FLIGHT DETAILS

We will be taking a tour around Hong Kong using the 3rd party scenery “SAMSCENE - HONG KONG CITY TIMES FOR MSFS” in the Marketplace.

Macau and Hong Kong are two Special Administrative Regions (SARs) of the People’s Republic of China. Macau, formerly a colony of Portugal from 1557-1999, is now one of the busiest tourism and entertainment capitals of Asia, with a gambling industry estimated to be seven times larger than that of Las Vegas. Hong Kong was formerly a colony of the United Kingdom before being transferred to China in 1997. It is one of the most important cities in the world for international shipping, trade, and finance. Both cities feature fantastic scenery and spectacular architecture. Join this community fly-in as we’ll visit not only the luxurious casinos of Macau and towering skyscrapers of Hong Kong but also some quiet places of natural beauty such as the Buddhist monastery at Ngong Ping, the peaceful tranquility of Dragon’s Back, and the small fishing village of Tai O.

PLANNING

We will be using an Icon A5 for some water landings, but feel free to use any slow GA plane.

Starting airport is Macau International Airport (VMMC). Please load your aircraft 15 minutes prior to take off and taxi over to the taxiway or parking.

Around 5 minutes prior to take off begin taxiing to the active runway (will be announced).

WEATHER

We will be using either Few Clouds or clear skies so we can see the city clearly. As far as the time of day, we will be switching between daytime and nighttime throughout the tour.

MULTIPLAYER SETTINGS

Please adhere to the following settings so you can see everyone / be seen by everyone.

Variable Setting
Server North Europe
Multiplayer All
Live traffic As desired
Weather Clear Skies

COMMUNICATION

To communicate with others, a voice channel on the "Official Microsoft Flight Simulator Discord” at https://discord.gg/msfs will be available to join.

It is advised in this flight to turn off both aircraft collisions and terrain collisions. If you do crash, you can use “slew” mode to join the pack. If the pack will be too scattered before the first stop, we will use slew on a defined point to regroup.

Would the flight have any value for someone who doesn’t have the add-on scenery package?

Yes.

Both Hong Kong and Macau each have several pieces of hand-crafted scenery in the base version of MSFS with no add-ons. In fact, we aren’t using any mods for Macau at all. Hong Kong is definitely much improved with the add-on scenery pack, but it’s not strictly necessary to enjoy this tour.

Yet another “community” fly in hosting paid packs. You should rename these threads to “Buy our payware fly-in!”

We rarely used 3rd party add-ons for our Community Fly-ins. I believe this is the second one. We love checking out what our 3rd party community is making! Feel free to join without the add on, it certainly isn’t a requirement by any means.
