planes - and it would be a much appreciated achievement to get them all working to a similar level.

Really happy with the infos , the development and the sim

Love the boom and the t38. Really excited for the surprise . Cant wait for su4 final Release.

So much ungreatful ■■■■■■■■ on the chat.

You can and have to critisize. But not in that way

Are they actually gonna make me finally re-purchase MSFS2024?

I saw the stream and heard about people finding it hard to find POIs in the 2024 map. For those that may not have discovered my google map, it includes all of the POIs, hand crated airports and photogrammetry (TIN) areas for all World Updates.

Definitely the most exciting news I heard in the stream, though I’m excited about the new planes too.

Agreed here. If they are first-party products, either shipped with the sim or published by MS, it’s definitely not unreasonable to expect them to continue to be functional. The fact that some have never been functional in FS2024 at all makes this a great update to hear.

It’s nice to hope for that, but the products were never sold with a promise of continued enhancement. Functionality is not unreasonable to expect, but I would not expect that MS will be adding features to these older planes beyond what they shipped with, and I don’t think a commitment to do that was implied, or is reasonable to expect in a revenue-focused product.

That was curious. I wonder if those are planes that just barely sold any copies? Or maybe are from defunct devs?

100%. If it’s on that poster list, it at very minumum needs to have equivalent functionality and stability in FS2024 as it did on 2020. It’s shocking that some advertised planes like the Short SC.7 Skyvan are literally unusable and have been since launch.

I don’t expect them to all be brought up to the level of standounds like the Savage Norden and Grumman Albatross. But full functionality is a justifiable baseline.

Guessing they want to get the basic sim in order and then focus on the career stuff in a later SU? They very well might be seeing light usage of the career mode, as well. Though in many cases (okay, at least mine), there’s interest in playing Career once it’s solid but not at the current level of functionality/reliability.

I do think it is reasonable to expect that, in a paid product that is advertised - and then delivered in an unfinished state - for most planes to be brought to a more consistent level of quality. If a new user comes across the poster, and the trailers, they would have a reasonable expectation that most planes work well, and that the experience would be more reliable than we currently know it to be. It’s a paid product, advertised and marketed.

Most people will be forgiving to one degree or another once they learn that MSFS is still an experiment with aspirational ads and a huge backlog of bug fixes. Dev Q&A videos give some reassurance of ongoing improvements, but on the whole, I think most new users still find the reality a bit of a shock…

My suggestions are really to try to reduce the wide gap in these planes that are marketed together in tiers - in each tier there are some that are great, others that are terrible. It would be a better experience for new and experienced users alike, if most things in the sim were brought to a more consistent level, is the spirit of my feedback.

I was happy to hear that they are looking to Working Title to see if they will help with updating the Aviator edition aircraft. I’d love to see them bring the Beech 18 to a higher level for those of us on console and no access to the fantastic mod.

Another observation: why are bugs that have been fixed in SU2 and SU3 still in the feedback snapshot? They take up space from newer or less voted long-standing bugs which therefore don’t get attention.

Fairly sure this was in reference to the 2024 ports into 2020 Marketplace, and specifically referenced balloons because of the physics engine changes between the two sims.

I heard different.

TL;DR: they still aim at SU4 to add heavy cargo jobs (including the specific cargo aircraft as without them it won’t do anything).

While it’s not much it’s still not nothing

Career mode was the golden child this time last year, a huge marketing point pre release

Then they said (circa January) wow we didn’t expect so many users in career mode

Then as time went on people saw the career mode killer bugs like crashing aircraft during a skip or spawn essentially steeling hard earned grinding credits and pushing players away to free flight, these should have been priority fixes in this beta

I love career mode and I’m doing my best to provide feedback and make it work but the communication channel is beyond poor, and with the minimal career mode fixes in each beta build is clearly evident this mode isn’t going to be fully fledged a might be still alpha for PS5 release in December. Then we will have the Sony market coming on here asking what’s going on.

Can’t help but feel hardly anybody is using career mode anymore hence the lackluster push to get it fixed, it’s going the way of the missions in FSX, an afterthought. Even 3rd party aren’t coming to the party, maybe 5% of planes on the MP are career mode ready. I guess the career mode SDK and the collaboration between Asobo and 3rd party devs has fallen flat too.

Appreciate the fixes coming to default aircraft hopefully this also includes putting them in career mode, but they didn’t say that so not holding my breath

Don’t keep hope that high on the working title part - while I have much respect for them and their service to the sim but they mostly focus on avionics. Art related issues are out of scope basically and on general system side it depends.

Most of the fixes might point to making aircraft that use the GNS units use the correct version of the Garmin framework.

However I don’t think they are going to rework flight dynamics and engine logics of the individual aircraft, maybe touch-ups to enhance compatibility.

Nothing at all about weather / clouds? I know a LOT of people submitted questions about that.

Edit, sorry, I see a question about atmosphere / clouds, just don’t know the answer…

Sounds like the clouds and weather are part of a wishlist that they will tackle in order. You can hear him answer it about 5-10 seconds into this link.

What was that about AMD Processors? At 1h40? I didn’t hear anything said about that.
