[OFFICIAL] Community Fly-in Event: Flight to Asobo Studio

We will be hosting an Official Fly-in alongside a group of community members (you!) on Twitch. This is an open event, free to all who would like to fly along with us and available for all skill levels. The goal is to have a great time, explore new locations of the world, and make new friends. This event is open to pilots on both the PC and Xbox platforms.

Hosted by @Jummivana, @SeedyL3205, @Pieter1982NL, and @FlyingCookie650.

When: Friday, August 20 @ 1900Z for two hours.
Where: The Official Twitch Channel of MSFS

There will also be a Discord event channel open for those who want to voice chat with other members of the community.

Please see below for details on the upcoming Fly-In Event:

In recognition of the one year anniversary of the PC launch of Microsoft Flight Simulator, we will be flying to Bordeaux, home city of developer Asobo Studio. En route, we will also fly over the beautiful walled city of Carcassonne (pictured above) and also visit Toulouse-Blagnac Airport, home of Airbus.

Flight plan: LFMK → LFBO (Touch & Go) → LFBA (Touch & Go) → LFDR (Touch & Go) → LFBD

Pilots on the PC platform can download the .pln file for this flight here:
Community Fly-In 2021-08-20 France.PLN (3.8 KB)

For Xbox pilots, I will spend the first few minutes of the stream quickly explaining how you can create your own flight plan using the World Map. Alternatively, you can simply fly along with the group without using a pre-defined flight plan.

Recommended aircraft: Diamond DA40NG, Cirrus SR22, Extra 330, or similar.

We will be starting at LFMK. Please load your aircraft 10 minutes prior to take off and taxi over to the taxiway or parking.

Please adhere to the following settings so you can see everyone / be seen by everyone.

Variable Setting
Server North Europe
Multiplayer All Players
Live traffic As preferred
Weather Few Clouds
Time of Day Day time

It is advised in this flight to turn off both aircraft collisions and terrain collisions. If you do crash, you can use “slew” mode to join the pack. If the pack will be too scattered before the first stop, we will use slew on a defined point to regroup.

To communicate with others, a voice channel on the "Official Microsoft Flight Simulator Discord” at https://discord.gg/msfs will be available to join.

This is meant to be a fun and informal flight. Everybody is welcome, no matter the amount of experience.

Sounds good, see you there I’ll be joining from CYYZ!

Where should the .pln file be placed?

anywhere you like,
you just load it from the world map which will bring up a standard windows load screen then you just navigate to where you have the file saved

@Mo5tlyRandom has the correct answer. You can place the .pln file on your Desktop, in your Downloads folder, or any other convenient location that you can remember. Once you’re in the World Map in MSFS, press spacebar and Load the .pln from the location where you saved it.

Thank you very much for the hint

Looking forward to it. See you all then.

Save the plan wherever you want, and in the world map, there’s a button at the bottom of the screen that says ‘MORE (space)’. Click that, then click ‘LOAD/SAVE (space)’. A dialogue will come up and when you press ‘load’ it’ll let you browse to whichever folder you want.

And we are flying above Asobo Studio headquarters

Thanks for yet another wonderful flight! Loved the colours of rural France and the airports we landed on. Good to see lots of new people joining us. Happy anniversary, on to a great second year!
